I'm still in awe at how satisfying that final scene was... since I know the novels are still on-going, I didn't expect the series to give such a nice sense of completeness. Fantastic job.

It's good that they ended Hyouka this way. Oh and btw

Well, the early blooming of the cherry blossoms was basically the entire point of the metaphor. When "Spring Comes" it means that your love has bloomed. Even though Houtarou says it's cold, Chitanda points out that "it's spring". Meaning, Houtarou's feelings are well on their way to blooming (they're sprouting just like the plants shown right at the end). It's no surprise they've referred to Houtarou's destination as the "pink-coloured life". All the metaphors came full-circle.

this is why I love most of Kyo's products, there are always some meanings in every scene.

I agree. With the series of the episodes, I already prepared myself for an unsatisfying ending, but they were able to wrap it up. It was soooooo goood! Especially the development between Chitanda x Oreki. I mean, those damn hints were smooth~ totaaallly great! :D

This has been an enjoyable watch for me. From the 1st episode until the last, its still 10/10 for me. I want a season 2., though it may not be impossible but I don't think I can get any news soon.. Anyway, this ending is good enough to satisfy us.. if there's more then there will be a lot of things to look forward to. especially with the romance part..

Thankyou for this wonderful anime. :D

I just wish they elaborated a bit more on Satoshi and Mayaka.

A pretty good ending for a slice of life, mystery anime. Didn't complicate things with Romance, the whole episode flowed really nicely. Loved the bit when Oreki realised his own feelings that was nice.

its said to say this but, I don't think this anime will ever get a season 2, theres just not enough material, but I think a movie is possible and give this series a proper romance wrap that it deserves, then it'll be a prefect way to end a amazing anime!

The stroke of realization was done brilliantly. I've never seen a character understand his feelings so powerfully and so meaningfully before. It easily outscored any 'realization moments' in any shojo anime/manga. This is one of the things I'll remember most strongly about Hyouka.

A movie, if done anywhere near as well as the anime, will be a perfect finish to an already beautiful piece of art.

Either way, we'll miss you Hyouka.

One of the anime that I'm pretty satisfied without having a second season. Felt so so at first but Hyouka grew on me.

I wouldn't mind a movie though.

One of these days I gotta ask KyoAni how it feels like to be made out of awesome...

The episode itself was beautiful in every way of the word and *nearly* perfect, had the last moment really happened. But hey, it's up to the viewer to imagine a possible future between those two and given Hyouka's mystery theme it's quite the fitting ending in my book. All in all I greatly enjoyed my weekly experience of Hyouka and overall rate it 8/10.

I will miss Hyouka soooo much, but I don't want the second season, because it could ruin the impression from the first one. But the idea of movie is very nice ^.^
And I really loved Oreki understanding his feelings and that "taking care of business" thing. It was so, sooo cute :3

There will definitely not be a second season. I do however think there is a strong possibility for a movie or short OVA series to adapt the 5th volume and conclude the animated narrative.

An absolutely beautiful episode. The visuals and music had always been top notch but my expectations were blown away this time. I mean seriously the only word is beautiful.

In any case as it's been said previously, I myself wish his fantasy was indeed a reality as that would of been the sweetest confession ever. But, it is definitively confirmed now that he has accepted his love her Chi-chan. That in itself is a huge plot mover. I know nothing of the 5th volume but going off of Oreki's character, although he has tentatively chosen a different path, I don't see him ever letting Chitanda follow her path alone. I feel this is a case of two halves a make a whole.

Fuck that fake confession. Fuck everything. FUCK.

...with that out of the way, it was fun overall. Mystery + slice of life turned out to be a decent combination, and needless to say the visuals were just brilliant all the way through. The mystery element was disappointing though. The mysteries would have worked out better if 1) the characters didn't care so obsessively much about each pointless mystery, focusing more on character chemistry or 2) the mysteries had better written and had something more at stake than Oreki's pride and Chitanda's curiosity. And it would also help if characters than Oreki were slightest bit interesting before the final parts. Well, it was pretty good. 5/10 overall, enjoyment 7/10.

I feel quite ambivalent about the series as a whole, to be honest. On one hand, the animation and the soundtrack are all very nicely done. The consistency and quality of the artwork is nothing to scoff at. Characters are set in place with room for development -- although Oreki is in my opinion the only one who changed in a noticeable way. I would say it's the most flawless series of the season. But that's it. Personally, it didn't arouse my emotions as some of the other series have. There's very little central narrative to speak of. Everything felt somewhat episodic -- as one small mystery unfolds after another in daily life.

Even the ending feels like there's something left to be desired. They're going on separate paths, and Oreki doesn't seem to be willing to confess. Meanwhile, Satoshi and Mayaka are still playing the waiting game...

It's a great series. But it wouldn't go down as one of my favorites after ep. 22. Maybe a second season could change that though.

It was an acceptable ending I guess. I wasn't mad or happy about how it ended so I'm just relieved I wasn't mad. The series had too many moments where I felt bored watching so I rate this anime a 7. Would've been 8 had it not been for those episodes where I felt like dropping.

around 7/10 for overall series but at times, i wanted to push it to 6/10
3/5 for this episode. better ending than arcana lol but it still didnt impress me

this episode was boring on most parts in my opinion, especially the "mystery" they had :/ the only scene i enjoyed were the mayaka/sato/houta scene and rose-coloured scene at the end.

the animation is so beautiful. reminded me of 5cm per sec, but the anime version haha :p

Beautiful ending, the fake confession was very evil of Kyoani but it was also very sweet. Aww, I'm so glad Oreki realized he's in love with her~
And since we still have an entire light novel left, I'm guessing a movie is still in order. ;)

if they only showed Oreki finally CONFESSED his feelings to Chitanda not a freaking Oreki's imagination then I would have given this a 9 out of 10 or maybe a PERFECT.

BUT cuz of that unsatisfying ending. A not so solid 8 out of 10.

I'm going to miss this series. The ending satisfied me. It didn't feel like an ending, but it also did not feel like there NEEDS to be a second season (although i really want one), so it did very well on that part.

Wow, this show has one of the greatest turn around's in anime that iv'e seen in a while. I really didn't care too much about this series tbh at the start. But it seems like around the time the summer season started it started to get much better. I think what made it so much better was the focus on the characters rather than the mysteries in the second half. We really got to see what the 4 main charecters have been struggling with and we got to see them shelled out. Not to mention we saw a really nice, subtle touch of romance in the series as well. If a second season of this series is greenlit it could easily be an 8-9/10 series if it continues at this pace. I'll give Hyouka a 6/10 for the first half and between an 8 and a 9 out of 10 for the second half. I really came to like this series and am truly going to miss watching it every week. let's keep our fingers crossed for a season 2
