THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Kukuru is such a caring person, not taking care of marine life like penguins but also helping a mother on maternal leave. Glad to see the their teacher and their baby healthy in the hospital.

The underwater scene was breathtaking similar to the previous two episodes imo. I thought this episode was heartwarming.

Inochi wa, umi kara // Life is from the sea

It's the to loli Kukuru, it was an first time with a cute penguin, although Kukuru's background is still unclear. Actually I wanted to add this to the droplist but this makes me boring. The explanation of the aquarium is so hard to understand, especially about how long penguins can live, tumor disease, as well as some explanations about penguins is very hard to understand and this is so hard science to digest. Is this an educational anime or yuri, I don't know. I prefer Nakamura and Miyazawa moments, really than having to lead being Yuri route.

Ask the vet for advice, Takeshita is on leave jobs due to pregnancy. I don't know if the splintering of the amniotic fluid is a sign of the imminent birth of a baby, which is clearly a tense situation. is a taxi or car has arrived, it is the girl in episode 1. The pregnant woman was immediately referred for treatment for the birth of the baby. The baby was okay and yeah, this show makes me boring. Idfc with pregnancy jokes.

Honestly really enjoying the art of this one, misaki seems like an absolute dunderhead with how deadset she is on the aquarium bless her lol.

I tend to enjoy this type of anime, where some fairly outside event makes the characters change slightly for the better, like how Fuuka realised how mother's are strong and the such really was nice, and understanding how her own mother would have felt. Like that character growth is a tad more realistic that some other animes and I quite enjoy that tbh.

Is it just me or whenever I hear kukuru, I remember mayuri from steins gate saying tuturu lmao

The start of a new life, it was nice to see everyone working hard to make sure the doctor was alright.
And the the work they did payed it was nice to see the doctor and her child together.
Fuuka staying with her was nice.

Anyway Kukuru past is becoming clear and it looks like she had a fare share of hardships as well hopefully she succeeds with the aquarium despite everything against her.
And Fuuka made friends with the penguin.

Damn, Kukuru really is facing a lot of pressure. Kukuru seems to be giving a lot of effort but, it's clear that some people really don't believe in her, unfortunately. I'm honestly learning a lot of new information about the process of running an Aquarium. Thankfully, With a few bumps on the road, Dr. Takeshita gave birth to her child safely.

The grandpa might be a chill guy, but he says what needs to be said.

And well, I was expecting a lot from this show yet not to see a birth episode. It does considering how this event tied into the mom subplot. I quite liked the dream sequence and Takeshita holding her son in her arms. She got some crazy work ethic to pull up even during her maternity leave(even tho Kuku had a hand in this too)

The background art in this show is gorgeous. Kukuru has a lot of pressure on her, fuuka is the perfect person to be able to help.

The fact Kukuru’s mom died in childbirth had to be weighing on her heavily when Takeshita’s water broke. That’s really tragic.

The kids standing around debating who was gonna ride in the taxi with Takeshita bugged me lmao. Luckily she got to the maternity centre in time and delivered a healthy baby. PA works look like they’re back in form finally

New character introduced and she's voiced by HanaKana and she even has the same hairstyle as HanaKana. The whole giving birth part was beautifully done, it was heartwarming.

Thou that last part was quite shocking. There's "two mother and child" handbook at Kukuru's place and the local government gives only one when someone's pregnant. This most likely means Kukuru's mother was pregnant when she died, damn.

Thats rough for kukuru that she loses her parents so early tbh. Fuuka is on a good way tahts nice and kai work now there also, so kuuya is not alone anymore xD.

Good that the birth went smoothly. She has a similar dream as fuuka, I was surprised.

I think background of Kukuru's parents that passed away become one of interesting drama that can lead story in upcoming episode.

More and more convinced that never believe PA Works will present this anime with a mediocre Slice-of-Life genre... XD

This episode reminds me not to say sorry too much and instead replace sorry with thanks and gratitude. I mean when the other person said they don't mind but you keep repeating the word sorry, it's kinda getting on my nerve.

So Kukuru's interest in sea life began when she was little huh. Hmm its a difficult choice i guess deciding whether schools more important or your family business. After all Kukuru's going to inherit the business in the future after all so her paths all set. Fuuka looks like she's settled in working at the aquarium. In a way Kukuru's struggles do mirror Fuuka's. Looks like Karin's fighting her own war to help Kukuru as well. It was unwise for Takeshita sensei to come when she was pregnant. The magic of the aquarium sure picked an excellent time to come and help out though. Im glad that in the end both baby and mother were safe. Overall an interesting ep that balanced out some excellent expansion on Kukuru and Fuuka while adding some excitement in the form of the Takeshita sensei's close mishap.

It's interesting to see Kukuru's backstory and her sincere attachment to Gama Gama Aquarium since young, though life with Fuuka has more or less settled in together with ease. Though the rumours with Gama Gama Aquarium closing down is becoming stronger by the minute, and the destitute situation of the aquarium is seen on the young workers' faces.

Adding Kai to the already strained aquarium workforce, and Fuuka faces her nemesis again: penguins, and be more confident in adjusting to differences and such. To ask the actual director that is Takeshita-sensei for help to treat a penguin's bumblefoot while on maternal leave, it's obscenely bad for the situation alone, and having to give birth right in the aquarium is unsightly for tourists, so escorting her out is the only way while Kukuru takes care of the bumblefoot penguin.

The tourist OL Karin also has dibs on the aquarium. and like Kukuru, is fighting to keep the aquarium alive since it has their memories enclosed.

I love it whenever the underwater segments come and float by with tangibleness, that gives the reassurance that everything is fine. A good birth delivery on that, while still capturing character dynamics.

I would like to be a First Penguin for sure. For now, this journey is a long one, so I'm ready to buck this sea aquarium of a ride.

bruh are they gonna play that ocean immersion scene anytime someone is feeling troubled now lmao. Or maybe that crazy haired kid is gonna turn this into a supernatural type series later on. I feel (or at least I hope) like he's gonna become important in some way

but overall a better ep than the previous mainly because there wasn't any absurd drama this time around lol. That scene where the car arrived though I actually feel is a good example of where great directing differs from good directing (with this show doing the latter)

Looks like soon-to-be-rejected childhood friend has also joined the party now. Or maybe it's shoehorned-love-interest-at-the-end childhood friend idk

The story slowly progresses and we now get more insight into Kukuru's background. Her mother seem to been pregnant, when she died. It get more an more serious now. On the other hand Fuuka told her mother finally, where she is. I think this will lead to more problems as her family will most surely not allow it. Just for drama reasons.
Furthermore I think, Choko will die.

And more and more romance options are given. Beside the yure option Fuuka x Kukuru exists Fuuka x Kai (I saw this option in the episode earlier, when Kai offered her help as he knew, that Fuuka works for the aquarium) and Kukuru x Kuuya would fit too. But that are all wild guesses.

This is a very raw translation, but Kuuya's profile on the official website suggests that he has some sort of trauma towards the girls. So, I think he'll get some pairing anyway.

Aquatope's narrative isn't the most engaging thing in the world right now and that's perfectly fine for the time being. This Kukuru-focused episode lets us some insight into how her mentality is, in terms of how she approaches things like dealing with a penguin's foot infection to helping a fellow adult staff member with labor. From what I can see, she seems to try to take up too much of the tasks without asking for additional support, hence why her grandpa lightly scolded her afterwards. I can see her and Fuuka's growth intertwining with each other as the story goes along and complementing one another, regardless of whatever overlying plot the series does decide to take.
Again, careful optimism here and not trying to expect too much here yet.

Dude, I'm weak as all hell to mom drama – and I can already see there'll be plenty of mom drama in the future of the series. Damn you, japanese.

So, I guess both Fuuka and Kukuru will learn small life lessons each episode and this will have a big coming of age lesson overarching it all. I can't help comparing this to Hanasaku Iroha each time an episode drops.

"Let me put in a scene in which this childhood friend tells the audience the new friend about a characters backstory in one go and very organically. Everyone loves those!"

Not sure why Kukuru got the short end of the stick for calling the vet over if it was the vet who agreed to come.

I'm getting so many love triangle flags these first episodes, it's insane.

Fuuka is still the MVP of the series to me. She's probably my only reason to keep on watching.

No, this story is just generally just baseline, and somewhat stupid. It only has its visuals to thank, which is somewhat enough for me to stay and watch this. This anime having yuri would probably be a massive cop-out and it'd be funny if executed horribly too.

I don't know, yuri usually sells content pretty well these days, even if the show itself was pretty weak. At least for the western viewer. But outside of the shipping conversation, after Irozuku and Fairy Gone, I try not to overestimate my hopes for PAWORKS too early.

I should have done the same, but this was a dry season so I thought this would work out. It didn't I guess (so far). On that note with yuri do you know if AdaShima did well btw? I quite liked it even if it was generic.

It was nice to see more insight into Kukuru's past and how she got her interest into the aquarium, but what has my interest more is her deceased parents, who died when she was pretty young. It also showed a scene where Kukuru discovers two maternity books. Maybe her mother was pregnant again before she and her husband died, but that's nothing more than a guess as of now. Hopefully we'll get more insight into this later on in the series.

Kukuru did well in this episode. Her grandfather's scolding words of her trying to do too much is justified, but you can't deny how well she was able to help the pregnant doctor when her waters broke, since even coming out to check on the penguin's health while past your due date was a big gamble to take in the first place. Overall, everyone involved did well to get her from the aquarium to the maternity house via some ambitious shortcuts.

One scene I liked a lot was when the doctor was dreaming where she was underwater with the fish and her soon-to-be-born son greeted her. It was wholesome and that put a smile on my face. =)

The ED song from Mia REGINA is probably my favourite ED song for the whole season so far. It's a big contrast to their OP song from Appare-Ranman (which was a excellent banger!), but this really hits that emotional and powerful tone that perfectly matches the ED visuals.

Not Kukuru's greatest moment to call in her over-due Sensei, but honestly situation was handled very maturely afterwards from both Kukuru and Fuuka as well. Grandpa's scolding was rightfully deserved. One of many lessons for Kukuru still to learn.

I loved the "supernatural" element again in this episode, it's beautiful as last time and I am really curious about what it truly means, since both Fuuka and Sensei experienced it and Kukuru also mentioned it to Fuuka that "she saw it".

Another solid episode.

I don't know how much relevance this episode will have on the overall story, but I don't mind these one-off episodes, as long as they are executed well like this one. Kana Hanazawa sounded good and the scene of her character meeting her baby in the sea was beautiful.

That was a pretty contrived scenario to get the pregnant woman to have that vison with her child. All the taxis took a break in the middle of the day? Every one of them? I get it isn’t a big city, but come on, it’s a tourist town. There’s no way that they make all the taxi drivers take a break at the same time.

This anime feels like a slightly better Jun Maeda project (script Maeda). Unfortunately, that isn’t very high praise.
