Like for real... 4 out of the 5 seasonal shows that I watched this season is just because I’ve heard it from my fellow FG regulars. I just get on the bandwagon and such, except if it’s a sequel of an anime I watched like Mushoku Tensei.

Soooo for me, I don’t pick... I just get on the bandwagon and watch, without knowing if it would be shit or not. And if it’s a sequel to an anime I watched, I will watch it no matter what.

I hope no one I know irl sees my secret account~

Anyways, do I look cute in this outfit?~

I look at the seasonal listings, and see what's interesting. When something is a slice-of-life (or not plot-driven at any rate) that I'd like to watch week after week, I decide to watch it this way, as a seasonal (and this is the bulk of my seasonal watching too). And sometimes there are shows that I plotwise find so interesting that even though they are plot-driven and not slice-of-life, I decide to watch them right then as they air after all (this was the case with e.g. Moriarty the Patriot).
Before I joined anime sites, I looked at the front page of my streaming site of choice and started whatever seemed interesting from the poster (and this was a surprisingly sound method, as I encountered less sucky stuff than you'd think).

I usually end up watching majority of the seasonals (new ones) so there's not really a way I am picking them. I have some tips though - either I heard about them in youtube videos or I know manga/LNs. I watch all of the sequels, no matter how shitty previous seasons were. I usually watch all shorts too because they are easy to follow. Other shows... I don't watch stuff like heavy mecha or idol shows (with exceptions). For the rest I am not certain about... I just read forums and decide whether it's worthy or not.

Literally just whatever looks good. Seeing what anime youtubers are interested in for the season also helps a bit too. Then I just go through the seasonals list and just add whatever looks even mildly interesting to watch. Usually avoid all the typical isekai titles unless it's called mushoku tensei.

First week is just watching the first episode of all the seasonals I've chosen, and then by the 2nd or 3rd episodes of each I'll probably have decided whether or not to continue or drop them.

This Fall 2021 has been pretty good, only dropped like 3 or 4 I think, and am still watching like 12. Although some of them have become close to shit- but they're almost done airing so might as well finish them.

Anyway, here's what I plan to watch for winter 2022:

Attack on titan (duh)
Demon slayer (duh)

Any show which seems interesting to me or a good studio is behind it
otherwise, I usually end up watching sequel seasons of shows I liked

when it comes to seasonals, watch what interests you, and try not to focus too much on public reviews and opinions. some shows might be bad in others eyes, but just watch what u feel like watching

Minimum of 10 seasonal shows. Must watch all sequels/spinoffs of prior shows I've watched. At least 5 must be new adaptations of a franchise that hasn't been adapted before.

Nowadays I mainly go off of synopsis when earlier I just went in blind.

I normally follow the 4 rules I have which I think are the ones anyone should follow.

1. Plot - Need to be interesting, otherwise it could waste your time.
2. Genre - Check for the genre you enjoy
3. Sequels - Unless the earlier season was bad then skip that
4. Fandom - Check if the fanatics are just crazy or is this something that can be good.

I only have like 4 planned for Winter 2022:
KnY S2 (of course), Takagi-san 3 (fine series), Vanitas P2 (good show, would recommend to some), and yeah Bisque Doll cuz my fellow regulars talked bout it

Anyways I’m not gonna get my hand on AoT rn...

I see poster, read the synopsis and watch the trailer then if I find it interesting put it on my schedule of seasonals I will follow every week. For each season I choose 4 anime to watch and the rest on Plan to Watch list to check later.

I used the ANN season preview guides in Summer and Fall, not necessarily going by their ratings but by how they described the show.

I will probably not start following the seasonals until mid-January, because I like to watch the first couple episodes in a batch to get a feel. I feel like one episode is often not enough to tell if something's gonna be good, but by 2 or 3 you kind of know, barring a trainwreck ending situation.

looking right now there's nothing I'm certain to watch. provisionally I have my eye on Slow Loop, Sono Bisque Doll, Love of Kill, and Requiem of the Rose King. probably will at least watch the first episode of both of the genderbending isekai (seriously there's two of them in the same season) out of morbid curiosity. the police girl anime looks good, but ACAB.

Typically I just follow the News section to catch them as they're announced, then see if the show sounds interesting based on the Synopsis, Staff, KV and PV, in that order. Then before each season starts I scroll through the whole thing and do the same set of checks to make sure I haven't missed anything.

What I also do, and recommended everyone else to, is sort the seasonals by title rather than number of users. That way I don't have to trudge through 3 or 4 rows of hyped junk to get to the actually decent shows.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

"Like for real..."

I check the premise and the poster (it can contain some important information - character design, atmosphere). If I like the idea I check its first episode.
Also I can check a show if there are some interesting comments about it and it's not from a genre I avoid (sport for example).

I look at the posters, read the titles.
if any of those sound interesting I read the description.
if it's something I'm familiar with, I'll pick it up.
if it's something I'm interested in, I'll pick it up.
I end up with 5 or 10 shows like this usually.
after this, I just hang on imageboards, if they post something fun or a cool webm, it goes onto the watch list.
if it's censored, I wait for the bluray.

I'll start with the highest rated. They're worth trying to see if they deserve the praise, unless it's something obviously bad like Tokyo Revengers.

Then I'll watch any anime with an interesting premise, regardless of their score. I might also check out something recommended here on AD. A positive score progression is usually a good sign here (e.g. Odd Taxi 7.2 -> 8.7, Kageki Shoujo!! 6.9 -> 7.8), but it's not always required for an anime to be good.

Avoid Isekai and you only have about 5 Anime to choose from each season.

Exactly what I do lol. Skip all the isekai and choose from the remaining. I try to watch as many first episodes as I can and start dropping after that. I place emphasis on genres I like it those that are really strong visually (usually from trailers or staff list) . Sometime a synopsis or key visual will catch my eye too.

Well, let's see, out of the next season, the reason why I'm picking up each show I'm going to be watching:

Dress-Up Darling: Romcome published in a Seinen magazine.
Sabikui Bisco: very good PV that makes it look like an action shounen, despite actually being a Light Novel adaptation.
Dolls' Frontline: based on a mobile game with female character with nice char design, tho I'm mostly hoping 416 get heavely featured.
Hakozume: Madhouse

Damn, listing these made me realize I'm mostly watching sequels next season.

For me its normally how talked about is the original work (if it has), checking out pvs (can tell a lot about the visual quality/sound of the show, seeing if the studiio is known/good, and if it doesn't stand out prior to an episode airing I'll look how talked about a show is after a couple episodes.
