I don't get it... why weren't the people who set the bombs on Gundam using their machine-gun-mobiles to shoot the bombs while Amuro was trying to take them off? And if Zeon has such powerful explosives (enough to tear the gundam's shield in half with one explosion), why aren't they using them in missiles and such?

Not a bad episode other than that. Looks like Amuro has a crush on Matilda-san and Frau Bow is already jealous. Not really sure what Matilda was trying to imply in her conversation, though. Why would the Federation give Bright-san the death penalty?

They were going to give Bright-San the death penalty for commanding White Base and the Gundam when he wasn't supposed to. At least thats what I got of it, not to mention when they were taken into custody he broke out with the pilots. It may have saved everyone's life but it was still illegal. Thats why Revil helped him out since he knew it was the best thing to do at the time.

Amuro's in LOVE

Having the guts to personally remove every bomb was very admirable on Amuro's part. My feelings toward him have so far ranged from indifference to mild disapproval, but he did something amazing this episode. The Zeon soldiers who planted the bombs were impressed themselves.

This.

Anyway, I guess this was excised from the movies as I don't remember this at all. I"m glad I picked the series back up as I quite enjoyed this episode. Those Zeon soldiers were pretty chill and it was cool to see Amuro do something so cool and I really liked how the others of White Base helped him in the end. He would have been fucked otherwise.

Ehh I didn't really like this episode. The way the soldiers were able to get the bombs on Gundam seemed really hokey, and Amuro was just doing nothing whatsoever lol

Because the area Amuro took the Gundam to was out in the open as opposed to the forest they were in previously. The men would've been sighted fromn a distance and slaughtered by Gundam and/or White Base.

And if Zeon has such powerful explosives (enough to tear the gundam's shield in half with one explosion), why aren't they using them in missiles and such?

That's... a good question. Maybe the explosives are too volatile to be shot. Or maybe it has something to do with Minovsky particles, that seems to be their way of explaining away things xD

This is definitely a filler episode but not bad nonetheless. Still I'm wondering something. Ever since they came down to Earth, the White Base has been trying to reach Federation airspace. Suppose they have to fly an entire continent for that, it takes a current-day commercial airliner abour 9 hours at most. So why does the White Base take several days¿ It makes no sense to me.

Another ace episode :D

Amuro seems to use all the chance he get just to see and talk to Matilda-san XD

He obviously has the hots for her! I don't blame her!

Poor Frau Bow though :(

She's obviously in love with Amuro.

And seriously how the hell did these guys managed to plan all these bombs?? Amuro got careless as hell.

Man diffusing a bomb can be pretty intense, especially if the bomb can explode any minute.

Fauw bow getting restless. The crew should have at least went on standby in case the bombs were planted on obscure locations.

Damn Zeon soldiers!!

At least everyone is safe, can't wait for the next episode!!!

Awful. First of all it was way too fucking convenient that the soldiers didn't do nothing while Amuro was defusing the bombs and the bombs themselves seem to be way too easy to defuse (not saying that the second thing is unrealistic though)

And how convenient was it that for no real reason they set timer to 30 MINUTES.

Apparently sniper rifles don't exist in this future.

+Like said those bombs seem to be way fucking stronger than the missiles that we have seen which kinda makes almost all the Zeon plans look really fucking dumb.

Also there was really good opportunity to at least kill one of the "heroes" off but they didn't take it.

Episode which clarifies some still obscure points, and other known who still are confirmed, including the fact that Amuro is still an inexperienced rider and that is thrown headlong into conflict without considering the consequences. The red girl apparently keen to Amuro, is not so far-fetched hypothesis. Overall, it is a bit slow, but not a bad episode.

While the fact the Zeon soldiers had to shoot the bombs was pretty ridiculous, this was the most intense episode yet. Also, both the Zeon and Federation Soldiers really outdid themselves.

Besides the fact that the Zeon soldiers could have easily been able to kill Amuro and destroy the Gundam, this was probably one of my favorites, i loved how it was different from the episodes so far, so it was a nice change of pace.

Now, for the infamous episode 15.

Not bad for a filler episode. Mostly for Zeon soldiers how seemed more interested in watching Amuro Ray undo there work than trying to stop him.

Love the part were they disguise themselves as locals just to congratulate him.

Given how this is a story about gritty warfare, the Earth Federation turn out to be grade-A assholes to Bright and the White Base by using them as guinea pigs for data collection.

As for the Zeon deserters, they're gonna die next couple of episodes. It's Tomino, so everyone is gonna die.

Nah, what I meant is that his original plan for the story was that everyone will die, but he kept going with the series anyway.

But I also meant that almost everyone will die in his story. I just left that out by accident.

There was certainly a lot of suspense while Amuro was removing the bombs off the Gundam. Glad to see that he was successful.

I hope Amuro doesn't let his obsession with Matilda go to his head. She's a little too old for him, lol.

This episode was pretty weird and kind of silly, but I liked how it showed the Zeon pilots making a show of Amuro's plight with the bombs. It's akin to Big Black's song "Kerosene", a group of people in a bad emotional state with nothing to do causing trouble. The enemy basically wanted Amuro to succeed as they were sick of just sitting around. They're basically the viewers of the actual show.

Yeah, that was a great scene. I thought the same about the shot of the White Base taking off in the last episode.

Probably the weakest episode so far even though it had good intentions.

I think the main problem was putting a timer on the bombs and that our protagonists have just found and removed all the bombs in time. Fortunately, this served to deepen relations between Amuro and the rest of the crew. But they could have done it in a better way. 3/5

Case aside, I found it quite funny when the bombs were put on the Gundam, they looked like mosquitoes sucking blood hahaha.

This is a good time to speak about my expectations when it comes to plot armor. To initially give the cast such great equipment is a good excuse for why they can take so much damage when the enemies can fight in groups and go down in masses. However, I am aware that Tomino is known for killing main characters; or so I think. With this in mind, the only character on White Base I have confidence in being invincible is Amuro. This creates the odd scenario where him defusing bombs is, fun, but stress free, meanwhile if someone else, say Kai, ended up in a scuffle, I grit my teeth and expect this may be the end of him.

Tl;dr I fear for everyone's life except for Amuro.

That said, it didn't make this episode any less engaging. I enjoyed it!! The patrol of Zeon troops just wanting to go home and even respecting their enemy was a nice antagonistic force. They were easy to like which serves the themes. The action and teamwork felt real good too.

A small point, but one of my favorite parts is the final shot of the gang resting on the mobile suit. It was a huge sense of scale and an odd sense of comfort as everyone got some breath next to their huge mech. A memorable shot for sure.

Lastly, I just wanted to say that in the beginning I said that Hayato and Mirai felt like the only characters who didn't leave a strong impression but they have definitely grown on me. Mirai and Bright absolutely play the mother and father of the crew which helps her a lot.

I kind of hated how flippant the soldiers were. They’re all smiling and laughing like they don’t really care if the bombs go off or not. Apparently they’re deserters or something anyways now? That still doesn’t explain why they would risk their lives setting bombs on Gundam and then just kick back and relax without a care in the world.

Probably my least favorite episode yet, although I liked everyone rushing out to help Amuro and risking their lives.

(P.S.) Apparently there is a 1 volume manga called Iron Mustang that explains what happened to the Zeon soldiers who planted the bombs after they drove away from White Base.

Love how Amuro is super willing to go into battle when Matilda is in danger, lmao. He wasn't as willing to save the whole White Base.

The bomb thing was kinda dumb. Bombs with set timers? They can't even change it to like 5 or 10 minutes? Weird. Amuro being willing to bet his own life to defuse those bombs seemed kind of out of character too. The Zeon soldier seemed pretty chill though. Almost like a game they played to see if those bombs would go off or not.

Not an amazing episode overall, but it wasn't boring at least.

Amuro's massive crush on Matilda making Fraw jealous aww. The bomb situation got pretty intense. I think Amuro feels responsible for Gundam and also putting it in that situation which is why he volunteered to remove them. He's also a tech wiz so feels confident. Kai is really starting to show his brass even though I'm still on the fence about him as a character.

Amuro's lucky Zeon doesn't have any snipers. I can handwave the bombs not being remote detonated because of particle bullshit, but they could've tried some hit and run strategies. Though, the Zeons didn't seem too pressed, so it makes some sense. I always figured Amuro for a milf hunter

Strange of that Zeon crew to just risk their lives wholesale on planting the bombs and then sitting back relaxing when they had some time before White Base showed up to shoot the bombs themselves. I guess they did try, i.e. with the shield, but they ran out of time that quickly?
