We get to see how smart Erin is...

The pace is a bit slow but since there are 50 episodes, I guess they want to make the first introductory chapter a pretty solid one.

Next episode, Erin get to see the ferocious side of the fighting lizards....

Hopefully, by episode 5, we can see major plot development (we all know Soyon is doomed to die at one point...)

bla bla bla
The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

I thought it was interesting that the guy told Erin that he saw her mother in her. I could definitely see Erin becoming her mother in the future.

I thought it was an interesting episode - the flowers caught my interest at the beginning and throughout the rest I was trying to figure out their link to the touda.

I really don't want anything bad to happen to souyon ;~;, but at the same time I really want Erin to become a really cool lead.

So yeah, it's really clear Soyoun is going to die. My guess is (since they keep stressing that it will be her responsibilty if a Touma dies) she'll mess up caring for one of the dragons, or she'll be framed, and be sentenced to die. Doesn't matter really though, since it seems Erin is the most capable vet in town.

Also, I don't like the little animation for the Touma rage, and I don't like the mother's narration over her own character.

I thought the same thing. She's almost definitely going to die caring for a Touda.

The art style in this series is really flat and simplistic, but I kind of like it. I can see this series getting boring really quickly if we get too many more "Erin saves the day" episodes, though.

I really liked this episode. Very simple with the whole "a problem occurs, and the episode is focused around solving the problem". However I wasn't even the slightest bit bored for the whole ep.
I love the medieval/fantasy setting, and the artwork is really good in my eyes. Some seem to think it's really badly drawn, however there are plenty of scenes where it's very detailed, and all of the colours used are amazing.
It's just a different style, once you get used to it you can appreciate it.

Oh, and remember that this show is about "a young woman who is drawn into a war between kingdoms", as it says in the synopsis. So we can expect some significant kind of plot development soon.

You know the Narrator might actually be the young girl grown up. They might use the same VA as the mother.

As for the mothers death...I agree, it will probably happen at some point. I think thats what happened to Erin's dad who "died" as well. He was either eaten by a Toda or he was punished for a mistake that happened to a toda. I'd like to think Erin's mother dies protecting Erin though. It would suck if she died due to being framed by someone in the village.

One thing to note is the mist people apparently know "spells" and "magic". I wonder if we will encounter any in the future.

I like this series, even if it's aimed at children (NHK oblige !) and thus extremely pedagogic and over-explained. You can see that the world and background are well-developped and the plot is showing good promises.

I know guys that this show is aimed towards children and I really don't expect too much on it.

However, I'll be sticking around for more because I want to know what will happen next. Anyway, I haven't got anything good to watch this season.

Mm, I really wish the art was the same as this. It's what I was originally expecting, and still looks immensely better. Ah well.

I thought the poisoning was going to be from the Touda attempting to eat the offered goat meat, which turned out to be poisoned from the flowers. Why didn't its owner tell Soyon that it liked to eat fish...? Why didn't the rude doctor dude look into the water before scooping some up...? Why did they offer goat meat at all when the one that got killed could have been one that ate the poisonous flowers...? And why did the Touda stop eating in the first place? Guess I missed that?

I also find it odd that Soyon is supposedly this top-notch doctor, but her inexperienced 10 year old daughter one-upped her completely here.

I think this show is really cute and for how simple it is, very entertaining. Even though it's slow paced, i dont find myself getting bored at all. I'm also in agreement with the people who like the animation, I think it's something different and I think they're using it to set the mood. Right now it's a very relaxed and sweet atmosphere, the perfect childhood sorta setting. Very watercolorish, I think it would be nice if they sharpen the colors and make them more bold as the series progresses and times change to the war.

I almost dropped this 'cause of the boring first episode. But this one was so much better ! Erin's eyes are so cute and the animationstyle resembles some old kidseries *_____* Pretty nostalgic. And it was nice that Erin noticed the fish and flower thing before anyone else.

I can't drop this now, I really enjoyed this episode ! But maybe 50 episodes it a bit too much :0
And I agree, Soyoun is probably going to die and then Erin is going to be the greatest Touda doctor ever, nice !

I think it's weird that even though Soyon's supposed to be the great vet and all that, Erin keeps surpassing her.

And some things don't make a whole lot of sense like why they didn't notice the yagigoroshi in the water trough.

However, I like the animation style and I can see that this show has great potential, so I'll keep watching.

These two things bug me, too! The weird animation for the Touma rage just seems very out of place in the midst of what is otherwise fairly good animation. And I don't even know how I'm actually managing to distinguish between when the narrator's speaking versus when Soyon's speaking...

I third that. Erin seems to pick up on things much quicker than her mother. Maybe her mother has gotten lazy because she can typically just solve Touma problems with that weird whistle thing...

Well, I think Erin solved problem faster than Soyon because she had more informations, like she knew that Touda used to eat fish only and she was the one who found out about rapid spreading of capracide. Sure, it is strange that Erin was able to catch on earlier than Soyon, skilled doctor, but it seems kinda justified.

Other than that, pretty nice episode.

Wow that is twice that Erin has been saving her mother's behind.

I really think that her mother needs to stop depending so much on that whistle and maybe actually go out there and observe things for herself.

I wonder if that spear guy will become an important character later on? I feel like he could be, but hopefully I'll remember him if he does make an appearance later on.

Also, if Touda are supposed to be these all powerful beasts, why are they so delicate? Or rather, so temperamental, how can you go on to a battlefield with those things if old hay smells bad enough to them that they cower in a corner? Also, what if they go on a rampage on the battlefield? Do the riders have training in taming a Touda?

Which is why I'm surprised NHK will air an otaku-oriented show like Log Horizon.

How did they not notice the flowers earlier while getting the water for the Touma? I know Wadan is a moron but didn't Soyon say she got the same results too? That would mean that she didn't notice the flowers in the water either.

Erin is so keen on being a Touda doctor that her efforts shone through! She once again was able to perceive what was the problem and she pretty much solved it, saving the life of that Touda. Her mom now recognizes how earnest her dream is, and is up to teaching her, that's great!

That Wadan fellow though... Such unsightly behavior, since he can't say anything to Soyon, he harassed her daugther, and that's pretty low. He could try to be friendly, recognizing Soyon's knowledge and talent, and try to absorb some of it or something, but he's too busy being spiteful because she's clearly better at the job.

Apparently Mist people did something really horrible in the past

Seems really harsh village for Erin and her mom
I mean Soyon is trying her best, but if a Touda died it's her responsible only?
Asides from the one giving it water & food?
Wadan totally should be the one getting harsh treatments :P

Aww Erin is cute and smart child
I love her already xD

A fine episode. Kind of wacky how Erin absolutely outsmarted the adults including her own mother, which signals both how impressive Erin already is with her knowledge as a kid with some real potential to become an excellent Touda doctor in the future as well as signals how poor the adults actually were with their incompetence in this situation by not inspecting the flowers closer enough. The pacing was slow but worked out really nicely though for this episode and show so far. Has a natural flow to it.

Two inconsistancies:
1. A doctor who gets punished when a patient dies? Huh? It's one thing to get punished for a mistake, but lots of things are out of the doctors hands and if this was the rule there would be no living doctors

2. What did the dude try to feed his touda before? Wouldn't he have tried the fish first and while he was traveling on the road?

Why is this grown man picking fights with ten year olds? Can he not feel good about himself without scoffing at little girls? He's also 2 for 2 in terms of making situations worse by simply being around, and Erin's mother keeps being blamed for everything. Granted, the first time was out of negligence, and the second time was actually not his fault. Still, if Erin's mother weren't around, how would the village even function

I wasn’t confident in my comparison earlier enough to say it. but Erin now really reminds me of one of my favorite-ever live action television series: BBC’s Merlin. Merlin, a young wizard in a land where practicing magic will result in death, arrives at Camelot and somehow finds himself as Prince Arthur’s personal assistant. Merlin goes around solving mysteries and preventing disasters, coming up with witty solutions that nobody else can, all the while doing his absolute best to hide the fact that he is a wizard. The cast of characters are super endearing and really grow on you throughout the five seasons as the plot progresses. In my opinion, I can see quite a few similarities between the characters of Erin and Merlin. The two shows also have very similar atmospheres and interactions among side characters. Point being, if Erin continues to be as good as the first two episodes have been, I could see it becoming the best anime I’ve ever seen

Ultimately, through the first 2 episodes, I really love this show and can’t wait to watch more!
