Source: https://twitter.com/WSJ_manga/status/1291997309681598464 Those are really unfortunate news, I hope that the victim is fine. we clearly don't have all the details but since he got arrested then it's probably some serious shit. What dose it say about the future of the manga? Edit: The topic is trending 1# in Japan, and you can find much more information in the comments. |

I doubt there is a future. This series is going to be quickly cancelled if he is convicted or maybe even tomorrow. I doubt Jump really wants to deal with the optics of having a pedo/sexual abuser on their pay role or continuing a series from his imagination. Got to say incredibly stupid on his part considering how well his series was doing. Too bad premise looked interesting was thinking of checking it out. |

Though it makes me wonder if the female co-author could carry the series by herself or get someone else assigned to it as a writer. |

I guess that could be the ideal I don't know if she has the ability to write but i wouldn't want to see her success die just due to this guy. Let her at least have a go at it. |

This is what the google translation of NHK version of this news says: Shonen Jump Manga Original Author Arrest Suspected of Obscenity in Junior High School Girls A 29-year-old scenario writer, the author of a popular manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, was arrested for acting indecently on junior high school girls on the street. Another junior high school student suffered similar damage nearby and is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department. The person arrested was Tatsuya Matsuki (29), a scenario writer in Nakano-ku, Tokyo. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, about 8 o'clock on June 18th, there is a suspicion of obscene compulsion for approaching a bicycle from behind a junior high school girl who was walking on the street in Nakano Ward and touching her body. After that, the police station escaped from the scene by bicycle, and the Metropolitan Police Department, which received the report, was investigating by analyzing the image of the security camera. Also, about an hour later, another female junior high school student suffered similar damage on a nearby street, and a person very similar to Suspect Matsuki was seen on a security camera, so we are investigating the relationship. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, he has admitted the suspicion by making a statement such as "it is almost correct" in response to the investigation. The suspect was active under the pen name "Matsukitatsuya" and was in charge of the original work of the popular manga "actage act-age" serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. |

News has been updated on nhk website. I am posting quoted translations from a fan run wsj account https://twitter.com/WSJ_manga/status/1292024187121307648?s=19 It has now further been confirmed the victim was in Junior High (12-15 years of age). The incident occurred on June 18th, around 8pm. Matsuki touched and harassed a Junior High girl. Approximately 1 hour later he similarly harassed another girl. After the police received a report about the first incident, he fled by bicycle. The Metropolitan Police Department analyzed security camera footage and came to the conclusion that both cases were connected. Matsuki, admitted to the charges himself. https://twitter.com/WSJ_manga/status/1292019286802800640?s=20 Act-Age Volume 13, which was originally set to be releasing on October 2nd has been removed from the Shonen Jump release schedule for that month. |

Woah... I heard so much great things about the manga too. Don't know all the details but if the allegations are true, then hopefully, victims are doing well. With that being said though I don't wanna jump to conclusions without all the details so I'll just keep an open mind and see what unfolds. |

Yikes, this is some incident. I just hope the victims are okay and this doesn't affect the illustrator's career too much. |

Damn this is fucked. I feel bad for the artist in a way since she just was drawing her characters and was being innocent and doing so well for the series, but that series is now in serious jeopardy after the writer was involved in something like this. |

I really hate the fact that such a great ongoing manga series up to this point has been severely tainted by its own piece-of-shit author. The material was REALL good up to that point. Doubtful it'll continue on now unless someone else can step on to at least wrap the last arc up. Feels bad for the illustrator, too. Her artstyle was amazing. It's a shit deal for me because Act Age has been literally the only thing rolling for me from Jump up to this point. |

The art is really important for a manga and it's success. So yes, it's her success too. They both worked on the manga, it's not as if the manga would've been successful just because of the story. |

this is terrible, Act-Age was a great manga and the autor seemed to be really talented, sadly he clearly made a terrible mistake in his life which will probably end up on the manga cancellation, unfortunate situation to say the least |

Well, that was not something I expected to happen. I read a bit of this manga back when I started but I didn't continue, just waiting for the anime... that I very much doubt will ever happen now, what a waste. I can't be in the mind of this guy to truly understand what was going on in his head when he did it, but man, throwing away over two years and a half of hard work with this manga, ruining his career, and putting in a very hard spot everyone working on Act-Age, especially the poor artist that now will have to live with being involved in a work affected by stuff like this and how this can affect her getting new jobs... bruh. |

I feel like I just got stabbed in the back. I've been following Act-Age since day 1 and it quickly became one of my favorite mangas out there. Seeing this happen is just dishearting. I do have a very small glimmer of hope that the manga doesn't get canceled over this. This case is kinda different from other scandals since we aren't dealing with a solo author but with a duo where one of the parties is completely innocent. While Usazaki is only credited as "Art", usually these types of projects are a team effort on what it comes to storytelling. The "Story" credit normally only applies to the paneling and flow of the manga. In other words, there's still a small chance that Usazaki can continue the work solo. But I also wouldn't bet money on it. The chances of it getting canceled are still way too high. |

Fucking RIP. What a way to throw away your career like that, and especially when the manga has a high rating here on MAL... |
So I've been banned from MAL-Badges, after spending nearly two years of my time and dedication to helping out, being the club's spokesperson, and planning for the revamp, it all goes down the fucking drain. What a joke the club has become. I advise everyone to stop using the feature and stop showing their support for the site and the club. We were promised that we will see changes come to the site, and nothing's been done for the past year. I doubt the site will be touched for the foreseeable future. If you're angry and annoyed about the lack of development, then good, you should be. |

Maybe for a future manga if his career if a magazine is willing to serialize him when it comes to utilizing experience, but with Act-Age, the future isn't looking too bright for it and potential new chapters if investigations expose more of what's happening with him. I don't think a minor fine will save Act-Age's manga, let alone whatever worse happens to the writer. |

I'll admit that was the impression I got from Bakuman and I could (and maybe am) dead wrong in what I said. Especially cause what you said makes 10 times more sense. Either way, the main take away that I wanted to give on my comment is how usually these types of works aren't onesided when it comes to the plot. In other words, if Usazaki knows where the plot is heading, it could be possible for her to tackle dialogue and writing. But again, it's very unlikely. |

Shiro Usazaki needs to cut ties with the writer if she wants to keep working as an illustrator. Hope she gets thru all this. Now, I feel like I wasted my time reading this manga. Good thing an anime adaptation for this wasn’t announced before all this happened. It would have been probably cancelled on the spot and all those working on it would have just wasted their time. |
