So as a kid many of us had a particular childhood favorite game we liked.

In my case it was KH 358/2 days for the ds and that was my first jrpg, square enix game and KH game.

As a kid i really liked the hack and slash gameplay and the ability to level up and be more powerful as you progress through the game. The story well as a kid alot of what i played was simplistic but this one was pretty complicated even by kids game standards.

Even as an adult, i'm still really confused by the story to this day.

Now how do i view the kingdom hearts series now? Not really that good tbh.

The stories are confusing as hell and Kingdom Hearts 3 is the worst game in the series beating Chain Of Memories for me.

Do i still like Square Enix? well to be honest the only game i like from them post merger is TWEWY. I wouldn't call Nier a Square game because well its Yoko Taro and he should be the one to own the rights not Square since they can't really handle the games now and they're really weird with sequels and franchise milking.

Square Soft is how i preferred Square when they made great games like Parasite Eve,Xenogears and FF7 (the best final fantasy game)

So do you guys have a particular game back as a kid that you still like or not realy?

Well, there's a couple of those I want to talk about...
  • Super Monkey Ball - This was both my first GameCube game and Sega game. Always have fond memories with this one even if I hated the extremely steep difficulty curve (seems a lot of GameCube games have notable difficulty curves... think about it, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, this game... lol). Still like it, but I have become more vocal about how crazy hard the Normal Mode campaign is. Did get Super Monkey Ball 2 a few years back and I agree with many others that it is definitely the better game of the two with better difficulty and more party games.
  • Mario Party 6 - This was my first Mario Party game. The day-and-night cycle mechanic is so innovative that it's honestly insane that it never returned in future installments of the series. Still really fun even after so long, especially with friends, though I admit that I've been playing more of Mario Party 4 recently.
(can't blame me tho, it has FRICKIN B♢♢KSQUIRM)
  • Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - I don't mean to flex, but I really do want to express how grateful I am to have actually grown up with this game... because it is really sad to see how increasingly difficult it is for others to legally play this game, and it is an absolute outrage that Nintendo doesn't seem to be interested in returning the series to its roots or just rereleasing this game onto the Switch for a new audience. I played a bit of it as a child, but didn't get past the first two chapters until I restarted my file in my later teen years. Very enjoyable back then, and it still is to this day. Still need to play the original Paper Mario though.
  • RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 - The first two RollerCoaster Tycoon games are childhood favorites, but I have admittedly played this second game more. Still absolutely amazing, but I've learned to realize that it's not perfect—the first game has better, more interesting scenarios and a much easier difficulty curve (the first game's levels are unlocked procedurally while the second game organizes its list of scenarios into sections based on difficulty and lets you pick any of the available scenarios from default... but most of the scenarios are very difficult and some of them honestly don't feel like they're put in the right difficulty section *cough cough* Amity Airfield lol), while the second game has way more rides/stalls and scenery to pick from and has a bit more refined gameplay mechanics (thank God they added block brakes...).
  • Pokémon Silver + SoulSilver - Silver was my first game, and SoulSilver was probably the first game I could truly say I owned without it being some hand-me-down or something. Johto felt so alive even through the classic pixel chibi style, and revisiting the region through the DS has been one of the most pleasant gaming experiences I have ever had—a love letter to older Pokémon fans indeed, as the remakes' director had hoped to achieve. I have tons of nostalgia for the Pokémon series in general, so I might as well just talk about it generally in this bullet point. I still enjoy many of the older games, especially those in the DS era, but I don't really consider it as my favorite game series of all time anymore simply because I have played more RPGs since then and have realized that the Pokémon series is kind of not that exciting of a RPG series gameplay-wise. I often find myself pressing the A and B buttons in response to attack animations as if I was playing Paper Mario: TTYD again, just to pretend that my actions had an impact on the gameplay... it would be awesome if a Pokémon game had gameplay like that, but alas, a foolishly hopeful wish that is........ *sigh*

I would leave it at that brief list and call it a night, but you mentioned Kingdom Hearts and I really want to give my brief thoughts on that and your experience with it.

...thanks for the thread by the way. Nice topic. :)

I still like the crash bandicoot trilogy as much as I did as a kid.
I like FFVII more now that I can understand it. The story and atmosphere really hold up even with the PS1 graphics.
The first Medal of Honor doesn't hold up. The sequels like allied assault on the other are still great.
Doom is as awesome as ever although now I've discovered how superior the PC version was to the PS1 version.
Tekken 1 and 2 are bad. Tekken 3 is still great.
I still like age of mythology although now I consider it a mid tier RTS instead of the best thing that has happened in gaming.

Tbh, I don't really want to touch most of the games I play as a child but I'm open to the idea of newer entries to the series.

Pokemon doesn't seem as fun as back then. I admit they added a lot of features, though.
Sonic is boring from what I tried now, but I'm still open to platform games.
I couldn't even be bothered with trying Diablo again.
Final Fantasy is still a hit and miss with me.
MGS I haven't even bothered at all.
Unless you want to be going into the Sega genesis stuff, lol.
Or stuff that have gone out by now.

Okay lol I played so many so I'll just give a few examples.

Double Dragon on Atari ST
Extremely hard, most times had to play co-op with my sister to clear it. Today, it's still hard but a little easier as I found that you can plug a Sega MegaDrive Controller into an ST and it'll play much better. One of the worst things about the ST was the joystick (it was still the 2600 one) funnily enough we used to fight over a 3rd party joystick called the Zipstick which was a million times better than the official Atari one. I can clear it by myself no problem now using MD pad.

Streets Of Rage 1 & 2 Sega MegaDrive/Genesis
Loved it then, love it now. Most of my whole family loved these 2 games. Played it countless times with my sis. And my eldest sister used to play it with her husband.

Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine Sega MegaDrive/Genesis
I found this Soooo difficult as a kid, because LV1 easy and LV2 quite a lot harder. I didn't give up though, and over the years I got better at it and cleared it. It's now my all time favourite game, I can't clear it without dying and having continues but I can clear it. Many people still seem to not be able to even do so which I find gratifying.

Destruction Derby 1 & 2 Sony Playstation
Not much change, love them as much I did when I was a kid. Although I find the Sega Saturn version of DD1 the better port.

Command & Conquer games up to Red Alert 2
Still love playing them, shame the series took a huge downfall.

Wrestling games - WCW Vs NWO Revenge (N64) WWE Wrestlemania 19 (GC) WWE Smackdown! here comes the pain (PS2)
No change.

Considering I was almost entirely a Nintendo kid growing up, yes. Nearly all of Nintendo's games age really well and I still enjoy them to this day.

Only games from my childhood that I wouldn't enjoy now are most of those cheap "bargain bin" 3rd party DS titles I played before I even knew what a 3rd party developer was. lol

The only games I've played as a child are pretty... few. I remember back then that me and my brothers used to play minecraft, and it was fun playing on a LAN server. We also played online minecraft, but that really didn't go well. Then the game, or rather, platform that replaced Minecraft was Roblox, and we had a shit ton of fun playing on that platform. Like Work at a Pizza Place, Phantom Forces, and... I forgot the other titles. Like some obbies(parkour in Roblox terms), tycoons, pvp arenas, a lot of stuff. Pretty fun. One of my favorite Roblox games was Miner's Haven, which is basically Factorio, but for kids. Lol. It was fun having to unlock dropper after dropper, furnace after furnace, upgrader after upgrader, in the rarly stages of the game, till it became a reborn item collector game, which I found fun, at least in the early stages, though it pretty much ended up being grindy, which is... pretty much meaningless. Well, at least when I finally sacrificed for the 2nd time, and got the Ultimate Sacrifice, I felt really accomplished. Though like... looking back on it, what was the point? Grinding for so long isn't really something nice to look back on. Well, at least it gave me an experience on collecting. Like gacha collecting to be specific. Lol. Maybe that experience is the reason why I devalue gacha games that require money? That's actually a pretty good resistance to have. Lol. So Ig there's still some positivity to take from it. Anyways, then parents bought an Xbox 360 for me and my brothers, and we had games like CoD MW2, F1 All Stars, um... forgot the other games. Though I remember we had Kinect games, and they were definitely fun. When I watched NorthernLion play Nintendo Switch Sports some time ago, I felt a bit nostalgic, and also lucky, since it seems like Kinect sports are way fucking better than Nintendo Switch Sports. Oh, besides the soccer. They definitely won on that one. XD. But yeah, me and my brothers had a lot of fun playing Kinect. Playing volleyball, bowling, tennis, even water rafting? Damn, lol. There was also darts and ping pong. Nice. XD. Super shots in ping pong and bowling made us feel hype. Ohhhh, the track and field one. Lmao. Javelin throw, disc throw, run and jump, whatever those track and field sports are called. Those were fun as well. Omao. Getting those holy shit records in Javelin throw. Like throwing the javelins with red lines trailing beyond them. What the fuck? Lol. So much power somehow. That was a lot of fun. Though it pretty much got old since it's the same thing over and over and over again. Though it was definitely still fun. I would definitely love to play Kinect with my brothers again. As adults lmao. Well, the nostalgia will bring back the good times. :) . Anyways, the games that I've played as a kid were a lot of fun. Well... it depends. I definitely would despise online minecraft. Offline minecraft or LAN minecraft is perfectly fine though. Roblox games? Um... it depends. The Roblox games I've played in the past are just simple games that I don't find that much value in. Especially after the games I've played nowadays are like Shovel Knight, Iconoclasts, even visual novels like Virtue's Last Reward and Danganronpa. If I were to play Roblox games, I would only play the ones which focus more on players having conversations. Like a "sit nearby a campire and talk to other players" type of game. Oh, hangout is the more better term lol. I remember having simple and relaxing conversations back then, and it was pretty cool. As for Kinect games, I'd play them every once in a while with my brothers or something. They're simply party games lol. Welp, that's about it Ig.
Neat.
Also neat.
And another.
+ another one.
And another one.
Then have one more.
Actually, have two more.

Doom was a fun FPS, just a run and shot game. but still fun and gory for its time.
Rainbow Six, so much more tactical and strategic. I only had the demo, but man as a kid I though its a FPS Action, man was I so wrong. Once I learnt the team functions and commands, Taking out that hostage situation was a breeze.
Gunstar Heros. Insane anime side scrolling shooter with alot of memorable moments and levels.

I have found that a lot of people that loved Kingdom Hearts when they were younger didn't enjoy it as much when they returned to it as an adult. A lot of people won't accept what I am about to say, but Kingdom Hearts is the type of series you're supposed to enjoy as a child but woud cringe at as an adult. The dialogue is made for children and it becomes more and more clear the older you get.

"I don't need the Keyblade. I have a better weapon. My heart"
"I don't need a weapon, my friends are my power"

It's all a bit cringe.

Streets or Rage was a series I grew up with that I actually like more now as an adult. I always like them, but back when I was a kid they were just another game series I liked amongst the rest, now though, I find myself regularly going back to them and having more fun with them than ever before. You have to play them with the speakers loud too because the soundtrack is amazing.

This game remains a gamecube exclusive in most regions, as it has never been rereleased for newer platforms. Gaming was better back in the day.

Generally yes. A few stand-outs.

Final Fantasy IX. Very underappreciated, but is starting to get the praise it deserved back in the day now. Unfortunate releasing timing probably had a lot to do with it. Should've been a PS2 game and it would've been bigger back then imo.

The original Crash Trilogy. N.Sane did a great job updating these games and making the first game not feel so unforgiving and like I was playing Bloodborne at 5 years old. But, there's some wonky stuff with how Crash handles in the 5th warp room levels (Crash 2) against the environment, making the levels feel harder than in the original games.

Star Ocean: Til the End of Time. I don't think the game itself aged well, it's quintessential bad PS2 graphics, but the story did keep a hold on me and I remember most of it. I generally go back and play the Last Hope more because the gameplay is way smoother, but Til the End of Time was a basis for my D&D campaign that I run now.

Oddworld. Specifically the Abe games. I hadn't played Munch's Oddysee until a few years ago. I loved the games for the puzzle aspect, but as I got older appreciated how direct Lorne Lanning was with his criticisms of corporate greed. New N Tasty was pretty good, SoulStorm I'm mixed on. But overall, the story still stays strong, both in the original and the new games.

I would disagree. Sora as a character is pure Disney at his heart.
"You've got a friend in me" kind of deal.

But when it comes to concepts like Riku accepting that good and evil can work together. I think there's some stuff to be said about that. Maybe your analysis of the series is more directed towards Sora himself and his childish side.

Part of people not liking Kingdom Hearts anymore might just be able to be attributed to how nonsensical and convoluted the story has become over the years. What they thought they understood isn't true anymore, KH1 aged horribly compared to KH2 (though the remastered 1 is extremely smooth compared to the original), etc. Or just the fact that Square released all these damn side games most players didn't know about because counting to 3 apparently means adding additional things.

Some examples of games that I still enjoy:

-Resident Evil. Got the original from my friend at 13, loved it, and proceeded to play through the rest of the series.

-Metal Gear Solid. Watched my dad play through MGS2 when I was a kid. I always remembered that, and so, I bought MGS4 years later. Since then, I have played through all of the mainline games (with the exception of Peace Walker), and is still one of my favourite franchises.

- Zelda. Played most of the mainline games as a kid (Ocarina, Majora, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker), and still enjoy revisiting them.

- Paper Mario. The first two games in particular. Still impresses me with how much these games ooze personality, and customization options.

There are some games that I don't think aged as well. As a kid, I was obsessed with Sonic, and, even though I still like Sonic Adventure 2, I can't say that I hold it in such high regard anymore. The same with LittleBigPlanet. It loses some of the magic that it had, revisiting it today, when nobody I know plays it anymore. That was very much a social game, that is best left in the past.

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes

Square Soft is how i preferred Square when they made great games like Parasite Eve,Xenogears and FF7 (the best final fantasy game)

So do you guys have a particular game back as a kid that you still like or not realy?
Love parasite eve and final fantasy 7 those games were my jam growing up, too bad the parasite eve franchise is dead in the water and final fantasy hasn't really been good since the ps2 era, as for kingdom hearts yeah the writing in those games has always been pretty bad but the great gameplay made up for it and the final fantasy cameos were fun too.

I can't think of many which I used to like which still don't, here's a quick run down of ones which I played as a child and played again recently

The Legend of Dragoon - Still holds up well and is a lot of fun, but the inventory space limit is annoying.
Final Fantasy VIII - Don't have any complaints with this one
Digimon World 2003 - Seriously needs a fast travel feature, but otherwise still a ton of fun.
Streets of Rage (& 2) - Still play these a ton, no complaints.
Road Rash 3 - The frame rate is annoyingly slow at times, but aside from that I still really like it
Armored Core - No complaints, still like this one as much as I always did.
Future Cop LAPD - I like this game when it works, but its very picky about the PC/Mac that you run it on. Really needs to be run on an era-appropriate old PC or PowerPC-based Mac.

I just turned 27 now so...

My favourite game when I was 6 (2001) was Perfect Dark & it's still my favourite game. 10/10

My favourite game when I was 16 (2011) was Mortal Kombat 9 & I still love it, It's still my favourite fighting game. Played in many tournaments, won money matches offline/online, ran clans, I am still one of the best Jade players & I met a lot of friends when I was part of the community. 9/10

Luckily I grew up in the golden age of jrpgs

Tales of the Abyss-yep still good. My intro to the Tales franchise somewhat confused me then, but now its my fave jrpg franchise for its emphasis on exploration, combat, and silly convos rather than plot(tho plot is good too)
Xenosaga Episode 1-the religious symbolism flew over my head at the time, but the setting has always fascinated me. I want sci-fi jrpgs like the xenoseries to be a genre rather than a theme that's unique to them
Wild Arms-One of my favorites, love the sountrack & western theme. The puzzles in dungeons are amazingly done, and quite fun to figure out. The remake's not bad either, tho i prefer the original
Valkyrie Profile 1
Avoided hard mode when I was younger, now that I'm older and realize hard mode is actually easy mode due to all the ways you can break the game I always go hard mode when I replay it and make sure to grab the accessories treasure search and bracelet of zoe ASAP, then hold on to useless items because they lead to the OP stuff like the Tome of Alchemy, creation jewel, dimension slip, ect. via transmutation.

I'm just eternally sad that because of business world shenanigans every game in the franchise has a sequel hook that is never followed up on and the original was the only one with experimentation as a gameplay element

Ar Tonelico
After revisiting it, what was unique at the time comes off as very cliche nowadays and was very much a product of its time. It's more the fact it's an introduction/set up for concepts that will be further developed in the 2nd and 3rd games, the hymns, and the aesthetic that make me want to defend it honestly. Now the franchise itself is home to ideas I consider so unique I will never see another franchise like it

Yeah, I've got Chrono Cross, FFVIII Remastered, and FFX/X-2 HD Remaster on my Switch and I love 'em. I enjoy being able to play the games I loved as a kid on a platform different from the Playstation. It's a nice change of pace. Also a nice boost of nostalgia whenever I start up one of those games.

Buggs Bunny: Lost in Time is not the masterpiece I remember it to be:)
N-Gen Racing was never a good game, i knew I was fooling myself thinking otherwise...
The first Medal of Honor is decent even today
Blood Omen 2 sucks when I compare it to the rest of the series today
TH's Pro Skater 3 is still the best in the series IMO
The original Deus Ex is still a contender for the best game ever made
Syphon Filter 1&2 can't hold a handle to MGS1
Crash Team Racing still kicks ass
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped still kicks ass
Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption is still a glitchy mess...
Fallout 3 is far below the excellence of F: NV

Used to play a lot of PSP and DS games back when I was a kid. Mostly remember a lot of Pokemon and Naruto (especially Ultimate Ninja Impact which had QTEs, which were my favourite part of the game) games back in those times along with God of War. I also remember playing Tekken 6 on the PSP too.

As for the PS2 though, it was Ultraman Fighting Evolution 3. The game never really had an English version, but it never really stopped me and my bros from actually playing the game. Always loved the combat and all of the ultraman in the game. Looking back, I still think it's a pretty good game. Though I think it had a lot of annoying things hindering back the enjoyment, it's still a worthwhile experience.

It's super strange.

I played A Link to the Past a ton as a child on GBA. Loved it. I recently did my first randomizer run of the game and just casually got 208/216 checks by the end. It's weird. The adventure of my childhood is gone but I can still randomize shit to make my adventure new again.

Also I am a complete moron. After my run I look at the spoiler log to see where the fuck my final sword upgrade was and I was THAT idiot who forgot about the waterfall chest in the Swamp Palace. What kind of neanderthal am I for not checking behind the waterfall?

For shame.

The Jak and Daxter series is my fav from my childhood and i still think it holds up to this day not visually graphics vise but i do think it has a very cool aesthetic and the mechanics in the game are still very good but playing on a ps2 definitely leaves some things to desire.

Out of many games that I've played through my childhood, one series that I recently picked up again was the Metal Slug series.

Honestly, the Metal Slug series still holds up to this day imo. From the wacky yet charming character animations to the varied and well-made backgrounds, enemy types, bosses, levels design, music, and obviously the gameplay which felt quite impactful due to the myriad of effects used in the game. Those games are still a blast to play through.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, I didnt play it when it first came out but it is one that when I did play it, was one that stuck with me and just never gets old. Even now I still replay it and reget it on modern systems whenever its available. The soundtrack is just fabulous and the sense of speed is awesome. I miss when games were this simple.

I doubt I'd enjoy any of the games for my first computer today, the technology was just too primitive. The arguably best thing on it was just a Pacman clone.

There are plenty of Amiga games which still hold up today though. Even some kinds of things which have been lost, when was the last time you played a strategy game in which "I need to attack that town so we can take their sheep as food supply for my army" might be a decision you make?

Although I tended to be drawn towards the sorts of games which further technology improvements are very much useful for. My favourite Amiga game at the time might have been Civilization. Who chooses that over its sequels nowadays?

But I still play Sensible World Of Soccer on my emulator from time to time.

the king of holding up is jet set radio future. i literally set up my xbox to play it again cus no emulators, turns out i had 100 hours on my save file lmao. was also on the last boss didnt beat it though. that one i remember being 10/10 and yeah its still one of my fav games, amazing status for a game i only bought cus it was bundled with sega gt 2002 at the used game store for $2.50 and i wanted to play the one with cars...

morrowind holds up as well, also one of my fav games still. i used to go to gamefaqs and print out in the game books and read them when i wasnt playing the game! even my young self saw through the later elder scrolls games fancy graphics, if it didnt have a spell that made u jump 5000 feet into the air it meant it was a shit game.

some dont hold up though like need for speed. i played many in the series and none of them do. at least midnight club has good music and its a bit charming that its a bunch of weeaboos making a knock off wangan midnight

@peacefulbatman sometime maybe i will try fallout new vegas again because everyone says it has great writing but im pretty sure the entire thing is just dripping with cringe so i wont and i will hate it eternally and all 3/nv/4/whatever fans, but i will play fallout 1 and 2 sometime even thoguh i didnt like them when i was younger. especially bcus they have knockoffs of aphex twin saw2 tracks on the soundtrack. like they have actual good 90s electronic soundtracks not a bunch of cringe licensed 40s/50s music.

@16-Bit-MegaDrive im about to reply to ur 1 month old post to say armored core is gr8, i bought the second when i was a kid cus it was on sale for a dollar and loose so no box art or anything, did not even know the genre. had a lot of fun with it though and played recently 100% holds up.

@NotToffee tf2 is weird for me i got 1k hours in it but i stopped playing and got into other games, and i remember going back in and the movement just felt really floaty and bad. maybe id like it more now that its been a while since i played another fps lmao. cus i was coming off overwatch then where you have high air control... but then again, i got into quake fork stuff as the last fps i regularly played and anything not running cpm feeling movement just feels stiff to me and i'm sure tf2 is like that but slower.

@Crow_Black u better play majora's mask its the best. also 1 of the zelda games i DIDNT play as a kid, i tried wind waker again recently and it didnt hold up at all lmao. maybe how the art held up so well had me thinking it was gonna be the greatest thing ever like i remember it which sets u up for failure.

The writing in NV is leagues better than FL3 or 4, since NV was made by many of the same guys who made the first two Fallouts. So, even if NV 'looks' almost identical to FL3, it 'feels' much more in line with the first two games in terms of writing and the moment-to-moment gameplay. Plus, there are at least 10 ultra-memorable and crazy (in the good way) side quests that Bethesda couldn't ever, ever envision (but Obsidian surely can!)

I'm not even sure what I would call the genre myself. I think Armored Core 2 was one of the first PS2 games that I bought back when the console was new, but I did play the original before that. Its good to find somebody else who is into them, I don't think it is a very popular series ^^

I have finished a fair few of them...

    Armored Core
    Armored Core: Project Phantasma
    Armored Core 2
    Armored Core 2: Another Age
    Armored Core 3
    Armored Core: Silent Line
    Armored Core 4
    Armored Core: For Answer

I have a few more which I haven't finished, I need to get around to them. Some of them are REALLY tough, like Nexus and Last Raven, I haven't been able to finish those yet.

I highly recommend it. Some parts of it are a little rough, like the limited inventory space is a little annoying, and unlike the PS1 Final Fantasy games, you can't explore most of the world on the same disc... you will have to actually put previous discs into the console to visit some of the previous areas. Those are really minor annoyances though, it is otherwise a great game.

Scribblenauts, Super Scribblenauts, and Scribblenauts Unlimited still hold up for me. I still enjoy them quite a bit. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and New Super Mario Bros. definitely show their flaws more than when I was a kid. They're still fun to play though. As for Pokémon Platinum, Heartgold, Black, and Black 2, they're still my favorite group of Pokémon games.

I enjoyed re-playing the ps1 Tomb Raider series recently. the second game is widely considered the best in the franchise but everyone is wrong. What kind of tomb raiding takes place on an oil platform? Even though it's only the second game in the franchise you can tell the team was trying very hard to avoid stereotypical settings. The first one is best because in that one you explore appropriate ancient ruins in places like Peru, greece and Egypt. Even though the outdated control scheme takes some getting used to I appreciate the precision it offers as opposed to modern Tomb Raiders where the game plays itself.

I grew up with Wii games like Mario Kart Wii, SSB Brawl, NSMB Wii and Super Mario Galaxy among many others, all games I've been unable to play for the past 5 years because my Wii stopped working. I'm sure I would still enjoy them just as much as I did back then if I still had my Wii, though. I'm sure of it. Some of my fondest memories from my childhood were made because of my Wii, all the laughter and rage quits, it's now only a memory. The same goes for my older sister's 3DS. There were many games I loved to play on it, like Mario Party: Island Tour and Mario Kart 7. Her 3DS stopped working long ago.

I also grew up with flash games from Newgrounds, ArmorGames, Kongregate etc. a vast majority of which I was able to revisit one last time in late 2020 before Flash inevitably died. I enjoyed pretty much all of them, they were just so good. I would play games like Meat Boy, Vex, Binding of Isaac, Raze, Spewer, Stick RPG, Syabon Action, Electricman 2, Earn to Die, Learn to Fly, Happy Wheels, and an endless plethora of other games that made my childhood as enjoyable as it was able to get. I especially remember beating entire games like Sticky Ninja Academy at school during class lmao. There are things like Ruffle that can allow you to play flash games and many have been converted to HTML5 (like CoolMathGames and Happy Wheels), but many don't feel the same and there are still a ton that haven't been preserved yet or will never be saved. Pixel Quest as far as I know, is still being converted. And Ninja Cat: The Quest For Magical Energy Crystals, likely won't ever work again (at least to my current knowledge on how the game was run).

The only games I feel like I won't enjoy as much will be the Just Dance titles, as I didn't really like them all that much as a kid but could still be fun nonetheless, especially when things got competitive between my siblings and I. Michael Jackson: The Experience, fucking sucked, though. Good thing we only played it once when our friends came over to our house with it. Also I really wish my parents had bought DDR instead since that was way more fun and I loved it the few times we went over to one of our friends' house. It's what led me to play FFR (Flash version of DDR but can no longer be played on browsers and can only be played if you download the R^3 build) and more recently osu!mania and other VSRG.
