I was expecting a heated battle and instead I got blasted with feels. You really got me, Oda. TT^TT

I was worried we'd get a bit of a rehash with what happened with things like Luffy fighting Usopp or when he went to save Robin, but I'm glad I don't know what to expect now.

I feel more impatient with this exchange than the feels. Nami ought to have pieced together what's going on by now, having pulled the exact same act herself before, and maybe thats what the slap and goodbye was about near the end. Obviously Luffy won't get it unless it's spelled out to him and taking the attacks without fighting back was totally expected of him... however the ending seemed incredibly out of place and out of character, just throwing a tantrum and saying he wont move or eat until he comes back? Is that really how Luffy would act in this situation? He's smart enough to tell Sanji is lying, but not smart enough to know why, so he should at least be able to tell there's a reason.

To be honest I assumed with Sanji's speech about joining the "winning side", this chapter was going to end with a badass Luffy proclamation that he'll just have to beat Big Mom's ass to remind Sanji who the Pirate King will be to bring him back, thus giving the crew a bit more solid reason to actually fight Big Mom. What we got was... disappointing in comparison. If he actually sticks to what he's saying he's going to do here, that basically leaves everything up to Sanji to help himself out of those cuffs and resolve his entire situation on his own just to be able to return there. Here's hoping Nami has figured shit out and will talk some sense into him after they've left.

Aww. Well that was sweet. Clearly can see how much he cares about Sanji.

I liked this chapter, and I do agree that this arc is going SO much better than Dressrosa (which I didn't really like) and, imo, Zou as well, though I don't really get why a lot of people here are getting so emotional towards this scene to the point of apparently crying, as I didn't really find it that emotional. Frankly, I find it heartwarming instead (and not really in the sad way), as it brought a smile to my face to see how much he cares about him.

Yeah, I also don't get how this chapter could get people crying. Sucks to see him get the crap beaten out of him, but still shows his complete loyalty and determination to his crew. Not really something to be sad about to me. Nonetheless and like you, still liked it myself.

The feels in this chapter!!! Last chapter, I feared that this arc will be the same as Robin's or mayble like Nami's, but its different this time because its Sanji who is trying to save himself. 5/5.

This chapter was a masterpiece. Sanji NEVER lets anyone starve, we know this about him. Maybe he will come back without hands, dripping of blood, somehow carrying food? Or maybe he will just simply sneak out, bringing food? I am very curious what will happen.

Damn it what a good chapter!
I think Luffy can tell Sanji could defeat his family and that's why he isn't fighting them to help him. He doesn't know about Zeff or the handcuffs, even if he noticed them. I loved how in spite being beaten up and treated like shit by him Luffy was nice to Sanji, in contrast to his family being assholes for as long as he knew them. It shows the kind of friend Sanji have to loose and the kind of life he will be trading. It makes this decision so much harder.
And Luffy telling him he will starve to death was a really nice touch given Sanji's history with starvation and the certainty that Luffy isn't going back on his word.
Pretty sure Nami knew this was a trick, but I think he she was pissed because she had to actually see Luffy fighting this very strong enemy for 11 hours only to get beaten by the person he went to save. Even knowing to an extent the situation, she though Sanji didn't need to go that far. If it turned out she actually couldn't figure it out I'd be pissed, but I don't think so. If Luffy could, so could Nami.
I also liked that Reiju was the only one giving a fuck about Sanji, while his brothers were laughing. I see her taking a huge L for him in the near future.

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion but I liked Dressrossa. Well, I did see the whole thing in two weeks and didn't have to wait for it, but, being dragged out aside, for me it was a great arc. One of my favorites, actually. That being said this one starts pretty fucking awesome and depending on what happens, it might be way better. I hope Big mom will reach and surpass Doflamingo in epicness.

It being dragged so much is not my only reason (though it is a reason, nonetheless) as to why I didn't really like Dressrosa. I did like Doflamingo, though.

"To know why" is impossible if Sanji didn't tell him, you know. Neither Luffy nor Nami know Zeff is held hostage by Big Mom nor did he know much about Sanji's family situation, he sure could said "I'll kick Big Mom and your papa ass, so don't leave us", but that still not enough to save Zeff. One mistake, and Judge could command his soldier to kill Zeff.

It's not as easy as you said.

I like it this way, Luffy did not act carelessly nor did he leave everything to Sanji, he just wait until Sanji himself tell him what happened. Luffy has matured...

It's the only possibe way. Sanji must part away and become stronger. It wouldn't be satisfying for most of us at the end of the arc but it's the only solution. Unless something like Brook giving some years to Big Mom for Sanji's return and the Red Poniglyph copy.
We don't want a "Luffy defeated both Big Mom & Judge, as expected from our Captain". It's too lame.

Nani went to far? She smacked after he mercilessly beat on a Luffy that wouldn't fight back. You're using your knowledge and projecting it on her. All she knows is they went through hell to get to him only for him to demean them and then attack Luffy. Even if it's clearly a farce to Luffy and maybe even Nami nobody forced Sanji to keep attacking.

Except he is forced to do it because of his family and Luffy more than obviously realized that and he's an airhead. Nami should have realized it too but still lashed out at him. They have been together for a LONG TIME, everyone in the crew knows they'd never do that to each other willingly.

Luffy realizes Sanji is lying. Nami Probably does too but the point is nobody is forcing Sanji to mercilessly beat on Luffy. Did you see anyone say he had to do that? Nami smacked him one time because he deserves it for putting his friends through hell but they are still trusting him to handle it himself. One slap from NAMI the least powerful hand to hand fighter in the crew does not compare to multiple Diablo attacks Fromm Sanji at all.

The point of the statement was why did she even do it to begin with. Because Sanji was beating on Luffy made it okay for her to slap him? Lol okay, I guess. I'm not going into a debate about whether he was forced to do it or not, I'll just assume because he actually cares about Luffy he did it so his family wouldn't get involved. If Luffy threw down right there with his family he + Nami would have undoubtedly lost and he wouldn't be able to help with the restraint they have on him.

I'm saying you're assuming too much. YOU know Sanji's motivations while Luffy who is characteristicly stubborn refuses to believe Sanji Nami has no actual evidence Sanji is lying. Regardless of his motivations that we know of he was not reading from a script or being forced to speak and was never ordered to attack all of these things were of his own voilition. He's also not protecting Luffy from the fight he's protecting his own hands from being blown off. Sanji is in a bad situation but Nami had every reason to slap him he wa sour of hand attack Luffy over and over when he already said he wasn't going to fight back he could've killed him.

Aren't you assuming Sanji is protecting his own hands due to Luffy's actions? LOL. What reason would his father blow off his hands for something Luffy is doing? Again, matter of perspective, you are saying it was fine Nami slapped Sanji for his actions (idc if it was her weak hand, why does that even matter), while I personally would have preferred for her to just stay out - honestly I would have liked it better if she wasn't even around for stuff like this.

You can say I'm assuming on Sanji's motives but Luffy had just gotten out of a battle and caught up to Sanji so he was already tired out and clearly he was beat up. I'll keep thinking Sanji did it because he cares for Luffy. Not to mention even Luffy was saying Sanji was holding back as his attacks kept getting stronger.

No I'm not assuming he did it to save his hands. In 843 He sees Luffy and could have easily run away with him but then looks at his hands and it ha a flashback to his father sayin I he tries anything he'lol blow his hands off. Protecting his hands is a valid reason for him to be held prisoner but all I'm saying is there was no actual reason for him to attack Luffy over and over especially once Luffy said he wouldn't fight back that's why Luffy knew Sanji felt bad because he knew he was wrong.
