The writing of these movies lacked a lot compared to the tv series...they were all disappointments compared to the tv series sure, but the last 4 were at least decent as movies and not looking at it comparatively. That said, this last movie imo, was complete crap as a movie apart of a series and compared to the original series. Cheesy geass abilities with cheesy moments, dull storyline that started out interesting.

Others that have commented already think differently, but I have to agree, as far as a "better" understanding of the geass world, this series adds absolutely nothing new or innovative to the world created by the tv series. Could have done without watching.

Had some good moments but it had a ton of weird moments. I honestly had trouble remembering the plot line since I've watched the movies so far apart from each other.

Im kinda left speechless since they ended the series with them living as gypsies. Like wtf all they went thru and they gypsies now.

So, at the end Layla decided to abandon her army career and became a gypsy, along with everybody else, it seems. And Ashley became Akito's best friend, let's not forget that.

Let's just puke some rainbows and call it an ending.

6/10. The action scenes were the only good part.

biggest problem was they gave the wrong expectations

the whole storyline would've done better if they didn't slap the fanbase in the face by teasing lelouch & suzaku, putting them in trailers and previews as if they were relevant, yet they were arguing over water the entire time. don't give me expectations of the OG main duo because regardless, they'll take the spotlight.

in any case, for the actual ova series - more questions than answers. the Dimensional Supervisor was a little bit too random; no foreshadowing, just appeared like a Deus Ex Machina thing.
Leila's geass was also random too (in that it wasn't explained from the previous episode).
That guy waking up from his coma was random. who was he and why.
Ashura near the end murdering the Dictator-General of France by appearing from the sky via a dimensional-transport (what was that) and then becoming a gypsy was random.
considering that Leila and the dictator general have stepped or died from command over the EU, the fact that Britannia wasn't able to conquer a leaderless region is weird. in the very least i'm surprised Britannia didn't take advantage of the gov't turmoil that was happening in the EU even after considering Shaing traitor.

overall, meh

Yukiya survived.
What is up with Lelouch and water.
Lelouch getting choked with a smile on his face.
He wants Suzaku to kill him?
They're going to get Nunnally.
Sophie in that bikini.
Ashley really on their side now. lol He got tired of getting raped by Akito.
Dat Jean back view oppai. I doubt they'll show nipples since CG stopped doing that due to executive meddling.
Holy shit! Nipples in CG are back! If that was the case then why didn't they show Leila's nipples when she was suiting up in the 2nd episode or Ayano and Leila getting stripped in the 3rd? Missed opportunity. Are they trying to say Jean is Kallen?
Ashley getting a free view.
I liked Kallen's shower scene better.
Shin's 2nd Geass is active.
Dat suicide.
lol at Ryo being mad at Ashley cause he got a new knightmare.
Akito cut his hair off.
Leila face getting red.
Dat explosion.
Yukiya woke up.
Dat Ayano booty. Dat oppai.
Ayano forces Jean out of the cockpit. Dat Ayano oppai.
Jean has a gun taped to her back. Don't get out Ayano!
Dat Ayano booty.
None can resist my waifu Ayano.
Yukiya!
Ashley is in "Shine" mode now.
Yukiya is alive!
The BRS rate is over 300%!
Akito vanished?
LMAO at baby Akito.
Unfaithful ass mother. Shin's dad had to handle that.
The skull gave Shin his Geass?
DAMN! Dat Hilda and Chloe scene. First thing I saw was Hilda get hit and that shit went through her body. Then Chloe took it all from the back.
Oh shit! Sophie got sprayed. She too fine to die. Focking shot her in the oppai. Disrespectful.
Oh shit! They all got sprayed! Joe Wise got headshotted.
Why would you kill all the women? Dumbasses.
So that's what the wife looked like.
Leila's blue Geass has appeared.
Takeru is awake?
It's that Geass woman. I was wondering when she'd show up again.
Leila's power is a fragment of the Geass.
lol at her calling Shin's Geass perverted.
Bad End avoided. They've been given a second chance. Would have been nice if that happened for Euphy.
Ryo!
Oh shit! Out the cockpit! 1 on 1 swordfight!
Ayano oppai.
Dat slash!
The power of friendship.
Spirit form Ayano oppai.
Jean got in the way.
She shot Shin.
Dat Shin death. Jeanne can now be with Shin in the gates of hell.
Hilda and Chloe holding hands.
How the hell did Ashley appear like that?
Dat Smilas death.
So the castle belonged to Leila's family. And that portrait with the skull Geass is there.
Anou deserved that shit.
Ayano is there. Oppai looking good as usual.
lol at Ryo.
Akito face got red.
Dat kiss!
NO! Ayano saw that! Dat oppai. Hope Akito adds Ayano to the harem.
Lelouch and Suzaku. They're getting out.
A young person appears before them. Fock! I was hoping he'd get retconned.

It was interesting seeing the world of Code Geass outside of Japan. It felt weird in the beginning, but ended up being all right. Leila's blue Geass was interesting with the amount of things it was doing.

Oh boy I must say this sure really was an epic ending! Great action, superb development and an awesome conclusion to these five movies I must say!

In general I quite liked the overall development of these movies as it had a quite lovely progression, but I did find the pacing on times rather slow.

All in all it was a pretty lovely watch and an extension tot the franchise.

Akito x Leila in the end.
I wonder why they didn't claim the castle.

Leila Geass is a unique one. it doesn't have a trait, maybe because Leila never seek power or forgot about it. or maybe, it's because her Geass is just a fragment, so it changed to convenient power when it called.
geass canceller, rewind space and time, warp portal, spirit conversation (lol, I don't know how they call it), etc.

Shin's geass is a wasted one, because he's not as genius as Lulu.

in the end, the emperor want to "rewrite" Lulu past once again and that's where R2 starts.

As a Code Geass fan I must say: Fuck this film. Fuck it with every fiber of my being. This film was an insult to the main series and even to the other films. Since it's probably considered canon, it has made Geass as a whole physically unexplainable, and given that it was already tough to explain in R1, let alone R2, this was just the ultimate kick in the balls. A literal deus ex machina, the fact that almost no event in this movie makes sense, everything about Leila's "half Geass" that somehow does multiple things at once (slowing down time, causing empathy between others, and in movie 4, temporarily blinding Shin) when a Geass has always been shown to only do one thing, the horrific mecha battle directing, how it manages to be the final nail in the coffin in the lack of proper development for both Akito and Leila, the CGI mechs being worse than the actually fine ones of movies 3 and 4, and so, so much more. All of it culminates in one of the most hateful anime experiences I've had this year. The other films were bad, sometimes terrible, but even by the standards of the rest of this sub-series, this film is an insult, and it's the final nail in the coffin for Akito the Exiled. Since this series was hell bent on ravaging the nature of the franchise's core elements and doing whatever it can to mostly retcon a canonical reason for R2 to exist (namely everything about Suzaku's presence and actions, and everything about Julius Kingsley), and since this final film did all of this shit, I shall declare Akito the Exiled as nonexistent, for like Tsukihime, it deserves it.

Can anyone explain the story to me? Some things were really confusing to me.

1.) Why did Leila have a Geass that was not really a Geass but something similar?

2.) Why did Akito not die when his brother ordered him to when he was a child?

3.) Why did it instead give him those crazy-ass powers?

4.) Why did Shain want to destroy the world so badly? Just because he had an issue with his mother being unfaithful and unhappy or why? I really did not get his hatred for the world.

Thanks in advance if anyone takes the time to answer my questions!
Because this film has more plotholes than R2. Nothing makes sense in this movie.

On the contrary, I think the film makes plenty of sense. I've addressed that myself in earlier posts.

But I know, sometimes people will dislike an idea, event or image so much that they have no interest or investment in thinking about the material in a more constructive manner, one that allows for paying attention to the details in a comprehensive way, thus leading to the simplistic dismissals full of disgust or anger, as seen above, which do not take all the information into consideration.

It's a shame, but thankfully not everyone thinks that way.

Best ending. The mecha fight is the best I have ever seen, even in Code Geass. The ending was cool. There was also that heartwarming moment between Ayano and Jean. But Jean died at the end. Poor Jean.

Also, I feel sorry for Suzaku when Julius asks him for water. It is sad that he has to be with the person who killed his lover and keep him alive, without punishment. I know people sympathize with Lelouch but Suzaku had been getting the short end of the stick the whole time. If I was in Suzaku's place, I would have done the same thing he did.

This episode gave the most apt explanation for Collective Consciousness than NGAE ever did. When the observer becomes powerful enough, the physical and the mental world intertwine and change the fabric of reality. Which explains the objective of the people from C.C.'s world.

We get a detailed look at Shin's past and it is clear he had a messed up childhood. That's the reason why he wants to destroy the world, because he believes that it is cruel.

This movie ended on a high note. Finally, Akito X Leila confirmed!

Now I understand why the ghosts came into picture. The geass is a manipulator of reality.

I hope that Leila will appear in Code Geass R3 along with Akito, even for a cameo. After all, she is the heir of Briesgau.

I don't know who this anime is for

For the desire for this anime to be its own thing, it fails. Character personalities are decent at best, character dynamics have no chemistry. The relationships are a series of story beats, not development

For the desire for this anime to function as an extension and interlude between Code Geass season 1 and R2, it fails. The new characters don't hold a candle to most of Code Geass' cast, causing the anticipation to fall to Suzaku and Lelouch's appearances, which don't happen enough

It handles its supernatural elements better than R2 did. Yay

The Knightmare battles are the only redeeming thing about this anime

Unfortunately. I had not found myself bored in the slightest when Code Geass didn't have its Knightmare battles

The characters, their motivations, their dynamics, their chemistry was all so good that I didn't care about the times there was no action. Not the case with Akito the Exiled

This anime is not Code Geass. I don't know what the actual fuck this is

No Lelouch you shall NOT get water!

I do have to say that I watched this 3 years after the 4th movie but despite that, it didn't have the same impact or was as memorable as the seasons.
The action was fine as expected from mecha's fighting each other with the budget that Akito had.
The plot however, like I said, not as memorable or interesting as I hoped it would be, this was my least favourite Akito movie together with the 3rd one.
Wasn't a fan of the whole Blue Geass or the stuff about a collective conscience / being able to create a new universe.

7/10 for the final film.

This was fucking BAD. I don't know how the directors managed to produce a finale this awful, but they pulled it off. Congratulations are in order.

I want to forget about this as soon as I can, so I'm gonna breeze through most of this. The audiovisual stuff didn't change. It still sucked. I hate that trumpet (I think) soundtrack that plays over half of the action scenes. It doesn't match and it sucks. The CG is still shit. Enough of that. The characters continued down their trend of regression, with nobody getting enough screen time to properly develop their characters. At least we got to see a somewhat happy ending. As a Shokugeki no Souma fan, the ending with Akito and Leila getting together pissed me off. And can I just mention how pointless Lelouch and Suzaku were? Seriously, why did they need to come back? I would have been less angry if they just didn't show up at all. Lelouch barely contributes to the story and it just further suspends my disbelief. He didn't even appear that much! He showed up for maybe 20, 30 minutes in the third movie than vanished until the last forty seconds of the fifth. And as infuriating as that is, it isn't even the worst part of the movie. The absolute worst part of this movie was the story. Holy shit, what a trainwreck. In a universe that has magical powers, this movie managed to be EVEN STUPIDER. Fucking wormholes? Seriously? Nobody's actions make any sense. In fact, nothing makes sense! I still don't know what any of these stupid scientific words mean. That's it, though. That's all I'm saying. These movies are an insult to not just fans of Code Geass, but to anyone who enjoys watching anime. 4/10.

Okay, this just crumbled real time here. Seriously, all those Geass and rewinding time bit just felt so disoriented and off. I'm not even going to go in depth here because it hardly made sense to me.

And the villain thinks it's best to destroy the world because of his mother's actions, I just couldn't get myself on board with that honestly.

Some of the action early up and the last couple of minutes was easily the best portion of the Movie. Leila x Akito prevails and Jeanne x Shin in the after life, not bad. Leila's best friend losing consciousness when learning of Yukiya's condition at the start is kind of curious-striking though, I don't remember a single implication to that literally whatsoever and we didn't even get an explanation on that lol.

5/10 to this Part 5 and 6/10 to the Akito series.

It started out as adult version of code geass (taking discrimation, war etc in a very political way) and along the way turned into shit (by adding geass and brm system supernatural nonsense). This movies in on whole another level time travel, space time distortion?? What??
It also suffers from poor character development (not enough time for characters to stick out or give out a presence)

One thing consistent about it is the full blown mecha action fights. At that it was even better than code geuss

Overall still watchable I guess

This was atrocious. Wish I could get back the last 5 hours of my life. I usually bail on garbage quickly, but I really enjoyed the two seasons of the original and the remake movies so I was way too forgiving and didn't bail.

The person responsible for the story should never touch a Geass project ever again. It's like they never saw the original but got a bullet point summary of the show, and then just winged it. I still don't understand what any of the Geass powers did whereas it was clearly defined in the original. There was very little ambiguity as to what Lelouch or Rolo were able to do.

Visually it looked fine, although really didn't like the CG look of the mechs compared to the original's hand drawn animation. Furthermore, the designs were kinda ugly and maybe a bit too creative. I didn't feel like they belonged in the Geass universe. For example, the gold's mech sword consisting of giants gears looked way too silly.

The biggest issue however was the writing. Whose bright idea was it to go from someone as charismatic as Lelouch to some bland antisocial douchebag like Akito? He was so fucking boring. The rest of the cast was equally as unlikable. What's with the fat scientist who sucks on lollipops? What's the obsession with calling him by his full name Joe Wise whereas everyone else is addressed to simply by their first or last name? What was the point of the husband in a coma plot line? The BRS thing with the mechs and constant scene cuts to the science crew was obnoxious... Argh fuck it, I don't want to waste more time talking about this garbage. It's not worth it.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Okay beginning, strong middle, weak ending.

Plot is predictable, too much talk no jutsu to my liking, and the plot armor feels overused, Characters are pretty likeable though so I guess they don't want to kill them.

Really like the concept of special ops team living in a high tech castle, it's really cool.
Fight scenes were really good, and the girls are really pretty. Should watch if you're a fan of CG as the mecha anime instead of solely liking it for Lelouch.

Well that was something. I feel like this last entry wasn't good or bad, it was just... bizarre. I didn't really understand what the heck was happening with Akito and Shin disappearing and all those "ghosts" appearing in front of Shin and how Akito and his friends were all connected or something.

Seeing everyone in the command centre die was really shocking. Glad that that didn't happen in the end.

Little Akito was really cute.

Sad ending for Jeanne though.

I missed a lot after the battle because after the ending song started playing the subs I was watching just completely disappeared or was incoherent. There was something about the Breisgau blood being related to the revolution 300 years ago and how maybe some day the Breisgaus will reclaim it? Wish I could understand the difficult Japanese.

And I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. Ashley magically warps to a battlefield between the Europian forces and the Euro-Britannian forces and then kills Smilas, which is deserved but still. And then somehow he, and his unit, all end up together with Akito and the gang as gypsies? I'm just confused. Did they decide to leave the war behind completely? At least Leila and Akito got together. I really love Leila, and I like their pairing.

Overall, it was decent I guess. To be honest, I didn't like some of the Knightmare designs. They felt too outlandish to exist in the Code Geass universe, like Shin's Knightmare. I have mixed feelings on the Alexanders as well, since they seem to be very deadly against Knightmares and yet Europia hasn't won the war against Euro-Britannia.

Can anyone perhaps explain to me all the information they gave after Ashley kills General Smilas?

I liked the first half with how the confrontation started, action boards are nice there too. But Akito vs Shin is so dragged out, with multiple flashbacks inserted in. Akito completely turns into a pacifist. The Britannian knight that invades the castle also lets Leila pass (?) when the whole reason for them was to capture her. The ending is weird but they seem to enjoy living there so good for them. Also, if the Britannian homeland had to intervene, shouldn't they have taken over the Europian area but how did it turn into a republic then? There's no way Britannia will allow that under the rule.

Now, I need to get a hold of the picture dramas somehow.

Yukiya's alive but critically injured. He did it for the team.
Locking Suzaku and amnesiac Lelouch up so they don't snitch about Shin's intention to destroy Pendragon. Lelouch wants Nunnally.
Ashley's defected to the EU; Shin's treatment of his troops and ambitions really pushed him over. Akito's much more merciful.
Woah Jean's got some niceplot, lucky Ashley—the joy of being an OVA; no censorship.
The pilots that survived Yukiya's nuking do a full-scale assault on the castle.
3DCG animation aside, I think the Knightmare battles in this OVA are entertaining, great use of the environment with traps like metal punji sticks and wires.
Bury his hair if Akito doesn't make it back in one piece...damn. He truly loves Leila.
Yukiya's awake. Despite knowing what Shin will do to the Britannian capital, Jean is still on Shin's side. Ayano makes one last effort.
Yukiya sorties despite his condition. After wiping the floor with the knight's last episode, he does it again. So slick.
As entertaining the battle is, Shin's whole motivation as a villain seems pretty weak. "I knew Mum was unfaithful to dad the moment I saw my newborn half brother," shinigami gives him Geass and he becomes omnicidal. This really ruins the OVA for me.
Nooooo, everyone in the control room but Leila got massacred. Even Warwick shields Leila.

Leila's blue Geass activates. She sees the dead, both the ones close to her and to the Hyuuga siblings.
This woman's not C.C. So Leila's Geass is in her subconscious. Shin's Geass is indeed perverted.
Just like the painting Akito saw, a black haired angel and a blonde woman (Akito's first waifu).
That woman Leila met was a literal deus ex machina. Leila has her second chance with her comrades alive.

I'm between Shin being such a boring villain and the last battle with Ryo and Ashley helping Akito (well Ashley warmed up to Ryo rather quick). After they got out of their Knightmares it was even worse.

The souls of both the dead and living have come to protect Akito, but the one to finally stop Shin was Jean, whom Ayano seemed to have convinced.

After the battle, Ashley returns to his former unit in his new Knightmare to deliver justice unto Napoleon-wannabe Smilas. The Caretaker of Spacetime haunts him one last time, GOODBYE BOZO!

Now discharged, all of wZero join up with the Romani grannies, even Ashley. Wish we could get a flash forward of Ayano and the others finally visiting Japan as they wanted (after it was liberated).
AKITO X LEILA KISS!

Well, I'm glad to have returned to this after growing less prejudiced against 3D mecha. Much of the designs are great (except for Shin's stupid ass Vercingetorix, which belongs in Isekai or Fantasy mecha, not a series like this) and the battles were exciting. The romance between Leila and Akito is cute. As the story progressed, characters like Yukiya, Warwick and Ashley were fleshed out more (but unfortunately, most of those who died in the control room bad-end, didn't). If it weren't for Akito, Yukiya would be the MVP of wZERO. Where it fell flat was the additions to Geass lore; why couldn't we see more of the Caretaker of Spacetime? Leila's Geass was barely touched upon except for the fortune telling where she had a memory of C.C. Once again, at first the mystery of Shin and Akito's relationship pulled me in, why did he massacre his family and so on, but the big infodump this episode just ruined it.

Seems a fine show and not really climax ending. I still don't get it what Lelouch do right there, but okay. Akito finally dating Leila, a good couple.

That was pretty good movie but I feel like they add a little too much of supernatural stuff in this part.....(^_^;)

The knightmare fight scenes was intense and really good, love the entire action sequence in this last movie.

shin and akito are brothers only in paper cause their mom cheat with that random household servant making them brother with different father, even so his method of removing people from suffering via directly killing them is wrong.

When I finally thought suzaku will give lelouch some water it turned out badly, rolo is also here.

Finally they kissed!! Akito x leila ship is one of the few thing that made me keep watching this spinoff and now I'm fully satisfied ヽ(´▽`)/. This was a great movie and I'm glad they delve dipper into the system of geass. 8/10

Ahh I love this parallel series so much. From the first moment to the last it doesn't let up. I love Lelouch, but this one just hits different. It's easily one of my all-time favorites, and I watch a LOT of anime lol. Action, friendship, adventure, romance, it checks all the boxes.
Side note:
The Penrose effect reference really caught my attention. I looked it up and saw it was first observed this year (2025). I’m not a physicist, but it’s cool how this anime played with black hole physics, consciousness, and observer theory before experiments confirmed it.
