Illustrations in light novels do help with the visualization I have, but what I have most difficulty in doing is visualizing the background around the characters, really. So it would be like a void with a number of characters speaking. If the narration keeps up with the scenery, vividly that is, it will be included amongst the void for a time, then vanish. So I find myself being strained, really.

Interesting. Well, aphantasia doesn't entirely render you unable to imagine things. You have other senses that can be stimulated other than sight. You can imagine with your sense of touch, sense of taste, sense of smell and sense of hearing. Like Eroge, you get aroused for a reason beside what you see. I guess stuff like VNs are convenient.

Like, now? No, I haven't yet touched upon Monogatari's light novel.

What you say is true about light novel adaptations. Adaptations give the story a new sense of life unlike what text can provide. You can immerse yourself easily into the world, but the same can be said for the former. Novels do provide a more in-depth experience.

Sometimes, my mind drifts when I'm reading and not focusing. I don't know if it's action sequences that make me like this, but it impedes my imaginations.
