Why did I start watching anime?
There was one cheesy show on tv called Naruto, my younger brother watched it every day. Since I had nothing smarter to do I decided to watch one episode. It was episode 64, the one where Shikamaru owned Temari. I fell in love :D Other than that, I really like badass guys in shows I watch. Quick explanation of my favorites list: 1. Baccano -> When you watch anime without even taking a break even once, you know you love the show. When you are both fascinated by characters, story and humour, you know you love the show. And I do love it. It's perfect almost every sense of that word. Perfection at its best. What amazes me the most is the fact I loved 99% of characters. It didn't matter if they're psychotic murderers, they are just too great not to be loved. 2. Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen -> I actually had to remove another show from favorites list just to add this one. It's perfect love/action story. Unlike it's "sequel in nature" Rurouni Kenshin, it's serious, it has great characters and beautiful soundtrack. Must be my 2nd favorite show. 3. Seikai no Senki 2 -> Being romantic that I am, Crest of the stars was a must see for me. I liked the first one, liked other ones, and simply loved this one. Unlike Seikai no Senki which went more into analyzing the combat, this one was pure romance and relationship. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fanboy of stupid romances like the one in "Twilight". This one is actually done great. Without doubt my favorite show of them all. 4. Kuroko no basket -> Newest addition to my favorites list, this is the show which I started watching out of boredom (I don't like basketball!). Characters are varied, very well explained, beyond well developed and the pacing of the show is beyond good. Everything in this one is top notch. Really hoping for second season. 5. Code Geass -> I won't go into too much details, this is not a review, but this show had it all. Battles, Mecha, badass main character, romance, twists, you name it, it had it. Pure perfection. I just couldn't get enough. Luckily R2 was almost as good. The fact it ends with a cliffhanger just made me want more. Hopefully there won't be more, it would ruin the perfect ending show had. That's awesome, man. It's sad that Naruto is about to end, after all these years.
As for his family. The family does recognize his strength, but they cannot recognize him as a proper magician. It is hard to break tradition. His family knows he can be a threat to them. Hence, they use Miyuki to ensure he won't ever betray them. As long as he remains Miyuki's guardian (a position he will never relinquish due to his emotions) and so long as Miyuki is in position to become the next head of the family, they can keep Tatsuya under their control. And yeah, the whole backstory as to why Miyuki has sworn herself to Tatsuya isn't revealed until Volume 8. The anime isn't even done with Volume 4 yet.
And I can understand you're frustration. I've read the novels. So the anime is pretty much entertaining for me to watch since I can see the characters animated. So yeah :)
Tatsuya is viewed as a bad magician by his family because he cannot wield regular magic that well. He is not good at altering things with his magic. Being able to alter things with magic is viewed as the international standard of being a good magician. Tatsuya has two types of magic he can wield, decomposition and regrowth. So he can destroy things, and heal things to the way they were before. But he can't alter things with his magic. These two types of magic are extremely rare and powerful (as you know). But because he has these two magics, he is unable to wield "regular" magic. So hence, he is seen as incompetent by his family, despite being overpowered.

But anyways. you can message me here now cause i just added you and i know you well so its all good. Now getting to the topic at hand. First of all yeah 321 seems like it may be a bit padded with some filler content mixed in, but either way dat cliff hanger is going to be when things get serous. My guess is the ending of the episode will end with "him" arriving.
The next episode is when shit is going to get real as most manga's readers already know :p

Nikad nisam shvaćao zašto neki ljudi imaju želju da svima, javno, što glasnije izgalame spoilere -_-;
Jedino ne treba uzeti ozbiljno to što se događa: serija se ni ne trudi biti preozbiljna... a ljudi se ponašaju kao da gledaju neko ozbiljno književno djelo XD
