Episode 22 preview up.

Clear epilogue. Altair's VA is narrating.

Looks like some of the creations stay or say their goodbyes before they have to go.

Well of course not; this last episode undoubtedly deals with the creations who haven't died or been sent back to their worlds. Though undoubtedly We'll get to see Takarada and Matsubara reflect on the lessons their creations imparted to them. No doubt Selesia will get her coffee.

hmm,

- so Altair had not enough veganace despite she pulled so much power last couple of episodes.

- so they introduced setsuna somehow(how?) to her and reach the anti-climax stuff of anime.

- so they could beat altair without fighting and ended the festival

- so.... etc etc lablabla whatever. I am really got pissed about my hype :\ Maybe I was expecting mastery level of anime from this show(first half was really really groundbreaking). nvm, only one episode left and have to watch it for the shake of completion.

No information yet
Magane booked it to somewhere distant, or overseas, so she'll probably end up staying but it will be revealed for most in the last episode

Probably creations that went dead: Mamika, Alicetaria, Selesia and Charon are going to be revived in their respective stories.
I think and I hope that Meteora is going to stay in our reality to become a game designer or maybe a chef. Magane certainly doesn't want to leave our world. Yuuya and Shou will probably go back to defeat the fortuneteller. Hikayu may prefer to stay. Blitz is probably going with his daughter Erina back to their world (will he get enough acceptance and is it even needed?). JSDF would probably want to inspect Rui's giant mecha so they would like him to stay in order to replicate some futuristic technology. Altair and Setsuna became gods of new worlds but Himegimi is still capable to move between other worlds so she may appear anytime.
Masaaki, Takashi, Yatouji, Nishio, Gai, Shunma - they are creators who will still want to do something new (including bringing back characters to life and moving the stories forward). Souta will work harder on becoming a better creator. Marine will still be drawing.

After seeing that last episode preview, that's how a series end after an average outcome. Nothing happened.

So after a bit of crying and ranting Altair gets away with killing other creations, trying to destroy the world and in general being a huge asshole. And can do it all again while no one can stop her. And everything the show spent over half of it's run doing(planning this festival) ended up doing nothing until Magane, on a whim, gave Souta plot power. And they want me to believe everyone in the show's fictional audience accepted this shit, lol.

Well half of this anime felt like filler but the last episode made me change my score from 4 to 6. It could honestly do without the elimination festival. I probably would like the anime more if i had watched it all at once like i usually do.

It took me a little while to realize what this brought to mind - Star Trek: The Next Generation season 5, episode 4. http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Silicon_Avatar

Dr. Kila Marr (Altair) wants vengeance on the Crystalline Entity (people of earth) for killing her son. Data the android recites the dead son's journal entries in his voice, and Dr. Marr starts to see him as almost a reincarnation of her son (re-created Setsuna).

Not one of the better Star Trek episodes. The conversation between Setsuna and Altair was at least more interesting, but felt very anticlimactic and unsatisfying despite my having thought for a while that doing that might be a good way to end it.

When Laws of nature doesn't even exist anymore...anything can happen xD

>came alive and made her own story in the real life
>the other character from a story came alive
>she has an infinite power
>can make something from nothing.

dude...lmao

That was the most enjoyable unlogical episode i have ever scene xD

All I can say at the moment is that I'm speechless.
Poor and predicatable storytelling but a fairly acceptable and intriguing turnout of events makes up for quite the contradictory episode. Altair x Setsune scenes were fabulous to watch as well albeit being a little too emotional at times but it was pleasant to watch nonetheless. Hopefully, the next episode will clear things up once and for all because the explanations provided in this episode were definitely lacking and baseless, if you ask me, and finally end this series with a solid resolution.

Then in all likelihood, sooner or later, the reality would crumble and Altair would make her grand plan come true as nobody could stop her. She gained more power with every day. If needed, she would kill some creations trying to stop her but they could be vital to her strategy. End of the world may even happened on the same day we saw the train station scene happening.
I wonder if Altair herself would survive the collapse and create a new world.

She implied that she might, as she technically has no world. That's probably her being delusional, though.

I LOVE 😍😍😍 THE EPIOSDE!!!

It shows the Altair not as a villain but a HERO to her creator (Setsuna). Its a drama filled conversation between her and Setsuna. I love the episode showing that Altair has a SOFT side too (amidst being an OP character)... 😀😀😀

Very emotional episode. Re:Creators managed to pull out this strong emotional core in these last couple of episodes. The second half of the series in general has been quite strong. To think that I used to find this series boring and dialogue-heavy...

That awkward moment when you were hoping for Altair to get a happy ending, despite her killing so many major characters. I don't know. I always sympathized with her, mostly because of her creator's tragic end, and then her creator's feelings carried over to Altair. Overall, she made for an interesting anti-villain.

Whole episode was practically showing off emotional attachment between Altair, Setsuna and Souta. Setsuna's passion for creating, sadness and wrath because of Internet hate, sympathy to Mizushino and Altair's sensitiveness to everything Setsuna's releated came together, months after Altair became self-aware thanks to her creator's feelings - another miracle happened.

I was hoping Altair would reject the fake and cut her down... didn't happen. I almost got the backup plan, but no, the re-splat didn't happen either.

Rambling a bit too much, but that's par for this anime.
I'm expecting an "aftermath" episode next? I doubt Altair will be back to destroy the world. :(

A sizeable portion of MAL’ers (not all of them) have the emotional intelligence of 9 year olds.
All it takes is for a character to cry or say how much they suffered in the past for the character to be a fan favourite, or at least have all their transgressions forgiven. So never mind that Altair has murdered in cold blood and threatens to annihilate humanity, poor girl.

If we followed MAL’s logic, we should take pity on a certain Austro-german dictator who who died in 1945 because the poor guy suffered a lot when his dad hit him or he couldn’t get into art school, right?

I agree. This show is boring and way overhyped.

Wow, so many feels in this episode. Altair and Shimazaki's scene is simply beautiful and look at that amazing animation...And I think Sota learns so much from this, Shimazaki is really love you and you are really important for her, you must realize it, if you're a good friend, you shouldn't leave her when she really needs you, when she is sad. Good friends always stay with you in any situation, happy or sad.

Altair is so powerful, yet even she can't sa....Oh, wait. She did.

Now, if she could just bring back the characters she killed, all would be forgiven.

Meanwhile, it is easy to forget the people in the "real world" that Magane murdered, because if it wasn't for her, the world would have ended.

It was great to see Altair my favorite character in this series stepping out of villain mode to expressive mode. She really loved Shimazaki to want to destroy the world for her what a true creation she is, too bad she had to disappear like that. Nice outfit on her she really looked good on it.

I almost cried, but I stopped once I remembered that it's currently broadcasted to the whole world as a show, it's an absurd things to see an action battle royal turned into feels talk as the end of the show since nobody can defeat Altair.

With a better writer this could of been a pretty emotional episode but even then it was pretty alright. Predictable but i think its a pretty fitting end to the conflict past just overpowering altair. I do think souta breaking down was pretty nice the issue was more cause we barely saw any interaction between him and setsuna that it doesnt hold that much weight. They needed to have sprinkled more scenes of them interacting throughout the series instead of just dropping it all at once like they did.

the series in general feels like its misplaced in its events, alot of the fights in the final bit should of been spread out like charon and the fighting game dude fighting selesia and yuya, i also think they should of made alice die before the final fight rather than in it cause it feels weird that mamika is the only death outside of the final conflict.

An episode that brings Setsuna back to deal with Altair and got it. Long conversation and feelings here, I wasn't surprised until Sota said that he created Setsuna, that's a good one. It look that the problems are solved.

Predictable and unearned imo. Altair needed to express way more of the emotion we saw here, throughout the anime, for this payoff to really hit home. Instead, we got Altair brooding and emotionless for 20 episodes to the determent of this episode.

I understand Setsuna being the main drive/motivation for Altair, but there was so much time and opportunity to we could have given to Altair within these episodes, and yet they never really developed her much at all. I would have much rather had some time with her instead of the millionth boring monologue we in place of some proper storytelling. What was she doing for 6 months while everyone else planned the festival? Give us some of that. Don't just show her brutally murder someone then ask for empathy during the penultimate. Making her more of a tragic hero versus the quiet/overpowered archetype would have served this anime quite well.

The emotion we got in this episode was good, just felt unearned. If this anime had added more throughout the entirety, while cutting some of the long rambling and unnecessary scenes, I may have enjoyed this one a bit more. Right now, this fell flat for me, as did most of the series. Fantastic idea, really got excited for this one. But the execution? Not so much. Shame.

But almost all of Altair's scenes were a lead up to her dialogue with Setsuna? Are you upset that the "villain" won against the entire world?

Yes? She was one against the world and she faced everyone else but Charon. The Government prepared against her with all their capabilities and hurled the strongest enemy at her. In the end best they could do was appeasement. She won against everyone else, they couldn’t make a winning strategy.

I was thinking the entire planet vs a select group and guess you could add Magane and she might have lost had world known she was real and wanted to kill them.

Am I upset by the outcome? Not at all. Altair getting a happy ending was a fine way to end the series, I just don't think the writers did a very good job with her character in the first place. I think anyone watching could piece together that Setsuna was going to appear in some capacity early on, but that's all the more reason to give Altair way more to do as the main antagonist.
