| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Not going to lie, I think this is my favorite OP theme song for the Spring season so far. It uses orchestrial music with a dark tune and stylish artwork. They found a solid VA for Kate imo. She's such a mysterious character even from this first episode. Emilyko has more of a cheerful personality that is relatable. Even as a living doll, many of her character behavior looks human. I'm actually impressed by this premiere. |

| An intriguing start, almost gave me The Promised Neverland feels (though it's not), not just because it's CloverWorks. Shadows and Living Dolls, a fascinating master-servant relationship between the dark shadow Kate and clumsy-cum-wonky Emilyko. From doing housework to making sure that Kate is satisfied with Emilyko's work, Kate is one fine master who doesn't get angry at Emilyko even for the seemingly trivial of works. And before you ask, this is NOT Yuri. A pretty good adaptation of the manga, but I'm worried for pacing issues since the manga chapters are literally short romps. |

| As a first episode, I was expecting it to be rather creepy, but the first episode was actually kind cute honestly. I love the art style too. |
| Both OP and ED are really good. Emilyko is really cute. Loved the first episode ngl. The whole dark tone of the show makes me wanna watch this show more. It was kinda creepy but cute at the same time. The art style is really great as well. Will love to see more of this show. Great start. Btw, Cloverworks back at it again. Hope they nail it with this one. |

| Yay finally, my most anticipated Spring anime is here. Was thinking I might not adjust to these shadows for bodies, but I think Emilyko's mere presence made that creepy feeling go away haha. So it seems like the other dolls aren't having it as well as Emilyko is. Interesting. Wonder where they'll go with that. Besides that, this is pretty wholesome. Love Emilyko already, and can definitely appreciate the VA for Kate. Great OP sequence, even moreeee so the ED. Love ReoNa, and can't imagine what the full version is like; gonna check it out soon. Also pretty neat animation, and interesting background music used here and there. Hoping Cloverworks can redeem themselves for the massacre last season lol. Saturdays got even better. |
| Great episode. The pacing is good. They adapt the SOL moments nicely. This episode focuses on Emilyko and Kate. The direction in this episode is superb. The art and animation is great too, they depicting the same as the manga. The OP is instrumental which is unique this season, moreso my favorite so far. And the ED is creepy with powerful vocals of Reona elevated the song perfectly and its visuals are stunning |

| Beautiful premise, I love the concept of this anime. Artstyle/character designs are beautiful. Lots of fluff in this episode. Both Kate and Emilico are precious, they are so adorable. I wonder why they are like that, the shadows I mean. Looks like it has something to do with their past but I hope someday they get their faces. Op was pretty cool but holy the ED was freaking amazing. |

| I certainly didn't expect this lighthearted atmosphere, imagined this to be a little bit more "creepy" and uncomfortable. But overall I had a good time and looking forward to the next episodes. Also that ending... HOLY SHIT it's good. |

| Well as expected of Cloverworks, at least it looks great, though I have no idea where this is going. Is this going to be a psychological thriller or something closer to a drama? |

| I love the manga, and it's lovely seeing it animated. It does start off more slice of life, but the background is very dark. |
| Man this setting is so original that it managed to carry the entire episode in my opinion. Now just imagine how good it'll be with an actual plot, even though there's not really any signs of one yet. P.S the ED has to be one of the best of the season :P |
| The plot is slow burn. I can't wait for later episodes. I highly recommend the manga too. It's in full colour, and is up to chapter 94. |

| I always search for Seinen in Seasonal Shows... and this was the only one that intrigued me. It seems full of mystery, politics, drama, suffering. Always love these stuff,, good production value by Clover works,, Nice OP and ED visuals. |
| I was going to read the manga, but I waited for the adaptation and I have to say that I loved it <3 Whatt, really liked this ED theme Σ(O_O) |

| Nahhh why ReoNa snap on the ED like that wtffff. This one of the more original shows I’ve seen. Kinda had a horror vibe like Yakuneba but also feels like Gosick. Very good first episode, can’t wait to see where this goes from here. Lots of potential. |

| Thoroughly enjoyed it. Was straight up expecting Shiki vibes when I first watched the show but looks like we're good for now. Love the ED and love Reona. Clover and A-1 is my dream team so I know the animation is going to be great. Looking forward to it! |

| oh shet some 400iq plays right there, don't need to spend time animating character faces if you just blacken them out woah but anywho the actual ep itself.....was boring as fuk lmao. I mean, the premise is cool and honestly seems like it can work wonders as a horror, but most of this ep felt like some cgdct soL lol (plus blondie is annoying as hell ngl). Though it is only 1st ep, and the ED hints that there's gonna be more than meets the eye so hoping the eerie vibes turn up to 11 or it could just be TPN 2.0 with horror concept + annoying FL who knows though after last season, seeing Cloverworks doing a manga adaptation is PTSD inducing kek |

| So how dark does this show gets Last thing I enjoyed being "dark" was Shiki and didn't like Neverland that much, should I bail out? since the genre isn't my cup of tea, I honestly watched it because the girl is super cute and assumed it was just cgdct. |

| It's very disappointing when it comes to visuals. I'd expect something distinct from a series about living shadows emanating sooth. The whole time I was thinking about how much better this show would be looking like Casshern or Ergo Proxy. It's just asking for a proper atmosphere but instead is looking so run of the mill. |

| Today has been a really good day for anime, I'm really enjoying all these series so far, but I think Shadows House was the best Emilico is so damn cuteeeeee, no human should be able to be that cute The ED was really good too. I think it's safe to say Cloverworks has successfully bounced back from their horrid Winter 2021 |

I'm not sure why you're pushing baseless expectations onto this show while latching onto minor key words like "soot". Perhaps you should've paid attention to the tags before you get into a series, because it's pretty evident that this isn't anything remotely close to the shows you mentioned- so why should it adhere to their aesthetics? Sure, you like those artstyles, but they certainly don't suit this anime with its story and themes. This anime's artstyle is plenty unique as it stands, just because it's drawn in a cutesy style (and deliberately so) doesn't mean it's "run-of-the-mill". Case in point, look at the detail in the background in any given shot , or the various ways soot sticks, rises, and falls. |

| Looks like it will be interesting. The premise is pretty unique and there should be some room for interpretation regarding the shadows, the dolls, and the world. I find Emilico to be a little annoying, though. Hopefully that changes later. |
| So at first it was confusing for me the way she spoke about herself in third person and i wasn't sure if both the lady in white and red are one and the same person (Kate), but other than that i loved it! The vibe is immaculate, the music fits so well and the ed and op are one of my favorites from this season, also it's perfectly dark and light at the same time and I'm living for it! |
