I watched tons of anime, but never got depression. I imagine depression may caused with a variety of other factor like lack of certain of chemicals firing in the brain, but I am definitely no expert on the topic.

Anger, Depression, Hatred, Love, Hope, etc anime lets you experience all...

Just watch a comedy anime, and get over your depression. Though, this would take time. Or make one of your friends watch it, seriously... This too takes your depression away, since then (most probably) you both would be sharing the same pain. This happened to me once, when I finished watching Akame ga Kill. I was so depressed that I didn't do anything for two days, barely ate anything lol. Then later on, I made my cousin and a friend of mine watch it... After that due time I got over that depression...

I don't know if it was anime or real life problems, but once you have depression you can't get rid of it. I mean, depression is a mental illness, so you don't actually get it, you develop it over the years, you can't get it in one day because of an anime.

Yeah...kind of. When I look at my life and compare it to various animes I've seen. It's a bit depressing to see a paradise you longed for, right before my eyes, without the possibility of me ever living the same. But in some ways, it helps with my depression as well; because when I watched an anime, some did aid me in detaching myself from reality for a moment. Therefore, I am glad to watch animes, and nothing will ever change.

It's not anime that gives you depression, anime just pulls on the strings in your soul that are already prone to depression.

Anime probably didn't give you depression. Depression probably gave you anime. Seek help from crispy and ironic memes. It's only the true savior. Throw it around until you get reported. It's fun. And unbelievably depressing but that's the whole point because fuck life and everything that comes with it. Tryna find salvation is like finding my will to live; thing never fucking existed in the first place.lol

Did it give me depression? No, for sure not. But some shows can make the problems go away and that's the beauty of the medium.

My thought consumed me to the point I saw no meaning in life anymore for not finding the answer

No, not really. Instead, anime makes me feel better. But once, manga Umineko no Naku Koro ni gave me a depression. I took it to close to my heart what usually doesn’t happen

Nah, I enjoy a good depresive show, it gives me like a feel of emptyness mixed with satisfaction because generally depresive shows have an ending. And I think all the depresive shows have a nice side, I think I never watched a show with a complete bad end.

Well it did help curb depressing thoughts in a negative way by obsessive binge watching to forget my shitty life problems.

But actually giving me depression? A couple series did depress me, but the medium as a whole not at all.

anime should give you depression tough at best... not crippling depression... you probably already has it before...
