Nigun and his goons? Interrogation torture and became test subjects from brutal experiments regarding the potency of healing magic. It's not a pretty thing though it does get mentioned from time to time.

Yes Volume 5 is currently being translated. I am actually reading it right now.
Yeah DxD got changed this season buuuut they are adding a side novel story to say how the anime developments were a result of Loki going back in time and tampering with the past. But should still try the novels :P
Overlord so far is about as good as we can hope with only 13 episodes to work with. There is a quite a bit of informations left out and a few perspectives don't get shown like Nigun's thoughts while he's getting his summons trashed.
There's a lot more detail in the Overlord novels and the volumes for the novel tend to be on the really large side.

I have not watched World Trigger no. As for the next season I am most looking forward to second part of Unlimited Blade works and D x D season 3
The dominant fujo ship is Allen X Kanda. Just typing that out makes me want to puke. Second would be Allen X Lavi which again makes me want to puke.
