People who fall in love with anime characters...

So I guess due to me having nothing to do than browse Mal and snoop through a few profiles I notice alot of people have their waifu listed there as well as stuff like 'their top 10 anime females' or some shit.
Here's the thing though, I don't mind if people find anime guys/ girls hot or not or if they fap to them but physically falling in love with a cartoon character seems a bit off, anyway..

What do you think about it all?

It's perfectly normal, and it will eventually become normal in the general public within a decade or so.

just because you can't fall in love with an anime character doesn't mean others can't. It might be weird and cringey but to them it's what they like.

Isn't that like falling in love with an object though?

Physically falling in love with a character? It's fine. Less competition in real life for others.

Hmm, I never felt that sort of way before. But I will have to agree with your statement... it does seem a bit odd.

I remember that old waifuism video

Yeah it's fine if you're just messing around, but please don't take this shit so seriously. They are fictional characters created by old Japanese men.

I actually had to make a list in my blog for female anime chars, cause I realized I had none in my actual favorites. They often follow the same boring archetypes and have these annoying personality quirks and sentence ender things. Not a fan of high-pitched voices either. Even when they are older characters, they usually never act their age and I just find little girls be annoying as fuck with few exceptions. Honestly the biggest thing is just that I couldn't relate. I didn't give a shit about their BS trivial first world cute anime girl problems.

Top 10 female characters is different than a waifu.

I am a man loyal to his waifu, I consider her a wife on several levels. I would never betray her love.

I doubt a lot of people, even if they do have a waifu list, are physically in love with those characters... Sure, there are exceptions, but that goes for everything.

Hey man, thanks for the embed definitely helped me understand the mentality behind these kind of people. I think the same way completely.

I don't think top 10 female character lists are weird. It's just another list people make to show their favourites. Obsessing over a girl, real or not, is weird. If a top 10 anime females list is weird, then a top 10 female actresses list is just as weird. You have the same chance of getting with any girl from either list, which is no chance. The difference is the real girl would verbalize her rejection while you can pretend your waifu accepts you.

It's easier to fall in love with fictional characters and not just anime.
Real people are much more complicated and never perfect.

Physically falling in-love? What is this "physically" exactly. Please explain.

I'm sure in 10 years you'll be able to buy a life-size android version of your waifu and that's that.

It'll probably alienate me enough to stop me from watching anime.
Just need to find out how to quote this every time so I can dodge the stupid 30-character limit.

I sometimes joke about my "husbando", but I don't actually have one. There's been plenty of both male and female anime characters I've liked, but none to the point where I feel like I'm love with any of them.

I don't really know if anyone actually "loves" anime characters either. I'm sure there's a small minority, but I think most people who have "waifus" or "husbandos" simply find those characters physically attractive, and/or like their personalities. I doubt they're in love with them in the same way you fall in love with a real human.
That's just my baseless assumption though, I can't speak for anyone but myself.

I applaud them for the courage they summon to embrace what would be a stigma in society.

I consider them "early adopters". I don't think it's too ridiculous in thinking that people will one day fall in love with say electronic devices when they are resembling people at a fast pace as technology advances.

i love it when people start acting like some neutral almighty unbiased godly judge and they even believe their own shit, suddenly its not their thoughts and opinions anymore but the righteous justice god way, they are unbiased, non-subjective, they just are! To be honest, everyone is like this quite often, me included, but i don't forget myself and i still post a lot of personal shit which is what forums are made for , if they didn't want us to have our own style and posts it would be an article instead a forum thread.

It's certainly possible, but it's necessarily unrequited, so if it was to ever happen with you you'd be better off riding with the emotional turmoil for a few days or weeks tops then doing everything you can (read: interacting with human beings) to snap out of it.

It sums up current Japanese males and their reproduction issues. The sad reality that people are so unconfident they'd rather have a fake romance with a cartoon character than just talk to a real girl.

It's either they are dating Koreans or they aren't dating at all (mostly the latter).

No, but seriously, they are just a bunch of lines guys xD Not cool.
Try something more 'approachable', like an actor or singer or I dunno.
