So far so good as far as VAs are concerned. Can't wait to see PV Hopefully they do this justice. The fact that Wada Junichi is directing is....not giving me confidence in this. On other hand based Tatsuya Kato soundtrack so at least something good will come. LOL. Its Grave of Fireflies of Light Novels If this is adapted properly it will pretty much have almost zero action total. |

The synopsis of the series sounds very typical, but if what people about the series being more of what it seems it's true, I will give it a look. Bonus point for casting Rina Satou. |

Missed this. Lots of unknown names in there, some really surprising chocies for little kid as well. I hope satelight will be able to handle it properly, as that would be a huge waste otherwise >_<. "Only a small group of young girls, the Leprechauns, can wield the ancient weapons needed to defeat these creatures." Infinite Stratos was first thing to come to mind.... how about what I wrote in the expectation thread as a complement then : "no ecchi, no harem, pretty much no action. Science fantasy, romance, drama. Most scene happens in an "orphanage". It's a sad but beautiful tale, about the last survivor of humanity, who try to teach to a young other race the importance of their own lives, as well as to teach to others races around that this race has a right to live and be happy, and not just being considered weapon/furniture. Trying to be accepted by them, to give them the will to live, and to teach them how to survive as long as possible during their ephemeral lifespan... without throwing away their lives like they used to do until now. It's also a strange tale about the end of the "human" world, and the truth behind it." Fai said: So far so good as far as VAs are concerned. Can't wait to see PV Hopefully they do this justice. Its Grave of Fireflies of Light Novels If this is adapted properly it will pretty much have almost zero action total. Grave of fireflies LN side would probably be more another long title holder (but older), "satougashi no dangan wa uchinukenai : a lolypop or a bullet". I don't know what anime to compare sukasuka with though, as it's fairly unusual for a story. Doomdoctor said: Please don't tell me it's anything like RE:Zero. I mean the edge factor. I don't think there's really anything you could call "edgy" in this one. It's not a happy story, sure, but a calm and sad one. LunyRed said: Okay! *spots Inori Minase's name* I'm really happy that she earns another role. :') Definitely looking forward to this. Despite being currently listed as a main character on MAL, Inori Minase's character Noft/Nofuto (wrongly listed as Ifuto, should be a "no" rather than a "i") isn't really what you would call "main" at all, unfortunately. Same for Lantork. @tsubasalover : maybe you should change the "i" of ifuto for a "no" in the list- although mal database is also wrongly listing it as ifuto (despite having as a picture for the character a pic with the name clearly written on it). |

Just adding, contrary to what anime studios usually do, Satelight announced the VA of characters that aren't appearing in the first episode. This includes Noft and her friend Lantork (as they are away on an escort mission when the story starts), which both may not appear until the second half of the series, depending of the pacing. Maybe they're going to change the order of scenes or something, but if not, no Inori Minase until half way in. Hopefully yes. daAmazinFatB0y said: A plot that sounds awesome but is something you get from your generic action harems......doesn't have a harem tag......shit might be good! Well I used that comparison mainly because of very clear-cut anti-war imagery and parallels to nuclear weaponry and stuff. As in both works are making very similar point. Casshern Sins could also work as an example I guess due to focus on the idea of living and death as well as meaning behind both in a post-human world. |

I don't think there's any clear cut anti war imagery in Sukasuka. I mean there was a war 500 years ago but that's not what caused the end of humanity since it pretty much finished one year prior to the tragedy, and the races that survived are currently at peace since humanity has declined (I meant, is extinct, couldn't avoid that one~ :p ). The threat on the ground hardly count as war, since the ground side doesn't acknowledge this as a war in any way. |

The very core of the story is the beings that are treated as basically inanimate objects or expendable weapons and the MC having the opposite position to that - Someone who has a very specific viewpoint of valuing the idea of life because of being the last of his kind. At least that to me is a clear cut imagery of driving down home of how wars dehumanize people and are pretty much waste of life with every day costing lives no matter who wins or loses. A person, A weapon, A nuke - its all the same thing when it comes to war. And such dehumanization is what makes it extremely easy to start wars and for them to prolong themselves. Soldiers are just tools who die in millions, Nukes are just means to an end despite obliterating millions of lives and leaving scars upon planet, etc. |

It's due to their peculiarity that they are not recognised as a living sentient race, and nothing else. If anything, it's more on the line of stories reflecting on what is the definition of life, along the line of AI and sentient mechanical entities, that kind of subject; rather than how war makes peoples lose sight on the value of life itself.
