THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
With this, I have finished the tournement saga. So far, this is good but slightly less good than the manga which I have read until this point in the anime. Most of the added scenes to the anime are not so good. But there's lots of good moments in the anime. And I hope the next part is just as good or even better.

Heh I had a feeling Master Roshi would end up spending all his money on dinner :P

I like that they're not really professional and have some fun with the tournament (not counting right away when someone's down, asking questions during the fight, etc.), but that fight was too long for me. It should have ended after Goku turned ape.

Hahahahaha, Roshi-sama blew the moon, that made me lol :D

Anyways, this fight really took too long and it worn me out even if I was just watching it - it really had to end at the point where Goku became an ape. In any case I'm happy that Roshi-sama won, 'cause I didn't want for Goku to take the title. And Roshi-sama was right about the part, that the two guys mustn't have won for a reason.

Another Pyrrhic victory, just like with Krillin cheated and won and got food poisoning. Roshi won but all of his prize money went to pay for Goku's food.

That was a great, fast-paced tournament arc. I'm glad Roshi triumphed in the end and there was a good mix of comedy and action.

Wow I didn't even think of that lol that poor rabbit dude R.I.P.

Good ep Roshi really is a powerhouse, I think he deserved to win even if he did kinda use a cheap tactic because he technically did have Goku beat till he turned into an ape. I am curious if he would have actually been able to kill Goku in great ape form with that full power Kamehameha, if so Roshi is a beast.

Yeah, it was Piccolo when Gohan transformed. Anyway, a good end to the tournament saga. This is where most of my knowledge of the original Dragon Ball ends so it should be good going into the rest of the series with a fresh mind. Next up, Red Ribbon saga.

This was a good way to wrap up the tournament. That song was pretty awesome, too... I'm surprised they didn't either keep it or re-create it in English for the Funimation dub. It's so catchy!

The fights up until the end were very fast and based around a joke making them not the greatest as fights, but the training all the way up to the end of this arc was still great. I think I liked the first arc better because they were traveling around so much and seeing so many new things and I preferred the development and dynamic of the first cast to this one's(Roshi, Kururin, Lunch), but the training segment was one of the best I've seen in anime, and the tournament was full of people who felt like people, trying to win the tournament themselves. The fist fight between Goku and Roshi at the end was really awesome to look at. So yeah, overall not as good as the first arc, but still very good!

Damn, Master Roshi blew away the moon by only utilizing his body's energy to the max. Just how much of a powerhouse is he? Wow, he truly deserves this victory. Technically, he could have achieved victory multiple times throughout the match if it wasn't for Bulma directly interfering with the hypnotism, Goku turning into a giant, monstrous ape, or the referee being too stunned to count. Now that I see it, Master Roshi did a great job overcoming these inconveniences. He has my respect. And congrats for Goku too! The little guy was strong and tenacious. He gave Master Roshi the time of his life. He did a marvelous job against his master and in the tournament as a whole. That was the best fight in the tournament for me, no doubt about it.

"I should start recording my speeches and sell them."
Master Roshi, I adore you. And does that mean that rabbit boss fella and his two goons got annihilated alongside the moon? Apparently, from what I read, they're floating in space according to Akira Toriyama, they're still alive, but I wonder how will they survive in space, stranded all alone like that. And what will become of the world now that the moon is no more? No doubt, it has to cause some disconcert amongst the inhabitants of Earth.

Now that the amazing tournament saga is done and over, I am looking forward to the next arc.

Simple answer: God. Don't you remember what Goku answers to people asking him about what happened to his tail a few years later?

Even the ending was amazing like the starting of this match. This final worth it.

It was a lucky win for him sure. When Goku asked him for another fight master Roshis' face was watchable, haha!!! He was unable beat him in this stage think about the future man. But he was happy with that prize money.

However, Goku still wins because all the prize he just ate, haha(I can't stop my laugh, hahahaha)

Wow, Roshi must really love his disciples. Not only did he dress up to teach them a lesson, he blew away the whole moon for Goku… 😅

This show is amazing. Even though the fights were great this arc, I think I liked it even more seeing then sitting and eating together as a family at the end of it.

The long battle finally reaches its conclusion on this episode! For an old animation, this fight can feel pretty intense! Personally, I found this conclusion rather satisfying, but I can understand if you don't and you wanted it to end perfectly.

How can Jackie Chun unleash enough energy to stop Goku in great ape form? To answer is to aim the Kamehameha at the moon, not Goku. Such an over-top way to resolve things. Both of them show resilience pulling off rapid moves after being depleted, with Jackie Chun sticking his foot into the platform to be inside the ring. With Jackie Chun's victory, Master Roshi did what he said out to do, but only barely; to teach his students Goku and Krilin that there are bigger fish in the sea.
Unfortunately, for the recently declared number one under heaven ends up spending, 94% of the prize money is spent on Goku's meal.
