| @SuperAdventure I think the problem is that Japan's primary economic powerhouse - its army of a million elderly crossing guards and parking attendants - just isn't tech-savvy enough to handle the internet. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up hiring some real people to write angry letters to the pirates afterward. On typewriters, of course. Needless to say, such an ambitious, innovative and socially important project will require more taxes from the youth. Oh, I love Japan so much... |

| What a braindead use of government resources, if they (governments in general, not just Japan) wanted to do something useful they should put restrictions on how digital goods can be sold, such as not allowing the terms "buy" or "purchase" for products that the end user will ultimately have no tangible control over (usually because it cannot be downloaded and instead only streamed from the cloud, or it has DRM) I imagine this would actually lead to increased sales if it urges companies to fuck consumers over less. |

Thanks to MAL, I was under the impression that real fans pirated and only tourists paid for their anime. But this seems to make me think that anime corporations value paying fans over pirates. Have I been deceived?!?! |

| AI is probably going to cost them a lot, and they will never get their "lost profits", because the majority of the pirates would never be paying customers to begin with, if not outright hurt their profits, because they are shutting down a massive free advertisement for their IP. |
