To continue, I'm assuming the original reason people were stunned by madoka is that the reveal trailer made the show look just like a normal magical girl show. Much like how the opening song and ending song contrast each other. (the intro makes it seem like a normal magical girl show, but the ending song is noticably darker)

On a side note, I had a look at your list to see if I can offer any recommendations of possible. I highly recommend Evangelion, even if you just watch the "rebuild of Evangelion" movies. (since they are much prettier) As well as fate/zero and a particularly great movie series known as Kara no Kyoukai. For slight convenience, I'll link you my (shitty) review of Kara no Kyoukai on a blog that I recently had to make for a university assignment (I'm not kidding lol), my page is under "entertainment".

Hi there! I read your review on madoka, and would like to respond. Before I continue, I must say that I accept your opinion whole heartedly. People woud be close minded if they just gave neagtive responses to the opinions of others :)

Now, there is one thing that I would like to comment on, you wrote about inconsistencies with the characters. The main character, Madoka, does seem to be your run of the mill, average main character, but I think this was done purposefully. As a whole, Madoka Magica can be considered a "Deconstruction" of the mahou shoujo genre (magical girl). So that explains the existense of a character like madoka, a deconstruction similar to Evangelion, in a sense. It is almost a parody of a magical girl anime, except certain elements are turned to a darker tone. Leaving the same average characters to respond.

No problem, I've watched a lot of series that are like that, or you don't see all of it. It's a lot worse when it's 100+ episodes and doesn't have a full ending, it gets you annoyed but most of them are worth watching. I've watched over 500 I think now and only one has dissapointed me to the point of not wanting to watch anime for a while which was Shuffle! I was just so dissapointed and never really liked romance anime the same as when I watched Clannad, Anohana, Toradora.. Well you know where I'm going.

I never really liked Lost, wasn't for me I suppose, but it is a strange thing to come under I guess, the only thing "Deserted island" related I've seen from normal TV is Arrow but you seem to have seen a lot of them, so your view will be more widespread.

I thought they were planning a season 2, but I'm not sure the first season reached their expectations so it might of been cut, where you could of learnt all that stuff I suppose.

No problem, I try and read reviews daily and if it's something I've already seen I like to give feedback and see why people didn't like the certain aspects that I enjoyed myself.

Just read your review for Btooom! It was pretty good, the only thing I really disagree on is the "character" section, I thought their was a lot of characterization and different characters mending together to try and escape the island, the game itself is pretty simple by only being able to use grenades to kill or escape your enemies while trying to maneuver yourself to escape incoming grenades/enemies and they tell you everything about the type of grenades as referrence to the game.

Overall it's a good review though and a good little read.
