Well, I think I am a casual fan of anime... but the time I spent watching might not be so casual after all! O.o
Yes, I have watched a lot, but I tend to use anime to help me sort out my higher thoughts. It is a shortcut to building concentration. Sounds weird, right? I didn't realize I was doing it until recently... it is not really the anime that I like, but the experience of being around such talent (indirectly) that makes anime, esp. ones with complicated yet consistent story lines (Steins;Gate) and which feature people who apply a lot of strategic thinking to situations.
Humanity is not all just sleeping droids. They are human beings, and some of us are artists, some of the time. We can live. We can prosper.
More than anything, meditation and contemplation are made more worthwhile by seeing that other people did the same to improve their own minds, their health, and their potency.
Anime tends to give me more metaphors and reminders of inspiration than Hollywood. It obviously depends on the anime....

I wish everyone a great, enjoyable, and profitable 2015, and beyond!
Also, here is some of my bad poetry:
"Wise Up
Get your barriers up
Sell your Gold to gain a Pearl;
hold onto the Pearl
and flee from the Sea of Daeth
Put Truth upon your forehead
and flee the Shadow of Maeth,
Sub-human Golem,
Find your Joy Of Being,
Enjoy the Ship of Living."

Thanks, happy new year to you too :)
I think that I understood the core principle of your comment about the rising of individuals in a system for improving it.
I dont compare anime with another, I give a score based on performance alone. Lain has a good story but it is told in a very convoluted and very boring way. P.S. Lain and Psycho Pass are not comparable, but you can compare Lain with Texnolyze and Psycho Pass with Ghost in the Shell.
