THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It was an alright episode. I like how the flashback were done at one point to show a bit of the White Dragon clan people. Not going to lie though but I think Ao seriously needed better parenting skills.

Still, I think Ao sees his powers as a curse so he felt he was liberated after going blind and in his view became human. Sad story though :(

The villagers say the dragon is not there. The princess used some tricks to stay. lol @ old game BGM ver. of OP. She got lost, believing a stranger, then saved by someone that later found out it was Seiryuu.

So the villagers think he is a monster because of the power on its eyes. Very cruel childhood with the previous Seiryuu. He has the bells for the existence.

Seiyuu didn't talk much in the ep., only the child Seiryuu did, so I got excited when hearing Nobu's voice as Seiyuu in preview. But what happened that make him attack the princess?

So the next ep. will be aired on January 6, 2015.

A completely different take on how people sees the powers! To use the mask to make the dragon's powers to a dormant state. To see it as a curse that everyone fears :/

Ao was rather rough but he did have some moments at the end. How he saw that he was finally free yet that would be the last of him. Having his hand out and crying as he has to leave Shin-ah alone. Just wondering how the Ao felt as a child and how the previous died even earlier really made an impact as Ao said his last word...

A long wait for the next episode but I am definitely looking forward to it.

Probably the best episode yet in my opinion. The slapstick was also toned down quite a bit to support the dramatic tone.

I didn't enjoy the entire absence of the Blue Dragon, but with a backstory this rough, I can definitely see why he lost nearly all his hopes for a new master. Ki-ja had someone to look upon and respect, Ao on the other hand was not a very reliable figure to look upon to. It's kind of unfortunate with how many backsides the Blue Dragon's eyes are inherited with.

His pet squirrel looked quite cute though, definitely something that Yona could easily get carried around with.

Well anyways, the main crew will hopefully find a way to drive away his unyielding desire to stay hidden for the majority of his life. Looks like we're going to have to wait an extra week before the next episode airs though.

Perfect episode! So much FEELZ T^T Poor Shin-Ah. They depicted the emotions in his backstory so well >.<!! His voice fits so much! :3 Confirms again and again that he's my fav dragon :)...He really was mentally strong as a kid, not falling into despair after all that shit. And Ao was such a realistic character with his suffering and how he wanted to get rid of these cursed powers so he can finally become a pure human even if for a few moments :*(

I guess this ep will let people who were fearing the dragon's will easily join them happy ^^

Loved how Yona convinced them to stay using her cuteness and Hak's injury XD

Lol'd at the difference between Kija's reaction being called Baka by Yona and Hak hahaha XD

And as usual Dat "I want u" Kyun'ing Kija and Hak's face scowling from jealousy was hilarious XD

That Hak fanservice in the beginning though.. Dem muscles over the bandages! XD

Yona made Ki-ja go "Kyuuuun" once again with he selfishness. Would've loved seeing Hak's scowling face in reaction to it. XD

Second half of the episode was amazing with Blue Dragon's backstory! Even better than the White Dragon.
Ao was one badass mentor! Although her was pretty stern towards the little guy, I understand where he was coming from. He himself had to go through some tough times previously as well.

Really felt bad for him when he was screaming to the sky as he finally realized his curse has been ridden off.. That moment when he was apologizing to little Blue Dragon just before his death. T_T

Great episode! Show will take a break next week but looking forward to how he joins Yona's squad.

That episode, especially the 2nd half, was so perfect I had to watch it again, immediately. All the emotions from reading this chapter in the manga came flooding back. Once again, compliment to all those working on this series.

On break next week, but I can't wait for the 2nd half of the series to start.

On a more foreboding note, would the same thing happen to shin-ah eventually? Or would meeting Yona and fufilling his purpose somehow stop the succession of a new dragon? I hope its the latter.

Wow. It's so sad. What an amazing episode and heart-wrenching backstory for Blue Dragon Jr. I was not expecting it to be so brutal and grim. Nothing at all like the life Ki-ja lead. All those villagers are just so... No words. And while Ao was a bit of a douche in the beginning, you could tell how much he cared and felt sorry for passing on the "curse" (although it is one badass ability for sure). That last apology to B.D. Jr. was very powerful.

And I feel like the humor has gotten better and better with each episode. I had some solid LOLs in the beginning with Yona and Hak. Also, squirrel-kun is already a baller. I can't wait for the next episode and I hope the rest of the Dragons' introductions are just as well done as this.

Well, the blue dragon sure didn't had the same fluffy childhood Ki-Jae had... What a shitty curse. And what a bunch of shitty villagers. He's gonna be much better once he'll quit that group of hypocrites.

Of course, Yona had to separate from the group while following a fucking squirrel. Damnit, Yona, you're asking to be stabbed in the back xD
Can't get enough of Hak messing with Ki-Jae.

The great point about this anime which continues to amaze me, is how loyal they are to the original manga.

And some of the funniest moments in this episode for me were: The part where Yona said "Baka ne... " and Hak said "Baka ne!" to Kija, and made him angry! Hak really likes to tease everyone, specially Kija! :))
& also I liked the part where the four of them became characters of an RPG with the anime opening music!
Not to mention that I loved & cried at the whole "Seiryuu" part.
One of the Best Best anime ever!

Nice episode overall.

I like how the situation the Blue Dragon is in is the complete opposite of the situation the White Dragon is in. People think of the Blue Dragon as a pest and a curse whereas the White Dragon's people think of him as a hero. The great difference and the way they show it through a flashback is kinda nice.

Will be looking forward to when Yona meets the Dragon again, this time knowing his identity.

Hmm very solemn and reserved compared to Kija's village.

Great fanservice~

Yes, yes, Yona is passive-aggressively seductive and lovable yet oblivious of it herself... a dangerous combo might I say.

So the village viewed the dragon as a monster? That's horrible, and his eyes are so beautiful.

A surprising amount of bloodshed.

Ao and little Blue Dragon... they're adorable but it's heartbreaking.

Such a tragic history.

Well if you were considered a demon and hated by your village all your life I doubt parenting skills is something that would come natural especially for a kid that isn't yours, compounded with the fact the kid was growing stronger while he was growing weaker by basically accidentally stealing his power and the lunacy the situation was building upon him, I think Ao did pretty great considering his circumstances.

Such a good episode! Though it was mostly a flashback episode.
I REALLY wanna see how things play out now though, Blue Dragon looks like he does NOT want anything to do with her.
I also wonder how the mask tradition got started with the rest of the villagers.
Maybe to protect the village from outsiders seeking a "masked man"?

So they *did* find the Blue Dragon rather easily. Getting him to come with them etc. is another thing though, given the circumstances.

I wonder when the power changed from blessing to curse though. Was it with the original Bllue Dragon, having retreated to a small village in the mountains, wondering if he will meet King Hiryuu again? Was it when a new Blue Dragon was born and he realized it might take dozens, if not hundreds of years, given that the power clearly manages to bridge generations? Maybe it was one of the other Blue Dragons, asking himself not if he himself will meet Hiryuu again, but if Hiryuu will ever come back?

Might also be that the villagers made the shift initially, not the dragon. Seeing how rumors of the dragon attracts unsavory people, how the power is useless in every day life, maybe some young dragon even accidently paralyzed some of the villagers..

Anyways, the current Blue Dragon clearly didn't have a nice childhood. Meeting Yona will make up for that though, and with the White Dragon he has someone to talk about his dragon powers. One can just hope that the later manages to play down his hero role in his village though..

Crying so hard ;__; It's really different how two villages have the opposite take on the dragon's power: one almost worships it as a gift and to the other it's a curse. Maybe it is because the nature of seiryuu's power is darker, paralyzing people as well as draining the power from the predecessor. Hakuryuu's is a violent one too, but I guess it would be much easier to counter than a look from the eyes. Still, it's because of that kind of attitude the village holds of the seiryuu that causes so much pain.

Ao was a really bitter person, and it's not difficult to see why he was angry all the time, especially with current seiryuu's naive questions. Ao pretty much went insane at the end, having had the power through most of his life made him suffer so much...all he wanted in the end was to die "human." It's unfortunate because even without the power, even as he continues dying slowly each day, the villagers will never see him as a human. It won't mean anything. Ahh the suffering in the seiryuu's (both Ao and the current one) backstory is too much. It was at least nice to know that Ao still had some compassion, tears flooded out as I watched Ao holding out his hand to seiryuu. Although he's bitter, he also knows what seiryuu has to suffer through. It's a love-hate relationship. He's lucky that seiryuu is such an obedient (and cute) child. Crying even harder when seiryuu took the bells and attached it to his mask so Ao could hear where he is. I don't think I cried this hard when I read the manga tbh.

Best episode so far.

Ao was definitely a bitter person. He seemed angry at the whole world, in a way, and I don't entirely blame her. The way the villagers treated them was awful. In the end he realized that the new Blue Dragon would have to go through the same hardships.

In the end they both just wanted someone to care about them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the current Blue Dragon has mixed feelings about Yona.

This week we have the current Blue Dragon's back story. He had a rough childhood. Ao, previous Blue Dragon, despised the "curse" it possessed. Even so, I think he was proud of the current Blue Dragon.

That was a great episode. I'm thankful that it's more than 12 episodes.
