In my opinion, nothing comes close to No Game No Life, and it's unfortunate that the anime only covers the introductory arc because there's so much incredible shit that anime-onlies are missing out on.

Re:Zero is also peak, and while I haven't read the light novels or web novels, if it somehow continues to get better in season 3, it could potentially become my favorite. Even if it doesn't, season 2 was a masterpiece imo.

Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero are my personal favorites. I just can't decide between these two.
Ascendence of Bookworm is my personal 2nd. It will be even better once WIT adapts it.
Honorable mention for I'm Standing on a Million Lives. Totally underrated and underappreciated. People write it off as "another, generic isekai trash", which is not.

My top 10 favorites of all time.
1.By the grace of the gods. This one is a top 1 anime of all time together with Slayers.
2.In the Land of Leadale
3.Skeleton Knight in Another World
4.Black Summoner
5.Zero no tsukaima.
6.Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
7.Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon
8.Farming Life in Another World
9.Kuma kuma kuma bear
10.I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level

Yes these are top 10 I love allot for the one simple reason for me they are healing me when ever im down the slump. What makes me sad is knowing that majority of them will never see a season 2 and if they do it will never see a seasons 3. That in it self is depressing as frack.

Story:
1. Re:zero
2. Mushoku Tensei
3. Zero no Tsukaima

More fun:
1. NGNL
2. Konosuba
3. Ixion Saga DT

I separated it a bit here. Some might contain more story elements (NGNL obviously feels like it has some story to it, even though we only got the beginning and zero no tsukaima has quite a bit of comedy in it but is still a complete story) but yeah it was hard to really put some of these anime against each other, like comparing Konosuba to Re:zero in a way that makes sense feels impossible. I really like all of these anime though.

I'm surprised That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime didn't even make it on this list, that or Reincarnated as a Sword is my pick for modern Isekai

but for all isekai I'd go with Now and Then, Here and There

Surprised that neither Digimon or Magic Knight Rayearth aren't options. The latter of these two is what I would choose were it an option. It might seem like a genre soup, but it is a quite enjoyable piece of media.

Bro that's such a sad list, is there any Japanese law that forces isekai to be horrible?
If you're a fanboy, please don't waste my time.

Watch more movies, please.

Perhaps, this is hell.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is there; Tensura (6th option)

@Fleeting_Dream Hmm... I didn't even realize that was what that was referring to, seeing as it's the name of the spin off, not the main series, oops.

@jhzs0029 It means another world

In sonny boy they go to another world... multiple times at that

in death parade everyone goes to a place between life and death, which is the setting of the show.

In fullmetal alchemist 2003..... Its a spoiler.

My favorite isekai series would be: Konosuba, Isekai Ojisan, Cautious Hero, Zero no Tsukaima, Demon Lord Retry!, Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!, The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar, Outbreak Company.

Difficult to pick just one, it depends on my mood :)

@Kenzolo-folk
Because they actually take time to explore the other world, for me and others the problem is the MC, while for others the MC is what make the show great.!

Mushoku Tensei would be the best for me with a better MC and having more adventure of slice of life. But that is what makes it attractive for others

SUDDENLY TRANSPORTED to another world. That's the key difference otherwise Death Note is an isekai as well with its Shinigami Realm.

how can mushoku be the best when it has mediocre world building, ugly character design, no plot, no interesting characters, no cool developments, no twists, boring background art. I swear, you people are either trying to be funny or you just didn't watch any isekai.
Just be sincere, you just like it because loodie has infinite mana for no reason and an army of moe blob waifus, stuff that most isekai have but compared to mushoku, most isekai have better waifus.
