Well that was better than I had thought. I'm not too used to the character designs yet still but I think it could work out in the long run.

Then, there's the OP song that I think fits quite well for a military theme series (gave me slightly GATE vibes)
Definitely got a good adventure vibe from this with the setting as well. In the meantime, we got some priceless face expressions!

parts of me forgive their decision to use totally different character design.
But the other parts of me denied their decision to stick with standard directing. It should be narrated like a play in the theatre-like since the novel actually portrays like that.

Pretty nice episode so far.
The manga was ok so i wonder how that anime will turn out.

Good enough but i wish they skip a bit more

Yeah i'm serious, the first chapter is god damn long for anime, and this show is not like Re:Zero have 48 minute first episode.

They skipped a lot of stuff like the complete opening scene, but that looks fine as a whole, I 'd say. IIRC, no important stuff was skipped. the whole "jointing" between the various scene felt a bit rough due to skipping in between scenes/dialogues sometimes,a s they cut what wasn't immediately necessary. But then again for that it's better to ask peoples who haven't read it how they felt about the connection between the scene. Because the roughness may just be due to knowing that there was some stuff in between, for example~

The chara design somehow fits (except on Haro ~ ) despite being so much different from the novel illustrations, too. Colour/background are quite pretty as well.
Should be enjoyable to look at, especially from the second volume onward.
Seiyuu's performance feels quite fine too. Except Haro, again. What's with Haro, seriously.

Read the light novels, i must say the chara design is way different than what it should be. Anyways, I'm really excited about this series for a long time after reading the LN.

The last half of the episode really was good. Liking the MC and the princess so far.

Seems like every Ikki lately is a savage. :D

Straightforward stuff with a war going on, the princess going off on her own was ehhh, but still good so far.

I have no idea what they're talking about at first. Especially about Yatori's relatives and Ikta being the underdog. But I guess his habit is pretty understandable, considering he the type type that need "attention" also be like a jerk more and more.

Kind of a slow start, but it was decent. I'm looking forward to seeing how Ikta will handle that situation and how everything will play out.

Also, the princess' full name is ridiculous lol. Her VA must have had a fun time pronouncing that.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Shipwrecked! Behind enemy lines! At gunpoint! I've read the first 9 chapters of the manga. Not a bad opening episode. Character designs will still take some getting used to, but good stuff so far.

Enjoyed the OP, so there's an automatic plus.

Skipped a few scenes from the beginning of vol.1 but not to overly rushed. Wished it had a 48 minute first episode.

Character designs are still iffy for me. Sometimes they look good then at other times the designs are meh. At least so far they are getting Ikta's character down. Also enjoyed Taneda Risa as Yatori.

Quite a good start from an anime only perspective, Behind enemy lines, Fantasy setting and War, Would make for quite the thriller.
Seems strategic and tactical as well, So that's gonna be great to watch.

The princess's name, What?xD

I'm liking Ikta already and the rest of the cast seem great as well.
The invincible lazy general eh? After hearing that I'm very intrigued on how Ikta is gonna get out of this situation.

Pretty good episode.

Aside from a few skippings here and there it wasn't badly rushed to say. Yes it is rushed, but it makes sense aside from one scene though.

Ikta is so damn funny thought btw in the anime, also the character designs dont look actually bad, they look pretty fine in all honesty when you think about it from different camera angles.

Definitely enjoyed the overall tone of this episode, lighthearted, but still maintaining a realistic tone, similar to actual down time in war.

Gives me GATE vibes, and not just because the OP is by the same singer. I actually like the protag a lot for once, which is a shocker for a fantasy light novel.

Haro's seiyuu is not an experienced one. She's primarily a singer it seems. In fact according to the web radio show, she had some problems grasping her character and had a lot of NGs.

Both Risa and Inorin read the novels as expected of young star seiyuus and performed well as expected.

An adaptation of a Fantasy LN that isn't absolute shite, but is actually pretty good?? Well I'll be. Unicorns do exists.

Props to Madhouse for their use of atmosphere to make the expository LN tom-fuckery less soporific.

All of my complaints, however, are on that bullshit excuse of an OP. Wow, that has to be one of the worst OPs I've ever seen.... ever. Seriously. What the fuck kind of editing was that?? I've seen better transitioning in Inspector Gadget.

This feels unfortunately a lot like Gate which colors the show in foul colors immediately but I'll try to overcome it.

I dunno, I guess since it's Summer and all, I expected that another LN adaptation will come with extremely rare Rokka no Yuusha slow pacing, strong atmosphere and such, but this felt rather typical ( which isn't a bad thing necessarily ) and definitely rushed. Just didn't feel the fantasy feel despite the eyegasmic visuals.

The start overall wasn't bad.

The alderamin novel is really good, and this is coming froma fan of rokka no yuusha novels. Don't worry about that. This is quite different from gate, as this is really centred on military tactics and battles in this medieval setting.

I mean, its good, but I can't exactly say I'm impressed. All of the main characters were just kind of thrown together in a way that's kinda cliché. I don't know a single thing about the world/setting, aside from there being a war between some people about something.

Also, the kids seemed to party really hard for just being washed up on a beach. You would think they were having an ordinary picnic on the beach.

So you would have liked 2 episodes of expoisitions before doing anything? This will come later.

Ah, they skipped the search for food. they have quite a capable team, so yeah. Btw the frog and insect are what Ikta got. On that point, he's not as capable as the others x).

I do think one episode of exposition before everybody gets washed up on the island would have been beneficial, but I admit this episode is okay, assuming they don't wait three more episodes to get that done.

As per usual with LNs the poor voice actors are having a hard time pronouncing some of these exclusive names.
"Tetdrich" pronounced as Tetochirichi was pretty funny.

Male lead is a mad tactic genius but unfortunately just loves to molest women. He probably has creepy inner mologues in the novels.
I'm not on board with the designs either. Feels pretty bland overall and suffers from same face syndrome.

Narration in the LNs is in third-person with very little focalization (except in topic scenes), that is kind of given if your main character must surprise the readers.
So no creepy inner monologues, actually no inner monologues at all.
