It didn't took me long to realise that this was a visual novel! Clannad, Kanon, they're all the same boring crap - like they come straight from a 13yr/o boy's fantasy! I'm done with crap like that - sorry but not for me, thank you!

I'd advise that you wait a few more years. I wouldn't expect a 14 year old to get much of the intricacies of the story.

What the hell is Potato? My first reaction was "What is a new Pokémon doing in this show?", due to it repeating "Piko" over and over instead of barking. What a strange dog...

That's what I thought too haha. Hope that they don't show him too much.

Well, the episode was decent, but somehow they crammed too much in one episode, so I didn't like the start that much. The hero and heroine didn't leave a good impression yet. Yukito or what's his face is way too childish for his age and Harem Girl #1 abuses Gao too much.

The visuals didn't impress me either. Kanon looked way better, and it's like three years younger than Air.

I like the first episode, I was disappointed about how Yukito looks like, but he is a funny character, very similar to Tomoya and Yuuichi.
Nice start.

Pretty random for a first episode, but I guess the usual cast introduction was needed sooner or later.
The ending scene is what really started this for me.
I only have one question. Why is everyone a goofball in this town? :D They were fine though, except for Potato, who was pretty annoying to be honest :/

I started this anime because of Clannad (pretty obvious), and I'm going to watch both this and Kanon in the following weeks. I chose Air first because I was a bit less interested in it and I heard that most of the people liked Kanon more. I want to save the 'better' for later.
I hope I won't kill myself by the end with the amount of emotions and sadness these two will put me through D:

There doesn't seem to a whole lot to this, yet. I've heard that it's not as strong as Kanon and Clannad, so I'm not expecting much.

This. Although I started watching it because I needed something to heal my psyche after School Days(...) and this first episode actually served that purpose in a better way than I expected ^__^

I guess that's because of the warm, sincere randomness contained in Air. I can't comment further than that for now, but one thing is for sure - this episode actually went very well.

Finally decided to watch Air. I actually watched the first episode a LONG time ago, but decided to watch it again just in case.

Oh man at hearing Tomoko Kawakami as Misuzu almost got me tear eyed -_- May she rest in peace.

The atmosphere seemed nice as expected from KyoAni, but the first episode seemed very slow, even though a lot of OnoDai's harem was already introduced.

I liked the mother, she was cool. I'd like to have a drink with her.

I am expecting more from the series as it moves forward. But I know something's coming since all the KEY works start slow and get better as they go on (Except Angel Beats!)

This is great. I loved Kanon and Clannad/After Story. Even though I know this isn't as good as either of them, it has the same atmosphere/comedy and feeling.

Plus it looks awesome in 720p, the animation quality is very good.

Actually, from what I've seen it seems to be just as good as both of those shows you mentioned!

Just entered on Air's journey, and I'm quite glad I did it.
From Key adaptations I've only watched Clannad/AS, and this resemble it quite much on comedy and character design.. And its classic vibe..

I liked this episode, nice introduction and really want to see more..

GAOOOO! Hihihi, lol.
I found out that seiyuu Tomoko Kawakami (voice of Misuzu Kamio) died in 2011, at the age of 41!!!
I just turned 41 two hours ago and I feel so young, young enough to still watch Anime!!!
Rest in peace Mrs. Kawakami! I'll never forget you for all superb roles you did in your career! Thank you so much!!!

Every time Misuzu fell on her face, I died

I watched most of this show back in 2008, but never finished it for some reason. I enjoyed it a lot, and it was one of the first animes I watched that was outside of the old school Toonami / Adult Swim stuff. I'm looking forward to finishing it this time.

I've dabbled a little bit with the VN and kind of liked it. I only made it as far as drinking with Misuzu's mom. My only other VN experience has been a little bit of Higurashi and Fate/Stay Night and I think I enjoyed AIR most, so I'll probably play along, or after I finish the show

Put this off for a while. Hearing some of the BGM I've heard over the years through various means in the show it's actually from feels right. I'm excited for this.

I don't know if I'm too old for this anime or what. The mother just trust a complete stranger to take care of her daughter even though she knows that her daughter is still a child inside (or even worst than a child, because those children at the begining were more mature). Well, all that said I still intend to continue watching it.

The beginning of this show gives off a Clannad/Kanon vibe. It shall be good.

So, in the beginning - as well as throughout the show - we learn that Yukito is someone who thinks himself big/scary/interesting, but is actually not found very entertaining or scary by kids even. Once he meets our protagonist, Misuzu, he immediately thinks she wants money from him - I guess this is one of those "Everyone judges by their own standards" kind of things. However, the revelation's that the girl just wants to be friends. She is... lonely. Very much so, and very obviously. Her mother, who has a completely different personaity than the girl, almost easily agrees for Yukito to stay at their house, at her daughter's request.
In the end, Yukito is amazed and taken aback something by something Misuzu says and wonders if it's really her.

Notes:
- Yukito is offended when someone insults his puppet show that was taught to him by his late mother
- Kamio, Misuzu's mother, is a heavy drinker
- Misuzu wears a cross around her neck and is very clumsy and gullible; she likes dinosaurs
- The "Pico-Pico" dog - Potato - reminds me of the "Puhi-Puhi" boar from Clannad, and can be understood by Kano
- No, I don't think she's gonna need quadratic equations when she grows up

Kind of a stupid start? Who the hell takes home a random guy found on the street? The main girl seems to have some type of mental condition. I might be wrong but she gives off that vibe. Not that it's a bad thing, she also seems pretty bright.

This anime is so fucking sad. It's good but just imagine being in that guys situation. The anime luckily makes the depressing story seem a bit more fun.

Is there no place for the guy to get an actual job. Puppet shows would have worked back in the old days or if it was in a more modern place or city where he could work as a day care preformer which wouldn't be bad at all. They still have those puppet shows and people still love em.

But can't he see that the place he is in now won't get him much money if any at all. This is just sad to watch and the guy still tries to make money with it. But I guess that's the only option he has. Wait... can't he just become a farmer by buying some seeds. There seems to be lots of free land everywhere and he could make his own house, it wouldn't be to hard.

I was surprised when he actually accepted the girls offer for food AND went to her house to stay there but I understand that desperate situations call for desperate times.

Wow the mom really is lax and she just let him stay!!!!

The guy also doesn't seem to have any sense of embarrassment or shame like normal people do. He just does what he needs to do and he just doesn't give a shit and I like that about him.

I find it so interesting how Misuzu is so friendly and so different from other girls her age. Also how her mom is so chill with the fact that there's a stranger in her home? Lol.
Great start, really chill. Waiting for the plot to develop a bit.

maybe i'm just a little whore but this first episode was really good. the key artstyle has always been important to me, and i think kyoto animation does an amazing job at improving and translating the art-style. that ending, along with the music and the great animation, did well and helped me grow a deeper attachment to the characters. i will continue to watch ;3

I really liked it! The girls Yukito has met are all kinda weird, but I like the characters so far (also Potato is adorable!!). I've heard this gets really dramatic but this episode was pretty fast-paced and kinda made it seem like a comedy lol. Can't wait to see what happens next!!

Just like Misuzu, I also love dinosaurs!!!! :D

Sigh, just give it a rest.

Though for the episode itself, it's one random thing after another. This one having the least number of episodes out of any other Key series does helping in this cause. Though apart from that it's the same Kanon, Clannad feels. Opening too was nice.

It felt like the meeting of some of these characters was a bit unnatural, like they were forced into an encounter with the MC if that makes sense. It felt a bit too fast paced too.

Okay, this has a decent start, although the pacing and moving through one to other scene felt awkward, like, they feel so sudden with no space to process what's happening. That aside, the soundtrack is awesome so far and animation is what one'd expect from KyoAni.
