| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So Chise is back doing some errands with Elias since their little adventure. The little details of their character interactions is nice to watch imo. I thought the episode adapted chapter 9 well in particular the part when Chise unexpectingly got attacked but saved by Ruth. His dog form is dope. I think the VA played Ruth's role pretty well and consistent to his character.  |

| Chise got another ally to help her now. Elias can't be there everytime after all. Still even though he was there Chise got hurt again; I wouldn't want to be in that kid's shoes now that he pissed the magician. |

| Great episode. They adapted the chapter quite well. We finally get the story behind Renfred and his actions. That ending though, Chise taking that stab was painful to watch. :( Elias's transformation was really well done and boy does he look menacing. |

| The series has improved a little since the first episode, although I find way too many flaws with the characters and especialy our heroine that have less to do with taste but the actual quality of how they're written and how flat their characterization often falls and how they're either too inconsistent or too static... But I'm curious as to where this will go I really enjoyed the last segment and that sorcerer apprentice's thoughts on Elias' nature. |

| Amazing episode. Chise met a human that can turn into a dog. She and his sister resembles each other. Got to know what Renfred was up to. He was tasked to make chimeras, but refused and lost an arm. Alice and Chise are quite alike. Chise getting stabbed was painful to watch. Elias's transformation is terrifying. |

| I'm a bit disappointed that Elias is just not capable of protecting Chise. That's twice this episode that this happened (the dog guy saved her instead the first time). Other than that, setup for possible revelations coming in. Elias's transformation was fucking amazing by the way. Also Chise doing magic stuff properly was nice to see, although i would have wished to more of how she got to this part. The sleeping potion she made got useful there xD |

| Oh my. Unable to wait , I read the entire manga couple days ago. I can't even explain how much better this episode was compared to the manga chapter. The music and the sound effects and the colours make a HUGE difference. It doesn't even feel like you've read the story already. Next episodes are going to be even better. I can guarantee that. |

| Already liked Ruth in the ova's and finally seeing his introduction was pretty cool. He's my new favorite character and I hope we get more instances of him being a badass, hopefully in his wolf or dog form, cuz that makes it even more badass. Also literally last episode I said I hope we see Elias pissed off and holy shit was it better than I expected!!!! |

| Fantastic episode all around. We get Chise making some medicine before going out with Elias to take care of their final task that was given to them. Chise gets her ring that Angelica made for her so she doesn't over do it with the magic and we finally meet the black dog Ulysse who is reminded of his sister when he sees Chise. The ending where Elias goes into his other form was amazing. Props to Wit Studio for doing a awesome job with his transformation scene. I felt bad seeing Chise take the brunt of the attack though. So hyped for the next episode. |

| Goddamnit I knew I should have waited and bingewatched this show later, cause of cliffhangers like this one! That ending came out of nowhere. Too late for regrets now but the wait till next week will be hard. And that Elias berserker mode! BAD.ASS. He needs to murderate the hell out of that little brat so much! |

| God, this anime. Wish I could have unseen the OVA but oh well. Epic fight between Elias and the creepy magician incoming. I suppose given his zero fucks given attitude it'll probably be a stalemate. But blood will be shed. |

| Nice episode. Good to see that Chise is starting to learn about magic & making potions. Cool that one of her potions worked on Alice. That black goo monster was freaky. The Black Dog is cool. DAMN that kid is annoying. Chise getting stabbed. Elise transforming into the monster is crazy. |

Really important edit : 1. I hope after this and the next episode, Mahoutsukai will overtake Pingu in the city. I mean come on... 2. waited for a 3-4 episode arc against the magus, got stab + a fight (predicting a crushing defeat to the white hair creep tho' I haven't read the manga) /edit My Personal rules for airing anime: #1 never give it a 10/10 during airing (because the ending can suck eg. Erased, or it can still be messed up) #2 if I didn't read the source then I won't read ahead #3 don't drop slowish shows they can turn out well eg. Hai to gensou no Grimgar #4 avoid spoilers at all cost #5 don't compare an airing anime to a whole finished one, only compare small details What I did after the last 2 episodes: I gave this a 9/10 because of rule #1. Then I researched the source. Almost started it. Then I found it in an online book ahop in English, almost bought it all driving me closer to mess up rule #2. Rule #3 doesn't really apply. Fortunately I kept rule #4. Tho' already compared it to Shinsekai Yori, my personal best. I really hope I can withstand the pain and wait it out till the end. To discuss the episode: well... I know "write better character introduction episode" - that basically sums it up |

| Ooh that was one ominous looking transformation at the end. If there's one thing i hate in manga/anime is the goddamn cliché of the ultra young, smug, OP white haired antagonist. It drives me crazy. i hope that whoever it is, he/she get quickly dispatched and we can move on. |

| very awesome episode especially at the end with elias transforming, but made me frustrated with having to wait for the next episode to see the fight. It was nice to see how chise and Ruth meet as they end up living together at elias's house (from the OVA). looking forward to how the showdown will turn out, looks like it might be a good one given the little bits shown during the preview for the next episode. |

| Now that cliffhanger was just cruel. I have to wait a whole week dammit!! ;-; Anyway, this series is slowly creeping up in my ranks, that's for sure. I remember seeing the dog guy in the OVA ep I watched- pretty sure he's called Ruth- so I guess he's the one who becomes Chise's familiar? Also kudos to Uchiyama because his voice goes great with the character! At first I thought it was gonna be the whole Mages vs. Sorcerers schtick, but the "big bad" of the series (if it's gonna have one) seems to be the master of that sorcerer who took Renfred's arm. |
