Anime targeted to specifically young audiences (as opposed to Shonen, Shojou, Seinen, or Josei). You can name obscure or popular ones. Childish or mature. Why do you like it?

I watched Tanooshi Muumin Ikka (or Moomin as it's called in the west) as a kid, I think it's pretty good (or thought so as a kid at least).

Moomin has a pretty good mix of everything, great characters and a varied story where some episodes are more like some form of slice of life show, others are more adventure oriented etc. It's probably mostly because of nostalgia that I like it, but it still worth looking into.

Some kodomo anime, not all, can be watched by adults with some level of pleasure.
Perhaps the most famous of them all is https://myanimelist.net/anime/2471/Doraemon_1979
There are many clones of Doraemon like
https://myanimelist.net/anime/4936/Ninja_Hattori-kun and
https://myanimelist.net/anime/6509/Kiteretsu_Daihyakka
My father used to watch these before going to work.
One I liked for being childish but with a more perky layer is https://myanimelist.net/anime/5983/Higepiyo
My favorite though is https://myanimelist.net/anime/5618/Dokonjou_Gaeru
I watched it in tv many aeons ago. Hiroshi and Piki. The rivalry of Ume and Minami for the heart of Yoshiko sensei.
I could talk about this anime for hours but sadly I can't find it anywhere.

@AstralSky Very nice list, welcome to MAL if you're new here :)

Here's my "hidden gem" top movies with MAL's "Kids" tag, yet a story enjoyable by adults as well. I.e. for children but not childish. Many Ghibli movies will work too, of course, but they don't have a kids tag on MAL.

Chi's Sweet Home is actually Seinen not Kodomo.
It has the Kids tag on MAL, and no Seinen tag. I've seen both seasons, definitely well suited for kids. That's the trick anyway, you can find good material for children under both anidb's kodomo AND mina tag. Every Pixar movie is so successful because it's mina, not kodomo - and the kids don't get the adult layer and still love it ...

The manga was released in a Seinen magazine (the same as Vagabound). So yes, Chi's Sweet Home is a Seinen.

MAL itself is flawed. MAL only lists the other seasons of Chi's Sweet Home as "kids". Season one is just like Slice of Life and comedy.

And another: Kodomo is somewhat "nonsense" as literally most children's manga is released in Shounen, Seinen and Shoujo magazines. There isn't (as far as I know) a Kodomo-only magazine.

Doraemon is a Shounen, but it is childish. Chibi Maruko-cha is a childish and is a Shoujo.

Even though Kodomo is for specifying children's works, this demography doesn't exist in manga.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/36982/Micchiri_Neko (very cute, can cure depression)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/35777/Rilakkuma_to_Kaoru-san (great SoL)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/3704/Zenryoku_Usagi (work themed but unlike Rilakkuma it has a focus on comedy)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/23721/Carino_Coni (funny, no dialogue)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/32956/Aware_Meisaku-kun (not the greatest thing but sometimes can be very funny)

Sorry didn't read this at first but it's very unlikely that for example CoroCoro Comic magazine isn't a "kodomo" magazine and not targeted at kids. Also Ciao magazine is targeted at very young females. I'm not 100% sure if these 2 are "kodomo-only" magazines but Shogakukan Manga Awards always have the "Best Children's Manga"'s award and picks manga from these 2 magazines so imo they're targeted to children (you can see previous years awards at the bottom of page linked "Last year's winners included ..." click on included)
**Edit: This is actually a better link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shogakukan_Manga_Award
There are also manga from Ribon Magazine too that won best children's manga. Also these 5: Shougaku Ninensei, Shougaku Sannensei, Shougaku Yonensei and Shougaku Gonensei (magazine names literally meaning 2,3,4,5 elementary students) and other magazines too like Kinnikuman's there lol

Saw this topic is still around @AstralSky RIP Keroro Gunsou not mentioned once and it's not on your chart either

Thanks for the informative research, appreciated. I personally don't read manga. MAL uses manga demographic tags (only) which is co-related to anime tagsl but very limited. Originals, movies, book based etc. anime lack them on MAL. Anidb assigns their own demographic tags unrelated and not limited to manga based anime.I personally prefer that approach over MAL's.

Yes, there's a lot of original anime with demographics listed, and that doesn't make sense, as the originals don't come from even a magazine.
Exemple: NG Knight Ramune & 40

In the same way that there is an original anime listed with demographics, there is an adapted manga anime with no demographics listed, or listed wrongly. MAL should pay more attention to these things. For example: Stand By Me Doraemon is a Shounen, but Stand By Me Doraemon 2 is tagged Seinen... haha
Perrine Monogatari adapts a book from 1893, and it's not even a Japanese book, but the anime is listed as Shoujo (this being valid only for anime adapted from manga).

That's a nice list, although some of those anime don't have a full English translation. "Kasumin," "Rilu Rilu Fairilu" and "Minky Momo" have never been fully translated into English.

Also, "Akazukin Chacha" and "Nurse Angel Ririka SOS" should be added to that bingo board, as they're among the best anime ever made.

Yeah, a bunch of stuff on there technically isn't fully subbed in English, to which I've had to finish some raw. There's more that I could add, but it seems that 7x7 is the limit on that site.

Edit: @Edocchi I hope so too.

I don't think that I could ever watch anime raw, as I wouldn't be able to understand what was going on, and I'd have to rely on the visuals, which isn't fun at all.
