| Well, damn those top 4 sure are something, I'm just really surprised but happy to see a unique series to the idol genre Zombieland Saga did great, while seeing the Anime adaption of Yagate Kimi Ni Naru (even tho the anime kinda left off at a place where I wish it would have gone past but hopefully it will do good enough in sales to have a 2nd season in the future) do well enough to reach the top 5, Sora Yori was truly a great original so I can see why it has first place. Really pleased with Japan's choices this year, may have a feeling MAL's best Anime of 2018 will disappoint me but eh. |

Yep, but it doesn't make any sense because it was still airing in 2018 so it wasn't a valid option for the top anime of 2017 and therefore should be for 2018. Otherwise every anime that keeps airing into a new year would be excluded from all the yearly rankings. Oh, so that explains why TenSura is not in this top. Then I don't know. Sangatsu is popular, but I guess not that much on the specific audience that votes in these websites. |

| Sangatsu 2 is probably that low because people consider it a 2017 anime, so I guess that's fine. If you exclude Griedman, is actually a respectable top 10. The real AOTY have won, Shingeki is there (Even though is too low, but since this season was desapointing I'm not that mad) and most important, BNH is not there! (I mean, I enjoyed a lot the first arc, that's why I gave it an 8, but the second arc was just boring as hell) |

| High Score Girl ranked that high? That anime is terrible, it did have some nods to things like the PC Engine but it really didn't save the show. Jashin-Chan Dropkick being on the list is great, that needs a second season. Also Idol Time Pripara is a 2017 anime not 2018 and I'm surprised it's on the list over Aikatsu Friends. |

| so basically the first 11/12 spots are just all the somewhat decent cute girl shows this year and then you get a handful of the 'other' shows. Tho I think ~40 of those 50 shows are simply shows with mainly cute girl casts and/or waifu appeal. Very balanced taste japan, I have to hand it to them. Probably still better than the mainstream list from the western fandom, but obviously too biased towards popular mainstream shows to really take it very seriously in terms of indicating actual quality. |

| Sora yori is at the top, huh? I dunno... I can accept that it's a very good anime, but for me, it's a drama show pretending to be a CGDCT which actually is neither. Drama and emotional insert song at 'every' episode felt somewhat forced but maybe it's just me. I'm happy with rank 2nd to 8th, with exception of 4th and 5th which I haven't watch yet. Steins;Gate 0 (My AotY) is 24th. Well, considering it's kind of a sequel, I can accept this. Neither Juliet nor Beelzebub-jou made it to the top 50. I thought they will be pretty high up since Japan love their cute shows but looks like cute romance is another question. Grand Blue didn't make it either? Strange... I thought it was a worthy rival for Asobi. Well, at least Japan is not riding the mainstream train considering BnHA and Slime are nowhere to be found. That's a plus. |

| Zombieland, Asobi Asobase, Hinamatsuri and Bunny Girl making it into the top 10 makes me happy, seeing Revue, Comic Girls and Saiki S2 in the list is neat too but I wish they were higher. No Aikatsu or Precure? I see Pripara there but not those, that makes me sad if they really were options. Man, Winter 2018 sure was a weird season to me, I loved a lot of stuff from that one but people have so, so much love towards SoraYori, Yuru Camp and Violet Evergarden and I find all three to be overrated af, the first was still pretty decent and if it had better drama execution it could have been nice (same issue but thankfully not as bad as with Love Live... and people love that one too, I guess it works for them), but the other two were big snorefests. |

I should really watch it soon. Bunny Girl was meh. I thought it was only popular in the West from what I've heard, but looks like I was wrong. |
