And I mean really blatant in its misogyny, like rape glorification, humilation, women as cattle, slavery, over the top sexist stereotypes and blatantly unlikable characters. ...Ahem, Just in case, I of course don't approve of what I listed. |

@SuperRed More sexist than misogynistic and on both sides: Darling in the Franxx. The mecha's model and all of episode 8 can explain why. King's Game: Throughout the murderous game, all the girls either: cried, died, got raped, talked about boys, and/or progressed the plot because they were raped or "in love". High school of the Dead |

That's like 90% of hentai (and I'm being generous that 10% isn't any of those). Beyond that, I'm not going to list any non-hentai just so someone can compile a list of shows to be "offended" by. |

Diabolik Lovers is worse than the majority of hentai in that it unironically presents rapists as alluring to a demographic of teenage girls. |

no one here has heard of la blue girl? it was famous in the 90s. it's got: sexcraft, ninja gangbangs, tentacle rape, sexcamps, porn studios, yuri, futanari ninja "magic"(before futanari was a thing), virgin prophecies, and more, you name it, it practically has it all. you can practically feel the misogyny vibrate off the pages. it is honestly the most perfect example of misogyny i've ever seen. |

Outside of Hentai territory the answer that immediately came to mind was Violence Jack's second OVA. Like they had an entire colony of women who's only purpose was to get sexually assaulted on multiple occasions. Even the one strong female fighter in the colony who could easily have protected everyone got spooked because a man pulled out his penis saying he had to pee resulting in like the most frustratingly anti-climactic death and torture in an already super edgy episode that may as well have been torture porn. Not to mention the god awful setup for the scene near the end. |

Diabolik lovers, I think that was the title xD It's about sadistic vampires who treat a girl like shit, abuse her drinking her blood when and where they want, the girl wants to run away but can't, etc... It's an otome, the girl is fragile and stupid. That anime is repulsive, really. |

Gotta go with stuff like Sukisho that completely denies the existence of the female gender. I believe it was in this podcast where some female anime journalists/critics stated that they viewed "No, I'M going to make lunch for him!" harem shows like Shuffle! as more sexist and problematic than straight-up T&A fests like Ikki-Tousen. Take that however you will. |

I would agree on a lot of shoujo anime being misogynist or just heavily fetishized. Ao Haru Ride and Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji come to mind. Painfully stupid female protagonists and abusive love interests that for whatever reason MCs fawn over, despite them mostly behaving like trash, then having a short likable moment or a 'backstory' that is somehow supposed to justify them being douches. School days also portrays women in an awful way, all of them are whores, psychos or incredibly stupid, or all of these at once. But then again, it's not just women in it but the whole thing that sucks ass. CJ_Kiyoruki said: More sexist than misogynistic and on both sides: Darling in the Franxx. The mecha's model and all of episode 8 can explain why. What's sexist in FranXX, like seriously? Making a joke on doggy style is sexist? Towards whom, and how? Sex is not sexist, and the anime doesn't ever really get into any stereotypes or gender roles, heck, the whole society is still largely a mystery in FranXX, and the anime has interesting characters of both genders. It's not at all sexist. I wouldn't say it's really sexist either. Sexualization itself is not really necessarily sexist, and really, the whole thing is exaggerated in all aspects, it's mostly a parody of zombie apocalypse. It's pretty mediocre, sure, and so is the characterization (of all characters, not just women there was just little effort), but I wouldn't call it sexist just because the girls have big tits lol. |

Idk, I thought misogyny was defined as something pretty much expressing contempt for women, not just stuff like this: SuperRed said: And I mean really blatant in its misogyny, like rape glorification, humilation, women as cattle, slavery, over the top sexist stereotypes and blatantly unlikable characters Like I can't help but ask myself, "Why the hell is blatantly unlikable characters on the list?" - really, how is having unlikable female characters a misogynyst concept? Are female characters not allowed to be written as unlikable, even though unlikable females do exist as much as unlikable males or unlikable anybody? And that's putting aside that the first four sound like subcategories for different types of S&M type stuff as soon as I hear them, rather than something necessarily rooted in gender portrayals or viewing women negatively or whatever. Like, stuff like DearS features alien slave girls on leashes and it's pretty hard for me to think that it's born out of contempt for women and not just sexualizing that concept, and I just don't see how that can reasonably considered a real problem. Not like I'm going to go around treating every woman I interact with as that sort of equivalent just because I fuckin' like that series and I would very much be annoyed by such insinuations because it's simply projecting aspects of my character onto me just because I have the audacity to fetishize stuff like that sometimes. Meh. Idk, when I scroll through threads like this on AD lately I can't help but worry people are being way too haphazard in the concepts they're considering sexist or misogynyst and yet, I have this lingering worry that if I speak up about those concerns, I'll just get dogpiled with namecalling and such because that's how a lot of it seems to play out. I don't fucking hate women, I just don't see the issue with characterizing them or portraying them in ways that aren't fucking railroaded into pre-approved portrayals or constructs. That goes for literally everybody regardless of culture or gender or age or any other variables like this so if I'm misogynyst for viewing things like that then I might as well just be an outright misanthrope because I apply that way of thinking to fuckin' everything. I mean, I don't and likely will never consider myself a misanthrope, but at least it'd be a much more fair label to hurl out in this case. But just, what's the point? I feel like I'll just get accused of being a fucking neo-nazi or something by a lot of people on this board right now if I express concerns with stuff like this being called misogynistic constructs, or like I'm pro hating women or something whenever I just see things like this and think that it's a bit of a reach to say a lot of this stuff is the direct product of a creator hating women or the series advocating it. Just fuck it all, though. The villain lady in KLK is rape-y and unlikable, so I'll extremely halfheartedly and lazily and insincerely go with that and pull my hat out. |

@Imaishi I'm mainly referring to some stuff from episode 8, and I also said it was sexist on both sides, men and women. Women are frail beings who need to be protected by their big macho male partners? Zero 2 doesn't need to be protected, but that's because she doesn't entirely count as a woman? I'm pretty sure in episode 1, Dr. Franxx gropes one of the female officers and that's comedy? And I'm not referring to the doggy aspect of the mecha. As for HOTD, I sort of count it. There's not really an equal aspect of the fanservice, and although many of the women claim to have a sense of self-defense, they still cower behind main male when something big happens. |

Death Note the most misogynistic anime I have ever seen. The women are pawns. Fanservice. No women in Death Note rise above. All the women are foolish and all the men are super geniuses. Not even Dragon Ball managed to be so bad about it. I also think I Me My Strawberry Eggs is sexist. It tries to make comments about gender that are just... ug. And if I were to pick one where the sexism is not really obvious Oremonogatari and Love Live would be good contenders. I think by comparison, stuff like Diabolik Lovers is harmless when you compare it to the likes of Oremonogatari. Diabolik Lovers is more about a preditor-prey thing they aren't human. if anything, speciesist. whatever. Diabolik Lovers is built on the premise of powerplay. I pass it off as a submissive sex fantasy. Where Oremonogatari isn't that. It is very submissive. Very demure girl. very much exactly perfect girl. |

But since I edge towards the innocent side of that and tend to like smokers, people who kill their rapist, and characters who leave arranged marriages.... ummmmm I would say my edge factor isn't as high as a lot of people who watch a lot of hentai.
