What type of unnatural hair color do you like best?
| This topic along with this challenge from the AWC 2017 "Watch an anime with a main character that doesn't have a natural hair color - state the character; excludes black, brown, blonde, red, white and gray" got me thinking if there is any special charms of characters with unnatural hair. Looking at my favorite ones I noticed that they are all have "natural hair" by that standard. Even irl I don't mind people with these types of hair color but they generally don't strike me as apealling or charming. tl;dr(lol) I was wondering if any of you guys had liked a character not only for their personalities but for the peculiarity of their hair color. | Well, I really, really like white/silver hair on younger characters, which white and silver is only really natural for elderly people. If that doesn't count then I'd probably say Pink is my favorite unnatural hair color Overall it's just kind of pretty and eye-catching, I guess. Stands out a lot more than a blond or black haired character, but I also feel like they're harder to pull off well and can be kind of meh if not done right. I guess to illustrate my point, I think Shiro's bluish-silver locks look absolutely stunning. In that same vein, Mine's hair, eyes, and clothes are all so overwhelmingly pink that it just doesn't work very well for me. Albeit I'm not as picky as to find her unattractive, she was the most attractive girl in that whole series ._. I think in her case its more of an issue of eye color I guess, but in turn that kind of makes the hair look less appealing So idk, I can't really put into words why I think this is the case, but it seems like it'd be harder for a character to pull off but when they pull it off well it's an incredibly appealing design |

Yes, I understand your point that unnaturally colored hair designs are harder to pull off since from the start they don't seem to fit in in certain scenes unlike blonde/black which is common place. Shirou's hair is pretty cool. Yeah I did notice that the next seemingly common color from the natural ones are pink. Might be a coincidence but pink is pretty common in anime. My bad, I considered that there may be too many possible colors so I thought violet would be enough(well obviously violet!=purple), nevertheless, the "others" option is available. Edit: Okay, I added new options. |

Hair color doesn't contribute to the likability and quality of a character for me, but speaking from an aesthetic perspective only I guess I'd have to say pink. Though natural hair colors are generally preferred, I really like the look of Utena's hair... I've seen some concept art where they play around with her hair color a bit, even messing around with a more natural blonde color (probably heralding back to the Rose of Versailles), but the pink really does look best! Also some JJBA characters like Trish, Hot Pants, Reimi, etc.  I do wish more character designers would use it with males though, it can look pretty cool.   |

| Looking at my favorites, I prefer characters with natural hair colors. The only character I really adorable with an unnatural hair color is Senjougahara. I suppose if I had to pick a color, I would pick dark blue. It looks the closest to black, which is a natural color. |

| It all boils down to the shade and how the show is animated. Like, Rei doesn't really stand out as a "blue haired anime girl" because they went with a pale, "natural-looking" (somehow) shade of blue. Contrast to the blue haired girl in this:  which looks generic and stands out in a bad way. |

| I don't find color only special to be honest. Hair length (or style) is more important than it's color. Though if I should choose, I will choose green over the other in the list. |

| I don't care about the hair color, at least on a conscious level. Looking at my favorites, all but Motoko (purple) and Revy ("maroon") have/had normal hair colors. If I was to choose a hair color though....I dunno. I guess purple |

| I have a thing for anime redhead girls, mostly because of the hair colors. (Not unnatural, but look at the shades.) Blue-haird girls and green-haired girls are also pleasant to look at. White looks good, black and brown can look good depending how well they fit on the overall character design, blondes are good. Pink is just pink. There are rare pink-haired girls why I like the hair color on the design. |

| Unnatural hair colors are great, and even before I started watching anime, weird hair colors was always something I associated with the genre. My favorites would have to be blue and pink, but natural hair colors aren't bad at all either. |

The other haircolors from the poll I'm mostly indifferent about, but Pink is probably my least favorite. If I had to rank them it'd be Orange > Dark Blue > Green > Light Blue > Violet > Purple > Pink |

XD One day I managed to find his exact doppelganger in Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 4 (which surprised me, tbh, I'd never seen him before)... and green hair looks so good on eyepatched boys.
