I'd rather see an awesome 13 episode anime like Elfen Lied than having to sit through 200+ episodes of something like Naruto. As long as they do justice to the manga, the pacing is fine by me.

About the episode, what can I say! It was bombastic. Finally I know how Hohemheim and Father are related. So they are sort of clones. Rather I should say homunculus' body is a clone of Hohemheim's. I do hope to see more about how the homunculus came into existence in the first place. Also, I'd be surprised if Pride didn't find it odd that Hawkeye mentioned so many names in her conversation with Mustang.

The epic music also brought about a sense of magnitude to the story.

Hmmm...maybe he just don't want too because he feels that those who committed the taboo got to face the consequence..just like how he never aid Ed and Al in getting back their bodies..

I just think it means that -he- can't bring it back, because it's Truth's doing.

awesome episode, left me to wonder about how exactly 'Father' was created and what his motives can be

seeing he's already that powerful and currently controlling the entire country (and it wouldnt be the first time he sacrificed a countrey for his sake)

or maybe he just wants that half of the power that he doesnt have cause he had to share it with Van?

I'm guessing I'll get to know :)

I just had a quick question, what was the human transmutation mural found in Xerxes used for when "Homunculus" transmuted himself and Hohenheim?

Was it what gave Homunculus his body, or was it what actually turned both of them into living Philosopher Stone's while the transmutation circle around the entire country only ripped out the souls.

Neither i guess: it didn't do the king any good and it wasn't in the center of the periphery. The big circle should've been the real deal.

It's great I didn't continue the manga. Coming in with the mystery, I enjoyed this episode to actually comment on an episode discussion. I do feel this rushness at times, but it keeps the pace from stagnating, so it's a good tradeoff, imo.

I don't get why people are calling Hohenheim a stone tho. I mean, that other guy was completely stone-like. But Hohenheim should still possess human physical builtups, shouldn't he? At least, less stone-like than the other guy.

OH SHIT FIRST LET ME SAY THE THINGS THAT SHOCKED ME.

1. Mustang finally realized that Selim is also a homunculus. Where the fuck did he get those names? Did Hawkeye gave it to him or something?
2. Hohenheim is a walking philosopher stone? Omg lol where did that come from?
3. Who that hell is that thing inside the flask? Who made it? If Hohenheim was just a slave back then, then there's gotta be someone who discovered and invented that homunculus inside the flask.

Great episode! Major General Armstrong once again proved that she's a real Ice Queen. Lieutenant Hawkeye seems to be in a deep trouble, always being watched by Selim Bradley from shadows. Revelation about Hohenheim and the other one was also done well, and didn't felt rushed at all. And no, i didn't red manga and don't even intend to... unless there is something important or at least worth attention that wasn't put in anime?

That was awesome how Hawkeye was able to get the word out to Mustang!
Oh, poor Hoenhiem...he had no intention of becoming immortal. Now I understand why Father looks exactly like him.
So, basically Hoenhiem is a walking, talking, Philosopher's Stone?

I would NOT want to be hit by Izumi's husband!! That looks like it would hurt...A LOT!!!

This episode sort of... EXPLAINED MUCH! The relationship between Father and Hohenheim now makes sense, in the same way Hohenheim's immortality does. I still prefer the FMA version, but this one is done nicely too. For some time I was wondering if we'll get to see philosopher stone infused with human. Great!

Now that was something unexpected! Father is a Homunculi. Xerxes disappearence was a consequence of his plan and also the event behind Hohenheim's immortality. Poor guy, he shouldn't have trusted the Homunculus. He had nothing, and the knowledge he was given earned him a lot. But it was all taken away by the same being. And yeah, being immortal must suck.

On another note, the scene with Roy and Riza exchanging information was great.

Since they know each other well, I'm sure they knew the code :p especially after the tappings. But still, it looks a bit complicated. I would've taken a while to see how I could use it to make sense of the clues lol. I'm guessing the other "clues" were given outside of the bit that was shown.

Got to love the irony that Hohenheim is the philosopher's stone the brothers have been looking for all along.

The second part was quite something, really great backstory of van hohenheim, now we know why there are 2, quite interesting indeed but damn that ending where he put his hand in Izumi was quite unexpected thought he was going to kill her, though he was actually helping her!

well despite the cuts i like the the backstory!

Olivier blunt as ever, then again it is to convince King Bradley.

i love how Hawkeye manages to pass the message to Roy through morse code :P

damn Selmi must have cast a spell to monito Hawkeye.

so Hohenheim was just a mere slave back then?

and his blood was used to create a Homunculus?

i do wonder how they created a Homunculus in the first place??

i knew XerXes ruins was a special place.

so the Homunculus gave him Van Hohenheim name huh??

it's funny how Van's master concept that One is All and All is One is the same that was used in season by Izumi and her master

it's seems the Homunculus planned the sacrifice all along huh??

so XerXes disappeared just because some old king wanted immortality?

pretty fucked up to hear that.

so Hohenheim became immortal due to Homunculus putting him in the circle in exchange for him being able to take a form. in this case the old king.

im guess Hohenheim found out the "Truth" huh?

since he now has a vast knowledge of things.

so the people he was chanting a few episodes when he stab himself was actually his friends from XerXes

i actually thought "Father" was a brother of Hohenheim.

then again it's just his blood was used.

so "Father" who created more Homunculus used the people from XerXes and still lingers till this day.

must be hard suffering and trap all these years.

so Hohenheim just redirected the blood flow of Izumi to make it easier for Izumi for circulation.

i actually thought he killed her for committing a sin O_____O

pretty surprising he knows Izumi too well :P

Sig went berserk in a second!!

guess he learned that from all of the knowledge Homunculus gave huh?

Hohenheim thank you!!!

amazing stuff, getting much better than the first season ^^

Good thing Ed and Al have already abandoned the idea of using the stone to get them back. Admit it though. No one really cares about Ed's Arm and Leg. He's better of this way. I'm sure Winry likes him better with automail as well. As for Al who could be rejected any minute, however....

Edit: fixed typos.

Hohenheim said HE couldn't bring them, not that SHE couldn't bring them back. Remember when Ed encountered Al's body and it told Ed that it couldn't come with him because he wasn't his soul? The same thing might apply to Izumi's organs. I am not saying that they can be brought back as I'm not a manga reader and don't know that. However, I think that IF anyone can bring them back it will be Izumi herself only. Same with Al's body, but like I said I didn't read the manga so this is only some speculation.

While the episode did answer some questions it raised at least as many as it answered... Some of the questions it raised being: So far any Homunculus we had seen was created with a Philosispher's Stone, I think we can be pretty sure there was no such stone when The Little One In The Flask was created. So how was he created? Another issue is that Pride said that he is the ORIGINAL Homunculus.. Now it seems 'Father' is/was one as well. So is Pride a part of 'Father' that has taken possession of a human body? They did look similar so it is possible.
It is also possible that he meant that he was the first Homunculus being created by 'Father', however, that still wouldn't make him the original one in my eyes...

Epic episode.

I loved the message Hawkeye was sending Mustang, I wish they had a full made up convo about it, either they ran out of creative lines or didn't have time.

Hohenheim's story is amazing, finally feels like FMA.

5/5

But wait, Izumi not having organs was like the second half of 2003 anime, thought it was anime-original? Did the mangaka just write the same thing after the 2003 anime or did the 2003 (and the 2009) anime simply delay the piece of info?
