Damn, they killed dragon girl brutally.

I doubt she's dead. They mentioned earlier in the episode that she's almost immortal, her weak point being her forehead. I wouldn't be surprised if she swoops in to save the day at the last minute. :)

Definitely the best episode yet. Super excited to see what happens next!

I wonder if there's an in-story reason why they decided to take out Fredrica instantly. I mean, it's obvious why the writer(s) needed to do that, as the fight would have been over way too soon with her around, but it's not clear why the fortress people would dispose of Fredrica right away while going to the trouble of capturing Akari alive. Are they aware that Fredrica is more dangerous than her appearance suggests? Were they watching her in the process of shape-shifting? Or did the writers just write themselves into a corner with an OP character?

I might be wrong, but I believe Red Chaika spoke normally too...
She didn't. There were times when she sounded slightly more fluent than white Chaika to me, but the overall speech pattern was still pretty caveman-ish.

I was shocked for seconds when Frederica was stabbed. But I realized too that she's immortal and will die if you stabbed her in brain.

The Duke's Son VA = Megumi Ogata, so this is Shinji when he stab his father? And also, Akari! D:

Who knows? When there's an intruder in someone's house, some people will hold them at gunpoint and detain them until police arrive. Others might shoot first and declare it their legal right.

Who cares if they stabbed her or not? Shit happens.

What's bugging me isn't so much that they stabbed her, but that she and Akari got such different treatment. If all the soldiers wanted to do was dispose of intruders, then why didn't they kill Akari the second they restrained her? Grad does explain why they need her alive after the soldiers bring her to him and the kid, but all the evidence we've seen so far suggests that their soldiers have a very limited capacity for independent thinking, so it seems unlikely that they would have come to the same conclusion as Grad.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the episode and I'm not going as far as calling this a plothole. There could be totally legitimate reasons for this, like Grad having the ability to see everything the soldiers see in real time and being able to control them telepathically, or him having given them an order like "First kill the least important-looking one of them to show we don't play around, then capture at least one of them and bring them over". But the point is that what we've been shown so far contains an unexplained inconsistency, and it shouldn't be my job to explain it away. I do hope I'm proven wrong by the next episode, but so far I'm getting the impression that the writers have an OP character on their hands and aren't quite sure what to do with her.

Interesting episode!
Surprised to see the team split up by enemy movements...
I just want to see Frederica on a rampage please.

Layla... I hope she is a good character.. good Chaika please.
but I feel that she will probably be the most evil of Chaika.

I'm gonna take a leap of faith and say that maybe it's because she's a dragon...

I mean, if that mind control/brainwashing is created and maintained through magic, maybe Grad fears he isn't able to use it on a magical beast like a dragon.
Plus, if indeed he is somehow altering memories of the past in order to keep the strong fighting skills. then how would he be able to alter the memories of a semi-immortal being??

This is just conjecture, but maybe he didn't knew that to kill a dragon you need to hit the brains, and though that this way, the most dangerous is out of the picture, or maybe he doesn't even know shes a dragon... seemed like only Layla saw them flying outside, maybe Ricardo and Grad only saw them after they were inside of the ship.

Okay, but I'm not accusing you of anything either. It's just things work out the way they do because it's not systematic. It might just be that you are correct and the author was looking for an easy way out. But simply killing one person doesn't mean you oughta kill the rest. If that were the case, then we wouldn't have POWs. They got captured cause they're more useful when they're prisoners.

Moreover, the soldiers are being controlled so they can't think independently, but that doesn't mean that they can't use their judgment. The wizard guy even said that he controls them while maintaining their original personality. In other words, he turns them into sheep, not zombies.

Also despite being a dragon and all, Frederica isn't as OP as she seems. Afterall, she was defeated once by Chaika and friends. The most overpowered thing about her is probably her healing abilities.

there is only one chaika, and chaika trabant is definitely the real one, remember in the first episode where arthur Gaz speaks to her about she will be used as a tool to conquer the world?

1.) Little that we know about Chaika Trabant despite that she is a wizard and is the daughter of Arthur Gaz, but if Arthur Gaz already live for more than 500 years, this practically mean Chaika is immortal too --- but then, Chaika trabant seems to lose her memories before the war, THERE MIGHT BE A POSSIBILITY that Arthur Gaz already predict this will happening, and so split up her memories into all those chaika * they did mention about Arthur Gaz had been conducting experiments on some shits.

2.) Chaika Trabant in the past could probably had been cruel herself, having her memory split up might had been ruin her original personality too

3.) Layla is either

- the new chaika
- used to be related to Gaz empire
- knows the past CHaika before the war
- or just someone who obsessed with Chaika well since Chaika is Gaz royalty

It seems all the past heroes have terrible fates after the war 0.0 I don't think Tooru will be fighting alone even if Fredrica does not come to assist him in the next episode.

Remember Zita and Viivi are also on the ship so they could be temporarily joining forces with Tooru and I'm willing to bet that Fredrica will save them all by flying out of the fortress before the army attack (I don't think they will have time to save all the other prisoners unless if they could defeat the enemy themselves and land the fortress).

It looks like Layla is another Chaika, only evil. Whether she's the true real Chaika or not, that remains to be seen but I don't think she is.

Those kidnapped girls are probably dead by now, excluding maybe a few. Hope that kid gets what's coming to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if those armored soldiers were some of the brainwashed girls as well, like Akari.

I'm surprised that adviser guy didn't seem to have more ambition of his own. I would have killed the kid and rule, rather than take orders from that little piece of shit.

I bet Layla is a Chaika too.

Akari and Toru fight and Chaika being tricked by Layla?! Next week's episode is gonna be awesome.

That blonde kid is creepy though, don't like him.

My wild guesses:

Yeah, the young guy likes to cut up people but the wizard might be using some of them to inhabit the suits. Not likely but I want to hope not that many innocents are dead.

Layla doesn't like like a Chaika but she might be a 'purple Chaika' with more of her memories retained, since the others seem to have used their memories as magic fuel at some point in the past.

Also, I'm thinking that Emperor Gaz might have been a chimera created by wizards to rule the world as their proxy, but something went wrong and thus they split it/him back up into pieces and went their separate ways. The "something" that went wrong may have caused a lot of mental instability in the wizards also.

There would be much more information about him if he really did reign for centuries, I think that the fundamental nature of that world has some secret, soft of like the false world of The Matrix or the restricted world of Scrapped Princess.

Looking forwards to teh Akari versus Tooru fight!

Episode enough.
The situation heats up a lot, but I already had "read" and understood what aim the bad guys!
Not a bad plot, narrative a bit too linear and, therefore, not possible twists, maybe.
Technical and graphic on the sufficiency.

this episode was a little too cliche, to invade the fortress, to separate, trust a stranger, okay predictable, yet turning Akari enemy was the most cliche

That Cliffhanger....

I find it funny how they couldn't figure a way into the castle at first and yet were able to just sneak through a window in the column so easily.

I'm wondering exactly how powerful that mind-control magic is, if it's permanent, then Akari might just have to die at the end of this season XD

I wanna know what the relationship between that sadistic little boy and Layla is.

Yeah, as soon as I saw that there was a bunch of soldier with helmet and a creepy mage, it was obvious that they were kidnapping those girl to make an army.

The question now is : Is Layla a Chaika? From the brief moment we saw a part of her face, she looked like Chaika. But unlike the white and red one, she doesn't have speech problem. Maybe she's the real one? I don't know and it doesn't matter since we will know it in the next episode :P

The way the soldier ''killed'' Frederika was so badass. Dat jump attack slowmo...

I wonder if Tooru will meet Vivi and the other girl and team up to get out.

Little brat child is so creepy. I hope they kill him off. Same with his partners. So nasty.

Also sort of sucks we have an evil Chiaka.. Maybe we can kill her off too. Wouldn't mind that one bit, plus it would be interesting to see if Chiaka actually can die.
