Kyoani continues to make the movies better than the actual series but this one had a lot of redeeming to do to make half decent

will say besides the outstanding visuals as expected i was all down for glass-less Kuro Kuriyama wasn't enough of it though

side note those key visuals were a lie! only Nase wore his new outfit this whole movie!

KyoTears/10 because there was a lot of it in this movie holy shit Kuriyama needs a cry counter.

After the animes meh ending that left me unsatisfied. I wasn't expecting much, she loses her memory blah blah ("totally" didn't see that coming). But I was pleasantly surprised once I started it. I'd forgotten how visually pleasing KnK was, loved the ending.. Even though I'm still a tad bit confused about wtf happened.

Overall I enjoyed this more then the anime series, pretty solid movie 9/10.

Very slow start, anyone who is not a fan of the series will probably find this movie extremely boring. Luckily I am a fan. Had some cool moments but half the movie was about the relationship between the two main characters. I would of liked more focus on learning more about the world and the supernatural elements..

So in the end, the megane guy died, but how did him going into Hiroomi's sister's body have any impact on our main duo here? I feel like its a side plot that seemed a bit out of place. Now, I still don't understand our villian's whole reason for all his actions, first movie included.

I don't know why Mirai saw him also in the illusion, why when she gave in to the youmu, why she instead became something different from the others(my head-canon is that its because of her blood or residual effects of the ring)?

Well, regardless, it was fun to watch and gets an 8/10 for not just being fun and sweet, but also having some good moral lessons to look at.

Not bad I guess. A lot of really dodgy animation though. For example the scene where Mirai is running across the tennis court, or just running scenes in general.

I found myself really unhappy with some of the dialogue as well. Not because it was bad, but because I simply didn't like what was being said (by Akihito). That's more of a personal problem though.

Good film overall, and quite a few emotional moments. I enjoyed it.
Matsuoka Yoshitsugu has hardly any range as a voice actor, and is grossly over-cast.

Yeah. I said it.

Well I am officially SICK of Mirai's pitty-party and omfg would you STOP CRYING!!!!!
I absolutely hate how she keeps going on and on and on about "I'm a monster, I never should have existed!" right in Akihito's face. Get a grip, you selfish brat! Do you always live in your own damn bubble?? They should just leave her alone to cry for the rest of her days because clearly that's what she wants. How could they make such an adorable character and just butcher her personality. It's just cruel. The best moments are the ones without her in it. Hiroomi and Mitsuki should have been main characters. The ending of the movie was very nicely done though.

Overall this movie made me more angry then anything...7/10

honestly this movie in my opinion redeemed the anime. there were many loose ends and the plot started rush at the second half of the anime. the movie's music was beautiful and man was it so emotional TTmTT, they really did a good job to evoke on that. This movie was wonderful and i am so glad i watched it <3

Well, after a few months of waiting, I have to say I am satisfied with what I watched.

I really love what they did with Mirai's character in this film, and how they put more scope on her relationship with Akihito. Tons of questions were answered (though vaguely) and there is a lot more focus on other characters than there ever was in the series, specifically Hiroomi.

But , despite the good, the flaws seem higher in count. It suffers from a lot of the TV series' flaws, the subplots are so underdone (Especially Hiroomi's, which could have been its own movie) and the villain was kinda lame (Was expecting something BIGGER, I guess). There isn't a lot of explanation about what goes on in the film either. It's all pictures attached with an "Analyze Me" sticky note. Probably KyoAni's way of being "mysterious" and "edgy".

Lastly, Mitsuki, the worst thing to happen to animation since Yui Hirasawa.

I mean, yeah, it was great, it wasn't quite there but it was still amazing, this basically had enough content for a whole season without breaking a sweat (so many things to explore and expand upon) but a movie is alright too, it did need a solid 10 or 20 more minutes tho, ending came about kinda quick.

I doubt they'll do anything else with this but oh well, there's a faint hope, like I said, plenty to explore (though I feel like it'd be kinda out of place to go back and explore the stuff showed in this movie when they already reached a "conclusion" here).

Totally agree with you. Kinda would like it if they would explain/explore/tell more about the past,. by past i mean more about Mirai 's mother/ancestors and Akihito's as well.
Other than that I enjoy the movie. However, I would have like to see more of Inami (especially her pranks even though they probably would have ruin the mood they set)

With the crap scores given to this anime on here, you would think this anime would ranked a lot worse but it is still within the top 200.

Overall I felt the crying was excessive and the bitchy attitude of that girl in the literature club got me annoyed. Sheesh.

Ending was okay but it needed a better conclusion.

Hehe... Mirai and Akihito's relationship is the kind of 'slower than turtle's race', not mattering the circumstances they went through. It is as if the relationship did not move foward and, in the end, after everything, they were only able to say: "I love you" to each other, with Akihito just saying: "Boku mo (me too)" after Mirai's confession.

By the way, and that thing (youmo) inside Izumi's eyes..? Is it gone..? O_o

The drama is really well done in this movie, Mirai is lost and doesn't understand why Akihito doesn't want to talk about her past. Great action and art as usual in this anime.
It's a solid ending with the sacrifice of her sister and the progression of their relationship. Great movie.

I was thinking in the long term and still feel kind of bad for Akihito. He's going to have to watch her grow old and die, and he will not do the same. It's good for a lifetime, but he's immortal.

The story itself was a little flat though straight forward enough. It was paced well and brought good closure to the events. I don't even need to mention the animation quality which is of course up to their signature standard. Drama was an unfortunate miss with me, I should've refreshed my memory since I only barely remembered the conclusion of the tv series.

It's better and well worth watching if only for the ending, which brings this struggling franchise up to a more deserving finale.

That was amazing... It was exactly what was needed after the 1st season. Now people can't complain about the ending because the anime's ''ending'' is only a season ending and as a season ending it was actually quite good. The series ending which is this movie's ending was great. I have no complaints about this movie actually. Oh and Hiroomi is one of the strongest character in the entire series, nice lol, always knew he had lots of potential.

Eh, it was good but they forgot about Sakura and Ai during the epic fights. Shame... If they didn't, I would have probably given it a 9, but it kept bothering me throughout so yeah..

Gosh I finally got the time to watch this movie and I must say, good job KyoAni for bringing the conclusion for the series. But that being said, I wish they could explore more, especially Mirai's past. And a lot of crying what the heck.

But my senpai-kouhai otp became canon (without kiss because KyoAni) and I'm glad they developed the other characters as well. 8/10

P.S. You will cry A LOT.

You mean the characters will cry a LOT.

Pretty average movie that would be unwatchable if not for the great animation work.
The whole thing about Mirai's "darkness" only becomes relevant because she conveniently gets amnesia. Screw all writers that reverse character developement by using shitty memory loss. They had to or otherwise their dumb story wouldn't have worked.
At least it's fairly short and visually amazing.

I'm planning too watch this, but like you said does this focus the entire story on the amnesia thing? Like you I think amnesia is pretty convenient and if it's all about that I rather not watch this.

No seriously, that disney villain out of nowhere killed the movie. And drama was everywhere. It was forced, so I didn't get into it. Sadly I couldn't enjoy this movie telling me "Cry. Go on, everyone is crying. Cry too. Come on, cry."
Well KyoAni can make god tier animation it won't save if the plot is so forced. Anyone knows if this is based on LN?

All the encounters are special, no matter how short they are.

Summary?... Crying - The Animation

Seriously, there wasn't even like a 10 minute gap where a character wasn't bursting into fucking tears for no reason.

"who am I?" - starts crying
"stares at somebody" - starts crying
"are you going to club?" - starts crying

All of the emotional impact was totally ruined because they tried to shove emotion down the viewers throat every 11 seconds.

Also found it incredibly goddamn stupid how one of the major issues of this story was Mirai not having her memories...and it ends with her not having her memories. They took that major plot issue and resolved it...by just removing it.

The entire time she kept asking who she was. They kept bringing up nostalgia moments. She kept seeing fragments of her memories. She is given her memories by the bad guy and she sees everything. And it ends with? Her not having her memories anymore. No logical reason for it. She just doesn't have them.

On the plus side, she may not have her memories but at least it ended on a happy note.
Bad guy dies. Everybody is reunited. They actually become a legit couple.

But honestly, aside from like 30 extra seconds of dialogue that ending was almost identical to Tamako Love Story.

Typical KyoAni material tbh. And this movie really encompasses everything I like and hate about KyoAni all mixed together.
