First of all what the fuck is this upvote/downvote thing? People don't even use it properly, they'll downvote you just because you said you didn't like a popular Anime.

Secondly, there's 4.5m members on r/anime and yet I'd swear it's just the same 20 accounts that are actually active. Most of these accounts are pretentious veteran weebs who seem to hate any new show.

Thirdly, what the obsession with CGDCT anime? Seen a thread calling Healer Girl Anime of the Year and all the replies were agreeing, like wtf? I get people have the right to their own opinion but damn, there's times when you're opinion is just dumb.

your first mistake was going to r/anime
.
.
.
and your second was that you came here to whine about it.

edit: just enjoy what you do and don't what you don't, if you wanna discuss something you first have to make sure you have the capacity for that discussion.

Isn't this exactly the same situation on MAL?

MAL doesn't have the dumb upvote/downvote thing, which allows users to dismiss someone's opinion just because they don't agree with it. Not saying MAL is perfect but it's better place to discuss.

i don't know what's preventing me from checking out reddit. the only time i visit reddit is for the specific game subreddit if i'm playing that particular game to read other gamer's opinion or tips. it's like a washing machine where y'all end up having a hive mind.

youtube will personally censor / flag everyone who speaks random taboo till the only one left making comments are bots.

Reddit is a horrible site by design, promoting group-thinking is just a platform to data-driven tactics and hivemind spreading. Redditors are gullible beings that think that they are smarter than the average Joe because they don't use Instagram and because of the 1% of Redditors are going to obviously be educated, but if the site tells them to be xenophobic they will be, guaranteed

Well, add another mistake on your page for going to MAL trying to discuss something as petty as this.

Also, Healer Girl is THE BEST ANIME this year don't @ me.

I wasted all my time in rewatching to the point of my rewatch total is higher than my overall anime total lmao

i would also say it is better to discuss in anime-specific subreddits compared to the larger communities. Outside of that, it gets quite toxic

In general, i find that the app's strongest suit is the ability to discuss niche topics with a handful of ppl. oh, and asking questions as well. ive gotten some useful answers in the past by lurking and searching in some communities

Wait, you mean people have different taste in anime? I am shocked! Also, while i wouldn't consider it AOY, Healer Girl was definitely enjoyable for me. Of course, if you only watch the stereotypical shounen and need fan service and/or gore, then I can see why you wouldn't find it interesting. It's a slice of life musical show, both genres which are quite unpopular on MAL. Healer Girl falls under "iyashikei", as should be obvious by its name.

I mean, this is true for pretty much all social media site, including MAL.
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

I mean about reddit you're not wrong and I say this as a Reddit addict. Basically if it sounds fancy enough, and especially if it's calling something fake it gets voted up really fast.

It is true for every human because Redditors are humans, the implication that I tried to do is that the site actively promotes the spreading of hiveminds and delusion, so the site is terrible in large communities where the echo chamber exist.
When I go to Instagram or Twitter I just look for my mutuals and I assume that everyone is dumb because I have a profile of them, young people assume that everyone is dumb because most people just hold their values, they share their opinions and the opinion is just backed by the opinion, you need ""influencers"" to sway them. People are less aware of how dumb Reddit is and how prone to radicalization you are if you tumble into an apparently inoffensive subreddit, because you are constantly switching between the factual information and misguiding narratives, with false stuff being backed by anonymous upvotes that give them validation

True, reddit has the karma system which promotes classism. It not really worth to waste ur time to build up shallow thing like a online image (positive karma point) just to live through internet classism to have certain level of freedom in expressing ur opinion which may not resonate with the crowd

Reddit's a circlejerk, 4chan unironically offers far better discussion of anime than that hellhole
4chan hates moeshit.
4chan hates the modern sissy protagonists.
4chan loves gigachad protags, ecchi and mecha.
Also quite possibly the only place where older anime are treated with equal respect as the newer ones.
And before anyone cries "racist site!" that's just one board, /pol/, which seems less serious and more of a counterreaction to the current mainstream media. But it's a cesspool, I agree. Still less of a cesspool than Leddit.

I saw a few episodes and Healer Girl looked like a legit good anime. Also every anime has a section of big fans calling it AOTY. Why does this one in specific bother you, I wonder.

Anyway, isn't it a bit hypocritical of you to claim that Reddit doesn't accept diverging opinions and then saying this?

It seems that so many subreddits are like this. It'd be easy to let it slide because like others said it's the same on a lot of websites, that's just how it is, but the thing is that reddit is supposed to be "the front page of the internet". It just doesn't add up.

It's reddit. A civil conversation is the last thing you should hope for over there.

Well MAL isn't that any different. If you make a thread talking about how a popular show isn't as good as people make it out to be and, god forbid, being reasonable with sounding points, too, then they will write a short but destructive reply: stop making hate thread.

What does this last point matter? What do you think is the anime of the year? If your response is either Spy x Family or Kaguya-sama, just get out with that dumb opinion.

idc with Upvote/Downvote in Reddit, it doesn't matter to me.

Healer Girls is one of underated show which deserve more attention since their songs are always so good and refreshing.

Reddit is quite better for me because i see my favorites get more attention there than here.
