With only 4 episodes left, will this be enough to wrap it up?

The show doesn't seem to be doing so well in Japan so I have a bad feeling it won't be getting a second season.

This.

And the concept doesn't need to be expanded on any further.

It's not just about Japan though.

This will definitely sell well in Europe and the U.S.

Probably not, and I do not want one, unless they really do have stories to tell, which does not seem so.

except majority of anime profit comes from japanese buyers, the japanese discs are price expensively while american and european anime discs are bargains/cheap

so hope that japanese buys the discs of this and reach at least a 10,000 average disc sales

Not sure if something like this needs a second season, at the moment it seems like it will fit 12 episodes perfectly.

Sometimes, too much of a good thing is a bad idea.

Since its been dubbed so early I am no longer at liberty to ascertain whether or not it will have another season. The story does favor another season.

I actually disagree that it will all fit into 12 episodes. All I see is a rushed ending about to come if the anime ends without a second season. The recently aired episode (ep 9) is the closest we've gotten to a proper story. Yeah, it's about the arbiters judging people but the girl MC's story hasn't even been explained. Will she stay in that place forever? Episode 9 is also the only progress into Deccim's story that we've seen (that hazy shit with that loli chick talking to the eye-patch lady so didn't count).
I do agree that too much of a good thing can be bad but I'd much rather a completed story than a rushed one.
Pirates are evil? The Marines are righteous? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history! Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!

Series is about judging people and this is the most important part in this story. Everything else is only very good bonus.

Madhouse knows very well how to finish first season BUT everthing will be not complete because this series must have minimum 2 or 3 seasons.

sorry bad english

Onna probably won't be around anymore after ep 13 and I don't think Decim will be able to go on normally. Even if they did a second season it will probably really suck

Quite possibly, maybe, we'll be getting one. I mean, it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if we did get one, just like it also wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get one. I personally don't care either which way, at the current moment.

Lol what?

Being dubbed has literally nothing do with the possibility of sequels, and that goes for any anime.

Of course it's not doing well in Japan. Only the perverted harems and shitty ecchi series do well.

Probably not. It's not selling very well in Japan, and quite frankly I don't think a continuation would do the series any good either. It's already getting more and more stale with each new episode as it is. The concept is just too simplistic to warrant any more episodes. We've already expanded upon everything it has to offer.

Yep as mentioned before the sales are really terrible.

**1,224位/**1,136位 ◎ (***,274 pt) [*,*23予約] Death Parade

"In a niconico poll about winter 2015 anime, the show was also rated really low.
Looking from the sales ranking, death parade bluray box has been hanging around at rank 1,500-2,000, which indicates shit sales."

Seeing the high production quality of this show, the chances for a s2 are slim.

On the other hand some generic harem called Saekano is first in sales, proving again the Japanese shit taste.

Well, honestly speaking, I think the chances for a second season are quite low. It seems while DP is quite popular in the rest of the world, in Japan they don't hype it that much.

And what should a second season be about?

Well, I could think of a second season called 'Death Parade: Reborn' or 'Death Parade: Second Chance'. The cast stays the same but the story is set 30 years after 'Death Parade': Decim meets the reincarnated soul of Chiyuki again. Will he loose her again this time?

Or something like this ;D Maybe a fujoshi producer buys the rights of the anime and decides that Chiyuki should return in a male body this time. Hello, New Shounen-Ai show!

Not that this'll ever happen, ya know :D

The drama between lotus beard man and Nonna was left unanswered but I dont see why this would need a second season. I doubt a continuation would be good, unless they move on to focus on different arbiters and continue the Nonna thing... but idrc about Decim anymore now that he has emotions and Onna is gone

I wouldn't want another season as well. I think the finale was fantastic and concluding enough, and I don't want to see Death Parade pull a SAO, where they repeat basically the same story two or three times.

This show will sell as terribly as "Parasyte" in Japan.

The total of 631 Blu-ray sales in the week of release made me laugh just a little bit.

This. I'd love to watch this show english dubbed (a good one, it deserves that at least) and save it to my collection. An OVA would be dope, but a second season would be too much to ask given the poor reception in Japan.
I believe the show attempted to appeal to a global audience, if that's the case, then probably the studio won't take into account Japanese sales more than global sales. Who knows, maybe like Mushi-shi, we'll get a second season 10 years later.

i would be fine with an ova after this, but not really a second season. the ending was a little weird though and they need to wrap that up, but hopefully a movie or something will do that, but another season would be too much

I don't think so, since the ending was pretty complete and we won't get any more of Chiyuki. it's not impossible though, maybe a change of characters, more games, more suspicion of the judging system could work but it would be difficult

Madhouse shouldve adapted OMP before this one sigh. I doubt we'll be getting one, even an OVA doesn't sound all that realistic because there isn't exactly a place to bundle it with.

I think they made it way too much about Chiyuki in this season to have another season. If we do have one I think it should be about a different arbiter. Even if the show had that kind of Jigoku Shoujo genre, it went too deep with the side story and left behind the sole purpose of the arbiters.

Hopefully I'm wrong and we'll get one as amazing as this one!

Doubt it. Even back when vol.01 was up for preorder it had shit sales.

If you were to take all of the vol.01's for winter, and tier them between definite S2, maybe, average, probably not, and definitely not...DP was like almost at the bottom of definitely not.

There really isn't a need for you. That's the more important reason. We get what Nona is trying to do and how that conflicts with their purpose. They could detail a season more about that but I really doubt it.

My thoughts exactly. Sales aside, I think explaining everything would actually be worse. Perhaps one or two extra lines of dialogue would have been nice, but that's about it.

Of course, unless you want this series to be only about judgments and pretty much the undead version of Detective Conan... That being said, I just remembered I didn't finish Hell Girl.
