There’s no job stability with gaming as your main source of income. I guess see how your first year goes but at the same time, that’s a year your gambling...I think it’d be wise to at least finish your current degree and get a secured job and have your gaming passion as a side hustle.

OP hasn't even watched much anime. Either this is just a joke/bait topic, or he's looking for an excuse to quit college. I don't even know what to say anymore

What do you guys think?

WTF! Man just an advice to me and you the world is not that easy. It's hell so to think you can make money out of gaming is a pretty stupid way to do it. I myself manage to do it but I'm still in highschool managing time is the key. I even made a personal to do things for me everyday. Just manage your time right I even manage to sneak in to play games while doing studies and it didn't hinder my grades because most of it is a review and while in class I always find nyself listening to the teacher which is vital to preserve my personal time slot.

Education has no age limit. All the big universities have students ranging from younger to older ages and some out of those limits as well especially with post graduates and PhD, there are cases where people can not go to university until a later time due to various reasons either health or economic factors, some people also do more than one majors, academic life connects with many aspects.

You only live once so don't waste your life. If you're passionate about anime and gaming then that's what you have to do. If your parents try to get in the way or are toxic cut them out of your life and follow you dreams. Even if you dont succeed you wont have any regrets. You can always go back to college later in life.

I'd give anything to attend school, but it's your choice. Think about it really, really hard, have back up plans and remember that it's a very risky plan

Even if someone has a perfect memory like that I don't know why it'd be so hard for them to understand that most people do need to study (unless you do understand, but just want to feel superior for a while), also some college majors are more demanding that others and it depends on what op is studying.

You're not going to make it far in life with that attitude.

Its a pretty bad idea OP, if u ask me. I'm not demoralising or anything but lets be practical here. U cant just choose a field and say that its my dream to do this and thats why i'm here. No matter what u choose, hardwork will always be needed. People who do the work they like and are successful devote everything to their work. Can u do that? Do u have that dedication and discipline? Coz the field u are choosing is pretty tough. Only the most succesful people earn a good sum, like PewDiePie.
People like PewDiePie started making gaming videos for fun. They never thought that it would be their main source of income. But the stuff happened and things are different now.

But ur mentality is different. U wanna start gaming to earn ur living on the first place. So it would be VERY difficult. Just give urself more time and think this thoroughly coz its going to be the most important decision of ur life.

OP you need to watch Welcome to the NHK anime if you think you can make a living off gaming. That would show you harsh realities of this world and you would realize all these people on this forum are right about gaming not being a source of any livelihood and you probably won't be getting a penny from it.

One can perfectly balance anime with college.
You have a ton of free time as a university student than a high schooler you know.
People can even work part time as a univ student.

I only saw your desire to pursue your dream is only an excuse to escape college life.

Finish your college and start paving path to your dreams little by little while you're at it.

Good luck.

Like many have said, a career of gaming is hard. I'd suggest looking for a job till gaming pays off, assuming it can. Randos can't tell you shit anyways, it's your life. Consider such a drastic step though.

probably the implication that a (nearly) 26 year old man is having his parents pay for college lmao. you dont have to explain shit to your parents if you pay your own way, live your own life etc.

I'm 23 and I finished university this year, just finish that shit and get an low-effort job to pay for food and taxes.

The fact that you don't know how long college education can last suggests you're the dropout here.

Well, I'm nearly 30 and in a shitty job. Uni is often for learning a subject you really want to work in, it's really lazy to think of dropping out of something you'd want to do, because there's quite a bit of work and effort in it.

I'd like to write comics, but I have a long way to go because I can barely draw, but I still believe that putting the effort in I'd eventually be able to do it, I haven't thought of quitting my job just because I have a dream now, if I did I wouldn't have an income.
If you're dropping out, have something to go on like selling something or providing a service, look for a gap in the market. Way too many people want to make a living from gaming these days, most of them are never heard of, the biggest break they'd get is if they entered competitive esports and won.

If you're in uni for something you really want to do, don't drop out, don't try to make money off gaming that's you thinking of an easy solution rather than a dream

You better be sure that this is viable for you, capitalism is cold and unfeeling to your dreams. Most people do not care about your opinion or your gameplay if you are not entertaining, unique, or an expert.

You need to ask yourself a couple of questions before you decide to quit college.
Are you interesting? Are you an expert on anime and manga? What can you bring to the table to make people decide to watch you as opposed to the thousands of online personalities out there?

I suggest that you go to college, get a degree, and pursue your dreams afterward. However, if you have to quit college which I'm against, (but hey we only live once), find a way to market yourself before you decide that most people care about you, your story, or your opinion.
