Weakest episode so far, as someone else said it looked more like filler.

Now, did anyone else get a distinct 'western' feel from this episode? The aesthetic, the songs, the type of humor and, not least of all, a realistic gay character. To me it seems Netflix has much more control over the production here than with most of their previous originals. Not saying this is necessarily a good or bad thing, we'll just have to wait and see.

I dont think it has as much to do with Netflix as it does with Wantanabe, every thing he directs has western aspects to it. This episode was definitely an homage to 80's music videos(AHA, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston) with an obvious nod to Futurama with a beer drinking, lazy, scheming robot. I thought it was brilliant

Yall need to watch more anime if you think lesbians being in anime is anything new let alone western influenced. You know its not like one of the most influential and well known anime of the late 90's just suddenly happened cause of netflix just cause it had lesbians being the lead 2 characters, or that its so prominent since the 70's theres an entire genre named after it

It was kinda meh to use the ED song for the music video and just not using it as a credit for this episode instead of hearing it 2 times in a row

bruh chill with the MJ references lol no shame even got the jacket and everything

fun episode not much in the progress was actually quite the setback due to that piece of shit robot though i love how shitty it was just wanted to lazy around and drink.

but while apart of me was looking forward to the MV for them to use the ED song for the insert montage and then the MV was a bit lame since the video had charm in how bad it was but it just didn't go with it at all and we already heard it before.

this is the most western this show has felt

Yep.. Totally legit xD

Man, poor Roddy.. That's why I don't want to lend my collection to anyone for any purposes.

In today's world, that kind of MV is actually going to be a hit. I was thinking that the scamAI is actually a genius.

Uh-oh... There's a blatant sign of Yuri. I already have my one foot out from dropping this anime T_T pls no gay, such a waste.

So far the series is managing to stay enjoyable enough, but I'm really worried about its future since this episode was a bit of a dud and the last few were rather mediocre. I'm expecting (well, more like hoping) that there'll be some kind of stunning turnaround in the story.

That being said, the soundtrack is still superb and I need it.

This episode was so much fun to watch, but the entire time I knew it would be a disaster. Haven't you people ever bought anything on amazon before? That dumb robot had 1 star! Lol not really a complaint. It's just kinda funny.

All those music video references in the beginning were great. I love all the references they've put in.

The IDEA-produced video was hilarously fun btw.
I think these comedic episodes are meant as a build up for the finale, the Miraculous 7-Minute, so you get attached to the characters in a way the ending hits yoy harder.

This episode made me 🤣😂😂😂. I mean though their music video has been shelved due to that Fake AI robot, they sure has able to showcase theid talent not just in singing but also in some acting (via music video).

Roddy sure is in bad mood, i mean the car he borrowed has been destroyed and alap some of his robot collection.

Cant wait for next one

Dancing, Romantic, Anime, and Sentai...what a crew...

A beer-powered robot...who would have thunk it?

Aand Roddy got a convertible just like that, because it's Ertegun.

Marie divorced Gus...for a waifu? Well I'm glad to see that this anime is open about it...

IDEA is a bum!

Did IDEA really have to make Roddy dance 120 times? Couldn't he just make him dance once and then replicate him in the video 119 times?

BEST. MUSIC VIDEO. EVER!

Well IDEA just scammed them all for free beer. They're sending it back, but I have a feeling that we may see it again. Marie was the central character this episode. She says she's getting married to Anne, but I have a feeling that she may come back to Gus by the end of the series...

First the sprinklers go off, now it's Ertegun's car that gets wrecked. I wonder if seeing Ertegun's stuff getting busted is going to be a running gag in this series...

On a side note, I learned that while Bones is the primary studio for this series, former Satelight animator Thomas Romain recently formed a studio of his own called Studio No Border which is responsible for Carole & Tuesday's background art. Those guys are doing a great job, and I hope to see this quality of work remain consistent throughout the series.

That's the future.

Having said that, it came from a person who is bi, which might explain her high degree of awareness on this matter and when you see the surprised faces in the anime, you see that her openness is not a natural thing for everybody. Even in the future there's educational work to do.

You'll still find a lot people now who don't understand why this sentence is "revolutionary".

This episode was really fun. That AI would be a great character to have around, too bad it was returned lol

The Video Clip was actually pretty cool besides that unfinished CGI, the robot fight and some blurred shots but sure, it would never pass as an actual professional video. Lesson learned. Trust the user reviews on the products you find online.

Loads of fun! The humor had a, cartoonish vibe to it, for lack of a better word. But in a good way. I also really liked how the anime was very open and casual about portraying same sex relationships. Not something you see a lot. And Rody is so cute! Who can say no to this face? Ertegun certainly couldn't.

I've no problem with lesbian scenes but for me the problem is that it feels like it was just shoved in my face because ...2019, we need to be inclusive.

This is turning out to be a cartoon with anime style animation.

At first I wanted to say that “lesbians are also unusual in anime, like schoolchildren or robots,” but then I remembered how ANN literally blew up a big deal from otokonoko to PreCure.

I will not say that in this case everything depends on the context of the use of the word "anime", but the "greatest anime"? Seriously? Personally, it hurts me to hear that the greatness of a title has to be determined by how much it tries to copy American animation.

Anime is animation in japan, cartoon is animation. Many people consider FMA:B to be the show with the highest universal appeal and fairly often has the highest scores in rankings and lits yet it is three or four times more "western" than this show, also i was making a simple joke to the person i was responding to when i said that this might be the greatest anime because he said that the show is turning out to be "cartoon with anime style animation" when that's just completely and entirely false and doesn't have any existing argument or support behind it.

You can put any meaning into the concept of "anime", but the idea that the anime is better, the less it is "anime-ish" and more like Western cartoons, quite offensive in my opinion. With the same logic, I can say that the main parameter of the quality of a hambergur is how much it looks like a pirogi.

Lesbians (or gay/bisexual/trans, etc.) are nothing new in anime. They didn't suddenly started appearing in 2019. The only difference is that most of the time, if not always, they are portrayed in a negative/stereotypical way. You know, the gay character that is a pervert or the "flamboyant" type, the lesbian that "hates men",etc. that you know have only been added to the anime for comedy reasons, and no one had a problem with it. But hey, since now it's not the case, and the character is portrayed in a good/normal way, now of course a lot of people are going to have a problem with it. Now they are being "shoved in your face."

"cartoon with anime style animation" I mean... if you are saying that is turning into a cartoon because of all the "western" references ok, but if it's only because of the kiss scene... then I don't know what to tell you dude, except that you should probably watch more cartoons if you think all of them have that type of scenes. (and if they have then damn you should recommend me some of them o/ jk )

Anime is essentially cartoons made in another country but that's not what I want to ask.

What I want to know is, what is it about this show's western influences specifically is rubbing you the wrong way? (And This goes for anyone who has a similar mindset)

Just do not say that you studied the image of qeer people in the anime exclusively through gay jokes in shonen comedies. Utena and Sailor Moon showed a completely healthy and positive image of homosexual relationships, although these shows were released in the late 90s. Even meaningless fanservice shows like Sakura Trick have a rather positive image of lesbians.

I agree that usually mainstream anime ignores the positive image of male homosexuality, but let's not forget about CCS and Loveless, where male and female homosexuality literally cures the psychological problems of the characters.
