| What a braindead use of government resources, if they (governments in general, not just Japan) wanted to do something useful they should put restrictions on how digital goods can be sold, such as not allowing the terms "buy" or "purchase" for products that the end user will ultimately have no tangible control over (usually because it cannot be downloaded and instead only streamed from the cloud, or it has DRM) I imagine this would actually lead to increased sales if it urges companies to fuck consumers over less. |

| Even if the government cracks down more efficiently, pirates will always find ways to circumvent these systems. Yeah, It's likely to just push piracy to more obscure platforms or methods, I guess. |
| AI is probably going to cost them a lot, and they will never get their "lost profits", because the majority of the pirates would never be paying customers to begin with, if not outright hurt their profits, because they are shutting down a massive free advertisement for their IP. |

Ive already seen in live-action Japanese dramas that lawyers want to get rid of the content from torrent first because all the pirates sites actually download upload the content there. | This just looks like government bureaucrats jumping on the AI bandwagon. They have a problem they have no idea how to fix, so they think just shoehorning in the latest trendy tech will help fix it. Same thing happened with blockchain, when companies were trumpeting how they were implementing blockchain into their business when they barely had any use for the tech. An agency official says it takes time and money to find piracy websites with human eyes. And running an AI system won't? OK, it's more likely that they think it will cost less, but why do they think that? I can't imagine AI being cheaper than hiring some minimum-wage workers to pretend to be a pirate online and ask around reddit or even MAL. Besides, I don't think AI is supposed to help with the process of actually shutting them down, a process that also takes time and money. How much money are they saving exactly purely to find them? |

| I live in a small country where only limited titles are sold on discs, or up there on streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+. So majority of times I had to go to fansubs or third party anime sites to watch these. Sometimes torrents for better quality. Official releases either lack lyrics translations, or lack physical releases over here, and not that many anime are up there on official streaming sites or locked for certain regions. Only if there are more availability of anime shows over here and not overpriced, then I would love go down this route. But sadly, many shows I watch are niche, so the chance of seeing these being released over here is literally 0%. Even popular shows only have certain seasons being released here. Order online can sometimes be dodgy quality-wise, or not even deliver to my region. So it's the industry themselves that made this harder for themselves by not "spreading the word" to a long distance. There are more mangas over here than anime on discs tbh. |

| For alot of people, specially countries that are more... Lets say "backwards" in Anime watching, good and services, piracy is the only way for them to watch any show. Streaming services dont present half of anime catholgs out there. And there is no chance of buying Blue Rays from Japan. At the same time, i get why Japan wants to target this, but like i said, piracy made alot of Anime fans. People should just stop talk about famous sites, if you get it, stop spreading. I have even seen on IG some time ago a AMV about a piracy site, lmao. |
