Sort of what I think too. Whatever you think of the OP song as a song, it really doesn't fit the show. the ED is much better in that regard.

The new OP is too modern for this anime.. they recycled most of the scenes from the first OP too.. it left an impression of the anime going downhill for me. Especially when there is nothing much from this episode.

I like the new OP, it's cool but yeah, a bit unfitting. Lovely new ED esp. it's chorus! I am going to miss the old ones tho.

I prefer Soo-wan over King I now, he doesn't seem to be a villian.

Geun-tea and Ju-do's rivalry was interesting, both of them are nice character esp. Ju-do.

Alright episode, think I prefer it when it follows Yona and her companions though.

OP didn't feel like it fit but I still enjoyed it, and ED was great because...well, Akiko Shikata.

Oh man! I don’t like this opening, it promises great things but the earlier song is a lot better. I felt bad for Yona hearing that about her dad who was the greatest in her eyes but I do agree with Geun-tea though a person like him isn’t really suited to run a country. I can’t wait for the next episode!

Soo-won finally makes an appearance again and glad I am because I was actually beginning to miss the devious bastard that'll most likely be a better king than Yona's after :P

I'm gonna go ahead & speculate that one of the reasons that he's holding a mock-battle/war game/tournament is to basically prepare the generals & their tribes again for battle as opposed to just starting an actual one right away where some of them, rusty as they are, might meet their demise faster than they'd like. Another reason -and this is also based on the preview- might be to prove himself as a skilled warrior too.

I'm dying to see how it goes and what he has planned out next.

... they're trolling me with the new OP and ED. I used to hook up my laptop to my speakers and put the OP on blast. Now, will be forced to skip the songs.

Akatsuki no Yona is taking a dull turn; I'm not nearly as satisfied as I was in the beginning.

wtf. That opening is like the entirely different direction than the first one. Not that I dislike it but the contrast is just too big and I'm not quite sure if it's fitting the anime as much as the first one or any at all.

Su-won's behavior is a bit weird considering his speech at the coronation and how he behaves in private. Sure he wants to display a certain picture to the people but shouldn't he tell his generals at least some plans and give them what they want so they aren't getting suspicious of him? If he keeps up with this carefree image in front of the tribe leaders they might really start a rebellion at some point.

On a side-note. I think we can all agree that the previous king wasn't a good leader. The much more interesting question is if Su-won achieves what everybody wants without causing even more damage to the people.

People complain about this just being a "collect the dragons" quest then complain when the story adds more into the mix. -.-;

The new OP was so bad it was almost funny. I mean, the theme itself is okay, but it doesn't suit the tone Akatsuki no Yona has had up until now, and they kept most of the original animation at that. If they had gone with all-new animation focusing more on the action aspect, it might have worked a bit better, though I would have still questioned the drastic tonal change.

The new ED is okay; it suits the series better than the OP, but I still prefer the original a bit more.

I think this episode helped give us a better idea of the kingdom. To be frank, I think most of the rulers of Kouka are bloodthirsty people. They idealize and seek after war, and love the thrill of battle. It might be shown as innocent, but then again, so is Soo-Won, and his actions in the first episode were anything but innocent.

In a sense, I think King II embodies an overcompensation. He was surrounded by people who lusted after battle and violence. He wasn't a weak man or a coward, but he despised the aforementioned. That is why he prevented war. However, what makes his actions questionable is what we were shown in this episode: It appears that he took his abhorrence of violence so far that he let his own people starve and suffer; it appears that he didn't protect them. If this is indeed true, then he went too far. That doesn't excuse his murder, but it does make the people's opinion of him justifiable. However, this is only one side of the situation. King II may have had a good reason for not doing more for these towns. I don't know what sort of explanation could be found; still, it's too early to judge that he was in the wrong. We haven't heard his side of the story.

I think Soo-Won harbors a great degree of deceptiveness; or perhaps he is an even greater monster than I imagined, and his murder of King II was as an action in passing to him. If he believes King II wasn't ruling appropriately, then he has some sort of hidden plan. Again, though, we don't know the whole story. It has been largely obscured to us, almost as much as it has been to Yona.

The political aspect of AnY is one of the more interesting parts for me, so I'm looking forward to the next episode tomorrow.

Whoa, the new OP is so different I don't really know what to think of it. :O I guess it's ok, not as good as the first one tho
I'm loving the ED tho <3

What exactly is Su-won planning by acting like that? Or is it acting, I can't really tell. But definitely he's moving way too slowly and acting all pacifist-like at the moment which freaks me out.

Personally i liked the new op. The old one bored me to death and i was skipping it.
People just seem to react negatively because of it's different tone to what they got used with the first op.

Personally this episode doesn't make me wonder what Su-Won is playing. His intentions seem clear to me. What makes me wonder is what King II was doing?
I mean are shown scene that exhibit he wasn't just this weak little man like many thought.
So why was letting everything like that. At first i thought he chased peace because he thought it was better for the people even if they lost glory etc. But now we see that his peace didn't mean that people were living peacefully with food on the table. We see that many villages were dieting and the people were suffering.
So what was the point of desperately keeping that peace if their life was no better?

In fact there might be a death flag on Gung-tea and his clan.

I don't think so. Gung-tea seems to want the same things Su-Won wants and he was very loyal to his father. There is no reason to try to eliminate him. Is just Su-Won trolling really. He just doesn't want to show how he really is until he understands with what man his dealing with.

LOVE THE OPENING AND ENDING, the piano OST was beautiful as well<3

I felt the episode was weak this week, couldn't wait for the screen to go back to Yona-tachi's journey ._____.

On the new king's plans, I'm pretty sure all this cheery stuff that he's doing is actually going to make him a better king later on. Moreover, he most likely will do something to appeal to the war-hungry generals as well (other than that festival). My assumptions.

I don't really like the new OP. The song doesn't fit the overall tone of the series and the reused clips are less effective. The previous opening was very unique and captivating - one of the few I don't skip through when binge-watching a series.

The new ED I'm fine with and how it fits into the show, but I personally preferred the old one (especially because of the footage).

The first half of the episode was good. I think Yona should learn that her father was flawed and wasn't as fit to rule a country. If she wants to bring justice to her father and take down Su-won then she'll be more fit to handle the throne.

Second half I was kinda bored of. I guess it is important to see how Su-won transforms the kingdom, but Su-won himself seems kind of happy-go-lucky. And since he's usually a lot more conniving, I wonder if he's up to something.

I wonder why everyone is so quick to write off Il as unfit to rule. Just because he was a pacifist? Sure, some of the people suffered, and as king he is obviously responsible for that. But did he know about it? Did he care? Did he cause it?

And this is in the fire tribes territory. The leader of the fire tribe is more directly responsible, and any regional governors etc. even more so. And remember that the fire tribe is Su-Wons private police right now. So is Su-Won any better?

And if King Il would have gone to war etc., would that have been better? Having thousand die in battles they ultimately can't win against 3 other countries? And have just as much die to bandits who roam the lands now that everybody who could defend the tows is gone?

Speaking of, the wind tribe, who Hak belongs to, was doing mighty fine until the fire nation tribe attacked them by order of King Su-Won. And the Earth tribes biggest problem is the mine running dry, nothing to do with King Il. Heck, if they had to make weapons to support an army, it would have gone dry years ago. Other than that, and Geun-Tae hirsting for war, the Earth tribe is doing quite fine aswell apparently. If not, maybe his wife should stop planting tea, but something a bit more nutrious..
And instead of sleeping half the day and relaxing the other half, Geun-Tae could use his strength to help renovating the city etc. Thats always a lot of hard work, cutting wood, transporting the logs and the stones and so on. Would surely put his mind off for war, while at the same time keeping him fit physically.

So now we see the fire tribes land, and we see people starving, dying on the street - and it's the fault of King Il, and not the fire tribes leader, who is - as i said before - now the leader of the new kings private police/army and is lready wreaking the havoc that he caused in his own territory onto other tribes.

King Il might not have been a perfect king. Maybe not even a good. But IMHO, nothing indicates that he was a bad one, either - except not getting rid of the fire tribes leader. But compared to Su Won, who either ordered this man to stop the river flowing nearby to the wind tribes city, and to attack the merchants going there, or who at least gave him free reign..

And Su-Won killed Il, and tried to have both Hak and Yona killed, too. Maybe as more details about King Ils reign will come to light, and as Su-Wons plans unfold things will change, but for now, he was clearly a better ruler as Su-Won is. Probably better than his own predecessor, too, as that one apparently lead them from one war to the next..

I don't think I'd call them police. Regardless, that relationship is dealt with in later events that won't be seen in the anime. Unless there's a second season, anyway.[/quote]

That new OP really caught me by surprise. Huge contrast to the last one, but I love it. The ED is beautiful as well. It's hard to dislike Su-Won when he's always so care free and gentle. His appearances mask his intentions very well.

It's also interesting to see that Yona's father wasn't a picture perfect man of peace that brought great happiness to his kingdom. I'm sure there's more to his story, but I like how he did have his share of flaws. I found it very moving when Yona was aiming the bow as she heard her father's voice again. She's contradicting everything he believed in order to survive, the reality is crushing.

Episode that moves the context away from our paladins to talk about other things, I know that such a parenthesis has its purpose, just to see Soo-Won play the part of a fool to deceive others is a tad boring.
Not bad drawings and animations, pleasing even the new opening and ending.

The new ED is meh. I liked the first one better.

This episode was pretty laid back and there was not much in terms of plot development. Hopefully the story starts to pick up again soon.

Hmmmm Su-won is a lot more relaxed than I expected. He must be planning something nefarious under that carefree visage of his.

Decent episode. Fairly uneventful but it had some comedy to break up the boredom.

I'm guessing Su won is not there for nothing. I guess among his reasons could be to see the people and the country himself (so he knows what to improve on), to let the people know their king (him displaying his skills in the festival), and to get the earth clan general/head on his side. I bet he is just hiding his claws behind that pleasant mask lol.

What if Su Won becomes a good king (in terms of improving the lives of the people)? What would Yona do then? I am (secretly) kinda hoping he kept his promise when he said that he would improve the country, but then what would Yona do I wonder >__< I wonder if he'll improve the country by recklessly going to wars? I am liking the character development for Su Won too, and it's nice to see that he isn't completely pictured as "evil".

I think he's gonna be a good king. I don't think he's a bad person if we leave out the fact he killed the MC's father (who wasn't that good of a leader apparently) but if he ends up being a good king & the people like him it's gonna be hard for Yona to take over. Very interesting.

I liked the first part where Yona met unpopularity of her father that was something that added to her character.

I hated the second part which was full of irrelevant slapstick humor and where they tried to portray Suwon in cheaply kawaii manner. I got it he is trying to look himself stupid for others to think he's unsignificant but to what avail? Does he wants to be perceived as weak and replaced or killed soon?
And he's murderer and main antagonist for god's sake!

And it seem they will continue with this farce even next time.
