wholesome and meaningful romcom that touches deep important topics in every kind of relationship
report Recommended by TayaTuk
-Both light hearted -Both protagonists are fun to watch -Easy to consume -Both will make you shudder from the love >.<
report Recommended by Mashu35mm
In both anime the story is focused on the dating part of the relationships instead of the chasing part. Both very wholesome and the characters are kinda similar
report Recommended by Miiuco
The main girl's secret life is revealed to the main boy, as they develop a relationship over time. Other relationships around them develop between the supporting cast, while they each deal with varying levels of trauma. Said supporting cast is very lively, balancing the sad vibes with their happiness.

Both animes works with the formation of couples. The most interesting thing about he two works is the characters development as love interests. Although, I would say that Tsurezure Children is linear in that field because, basically, all the couples are already quite engaging for a quicker romance so, the development doesn't enrich much as the counter part. Alas, Tsurezure has a bigger staff and the episodes are shorter compared to Horimiya, so, the fast romance is quite fair (it doesn't mean that it's bad... you certainly will have a favorite one between all of them). Going back to Hori-san to Miyamura-kun; potentially, it does  read more

Its kind of amazing how similar the female leads in these shows are. Both are hardworking A+ students that tend to take on more work than they can handle. Both have difficult home lives mostly due to their fathers, and both have secret sides to them that they don't want their fellow students to know about. As result of their extra extracurricular burdens, they both end up developing relationships with guys from their school they otherwise wouldn't have become close with. Maid Sama is more definitely more "shojo", while I don't think Horimiya really targets one sex over another. But regardless I really like both  read more

Both wholesome romcoms about a couple who have different personalities, a popular girl and a shy, reserved boy. They learn about each other's secrets and befriend quickly which will then turn into a romance.
report Recommended by flizzy
Sasaki to Miyano has a similar vibe to Horimiya they have the same high school romance theme The nakadanshi in both anime are quite strong, so I get the impression of a strong friendship here which is presented with a good storytelling and beautiful directing
report Recommended by arizkykun
Both have the young high school love theme where the female lead is a bit cold to the main male lead but eventually they have a cute relationship ship. both are soft high school romcoms.
report Recommended by ShionU27
Both are beautiful romance series that focuses on a somewhat mismatched couple between a more introverted male and a more outgoing female, with continued focus on the supporting casts surrounding the lead couple.
report Recommended by RiverSorcerer
Same romcom about two complete opposites where one is an oddball and the other is a normie.
report Recommended by JiangHaoyi1979
The overall vibe of both shows are similar: pretty animation/art style, a high school setting, focuses on side characters a lot and has a very cute main couple. I think Horimiya has a bit more drama and heavier scenes, but overall but are pretty similar.
report Recommended by Nikki-Sapphire
They are both about the hidden nature of their personalities and going forward in the story how they understand the other person and their own feelings.
report Recommended by Astroray
- Similar gloomy MC - Similar highschool setting
report Recommended by JACKSIMMELHAG
for some reason, I kinda feel the same taste between them troubled Male MC, strong female Lead
report Recommended by einzburg
Both are pretty very lighthearted romance stories that can be finished within in a day or so.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Initially the female lead approaches the male lead. Akane and Hori's personalities are quite similar in a way where they are bright, outgoing, and caring. It also has the same level of humor and romance; both are fluffy and relaxing.
report Recommended by localareanetwork
Both are very similar because the MC changes resulting from the relationship he is in and overall grows his character by the end of the anime.
report Recommended by involiK
High school romance. Though, Kaguya Sama focuses more on the comedy, horimiya on the other hand, focuses on the character development.
report Recommended by sajia_afrin_
the series took place in a high school. slow pace but heartwarming moments will make you to watch next episodes.
report Recommended by Subhartha17
Despite the fact that one show is open shoujo and the other is just shoujo-ish shonen, both shows are good SoL representations of teenage relationships and the problems that can arise from them. While Kimi ni Todoke focuses on the problems of young girls' socialization, Horimiya explores this problem from the male side and also adds a study on the problem of misunderstanding between teenagers.
report Recommended by RobertBobert
Both are non-dramatic slice of life anime with actual romantic relationships. Tsuki ga Kirei is not a comedy anime like Horimiya is, but if you enjoyed observing the relationships and their development you will definitely enjoy Tsuki ga Kirei as well.
report Recommended by GanSan
I have no idea how people did not recommend this. The genre is basically identical and focuses almost right away on the relationship. Has a minor "supernatural"-ish twist in it. I immensely enjoyed it. Don't sleep on this one.
report Recommended by torguish
similar cute high school romance good characters similar small good friend group btw i think the lovely complex manga is better than its anime
report Recommended by qbuj
Assimilation. ReLife and Horimiya both follow two individuals who seem to have been rejected out of their class territory due to their quiet presences, though in engaging with the correct people, they are able to make a turn for the better in their lives. ReLife does this with Hishiro joining Kaizaki and his friends in order to improve her social life, regardless of any negative stigma around her. Horimiya does this with Hori and Miyamura having an unexpected meeting, which enables them to look past superficial qualities and discover one within. Both are good rom-com, sharing the same amounts of drama too.
report Recommended by NextUniverse
Both series have good ships, both couples start getting close in a similar fashion. The only difference is that Horimiya, the ship sets sail much earlier in comparison to Clannad, and ofc their stories are not exactly the same. These are good series if you're looking for a romance, slice of life that doesnt unnecessarily play around and tease you for no reason.
report Recommended by 08PhanAnime07
The animation style, the feel when watching these shows was nice, warm and relaxing. Really enjoyable. There were down and comical moments too.
report Recommended by yoMachiyo
If you enjoyed Romantic Killer, chances are you'll also love Horimiya because both series offer a level of quality above the average for romance anime. They feature charismatic characters who are gradually and well-developed throughout the story. While Romantic Killer leans more towards comedy, both shows maintain an exceptional standard of quality in their respective genres.
report Recommended by Joceclayson
Both have a pretty good animation and the characters are similar, also both are really good animes of romance
report Recommended by biachinin
If you enjoyed Chuunibyou purely because of its romance factor, how the main couple plays around and spends time together, then perhaps Horimiya could fill out that same void that was left upon finishing Chuunibyou. The character focus in Horimiya is a lot more fickle and shifty, but the little moments make it altogether that more precious, from my own subjective standpoint, that is. If this recommendation gets you to try Horimiya out, tell them yzhriz sent you! Enjoy! (plus the OP and ED for Horimiya absolutely SLAPS so that's an added bonus)
report Recommended by yzhriz
Both are fluffy and cute lighthearted at times romance stories.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
A romance slice of life show. Deals with topic of daily life, work and school. The only difference is if the pursuer in Koikimo is the man, the pursuer in Horimiya is the woman.
report Recommended by TheStranger234
The two are able to wonderfully portray the awkwardness and pains of growing up in Teenage or you can say Young Adult. Both Tohru(Fruba) and Kyouko(Horimiya) share similar aspects in which they both become caretakers to a family. The character development and mix of romance and comedy also greatly resembles that present in Fruits Basket. Definitely recommended if you are looking for shows which provide the same emotional vulnerability wrapped in a slice-of-life setting, look no further.
report Recommended by Yuki_004
Both are very wholesome feel good romance stories with a pretty optimistic female lead in it as well too.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
It is not that 3-gatsu is a Romance Comedy, but there is just something about the mood that is similar. Both Kiriyama from 3-gatsu and Miyamura from Horimiya had a history of being alone. We see character development in both where they grow out of their bubbles and find people who care. There is just a warm and wholesome feeling in both animes.
report Recommended by MetaChampion9
Both are really cute romance animes that will brighten up someone's day
report Recommended by Shreyansh_25
Both stories follow highschoolers and their romantic endeavors, in particular development and progression of couples relationship.
report Recommended by rando_passing_by
In both series you get to see actual relationship and both have pretty cute characters. Momokuri is bit on the comedy side while Horimiya has more progressing.
report Recommended by QUIL1TY
> beautiful female lead > Both the male lead are shy, reserved. > SHY x POPULAR romancee
report Recommended by seyerino12
Cute highschool romances and journeys, There's barely any largescale, romantic drama. Really nice slice of lifes and I find that both are wholesome. Both MCs bring the best out of eachother. Only difference is Horimiya does progress on the romance plot more, but that's to be expected since Skip is a SOL before a highschool romance.
report Recommended by k3woru
Both rom-coms are super toxic and use that as their comedy, whether viewers like to admit it or not. Both have 'messy' romance. Messy romance is definitely not for everyone, but it certainly has an appeal amongst those who do like it.
report Recommended by Space_Boyfriend
Both male leads are attractive, misunderstood, gentle delinquents, with alternative styles.
report Recommended by Fayere
both shows talks about an MC who meets another MC that looks boring but actually intresting
report Recommended by ssjsuperman
Easy to digest, especially to people who are just starting to get into anime.
report Recommended by Nokachishiki
same vibe! 1010 would recommend tho
report Recommended by Barelyink
Both are stories that are built completely around unique colourful characters. As the story progresses in both, you see how the cast changes and adapts to the situations they find themselves in.
report Recommended by EvilEyeIsHere
Both are very good romcoms
report Recommended by OshiNoPeakLover
Severely underrated Kokoro Connect is one of the best romance anime of all time. Kokoro means heart in japanese, thats all you need to know lol With its powerful friendships put to the test due to mysterious supernatural powers, this show is not only romance but much more than that!
report Recommended by BlastMadness
Both have popular girl - unpopular boy love story and have brilliant side characters and their own stories are well written too .
report Recommended by satyamkumar4005
Love Is War is also a fun Romance anime which has good pacing and wholesome moments which are also realistic
report Recommended by SpicyCurryMan
I know it's not what you would expect but I find that everyone that like Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou also enjoyed the fun romcom that is Horimiya. I hope you enjoy my recommendation
report Recommended by Nightmare3471
even though horimiya is way funnier and happier but i feel the both stories share some similarities.
report Recommended by charveei
Kaguya Sama and Horimiya share some similarities such as a focus on romance, a high school setting, character development, humor, and emotionally impactful moments.
report Recommended by daijoubuxd
The character interactions and relationships are similar. The vibe of the school environment is the same: relaxed, present without taking over the plot, and suits the characters. Both plots are wrapped up from beginning to end, contained within one season.
report Recommended by Samuraya86
This applies to all of the honeywork's series, but both are the very typical shoujo ,romcom, school life animes. Theyre both very cheerful, fun and optimistic show. Both the main characters of both shows are very strong personality and forward, and they show their lives about how their process with the guys they like and their friends around them. Cant go wrong, both great animes
report Recommended by iNinjeek
If you like School and Romance anime, this might be one of your options. Overall, they are pretty similar, although if you prefer Comedy then Horimiya is better, but if you like Drama, Just Because! would do it. The drawing in each series are very good, too. Plot wise, both have a very good story.
report Recommended by dolq
-Both meet under a weird circumstance -One has a dark past which the other helps with -Same casual vibe with a sprinkle of drama
report Recommended by bruh_t1me
Though cross game, mainly focuses on baseball, it has good romance. So, if you watched it because you like shoujo or romcom animes, you will like horimiya.
report Recommended by sajia_afrin_
Both anime -have a focus on romance. -are set in a high school. -are about a 'serious' relationship. -have sex. -have a couple, that is not perfect. -consist characters who have to face rejections, bully and discrimination. -are funny and enjoyable.
report Recommended by Kuracchi
If you loved the sweet romance and relationship antics of Horimiya, you'll love My Love Story!! Super wholesome!
report Recommended by capybaramars
Romantic comedies often use drawn out conflict or long unresolved sexual tension to drive narrative. Sometimes you want conflicts and tensions to be resolved quickly. You want to enjoy a couple getting together and living their lives. Koitabi: True Tours Nanto is a series of shorts with these type of narratives and Horimiya is a full series that keeps your attention without needing melodrama.
report Recommended by lancelot200
Both Anime and K-Anime shows us the start build-up of the romance, yet leaves us on a cliff hanger between the relationships in the shows.
report Recommended by Potato_Teresa
Its similar in the way that it has the high school setting and romance. The romance between all the characters in the show are heart warming but the main protagonist and her partner's relationship is slow burning and has great development!
report Recommended by AThirstyFanGirl
The level of romance is really good. if you guys like romance and comedy watch this. Both have school scenes Both have comedy scenes.
report Recommended by Menma_wiz_
Both stories revolve around a pair of high school students falling in love with each other, and around their close friends. Both focus on the emotional development, rather than action or drama.
report Recommended by zioming
While the characters and the setting of the animes are totally different, the love that is developing feels pretty similar, so overall I believe if you liked one, you would also like the other.
report Recommended by Idundunno
Both focus on a outcast mc being friends with someone he did not expect to be friends with as well as him warming up and being friends with other people as well too and also a cute stylish female mc as well too.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Similar Pacing Similar vibes just from another generation of anime Horimiya is much more easy going though
report Recommended by kimkotsu_
Not enough Hori in your life? Let me introduce you to Saki Saki...
report Recommended by blackhaulmike
Cutesy anime. MC in both gets teased by the main love interest, which happens to be the popular girl everyone wants, and yet goes for the boring looking bland guy. Both animes are a great school slice of life; as well as have a focus on the background characters to add a sense of reality and depth.
report Recommended by Abstract_Creator
Similar slice-of-life about high-school friends, with similar comedic elements. They are both based on manga published in the same magazine. However, Horimiya has more romance.
report Recommended by TotoroTheGreat
Both are deep coming of age stories where the character heal over time. They address isolation, social anxiety, and feeling different or unworthy. The characters find personal connections over-time and their places in the world. A Silent Voice addresses bullying, redemption, and discrimination against disabilities in depth. If you like one you'll like the other.
report Recommended by Floral_soap
Both animes are good romantic comedy animes. The genre is the same. Kamisama kiss provides you a romance between a yokai and a human girl. And horimiya provides a romance between two high school students.
report Recommended by sajia_afrin_
High school romance. Though, horimiya doesn't have any vampires involved
report Recommended by sajia_afrin_
Small children. Must protect. Cute chemistry of kuudere/tsundere and a quietish character. Slice of life
report Recommended by Kaguyachinchin
Classic romcom animes. Though there is no chasing game involved in horimiya.
report Recommended by sajia_afrin_
High school romance. If you are looking for romance anime with less misunderstanding between the leads, both are good.
report Recommended by sajia_afrin_
The couple is formed in the first episode >main character is intelligent >Both have characters with secrets that they are trying to hide > this is harem anime(oreshura),horimiya is more on the couple.
report Recommended by asinime
IT IS NOT ROMANCE BUT STILL COMEDY > RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT (LOVE+FRIENDSHIP (HORIMIYA)/ FRIENDSHIP(HANDA-KUN)) > both have a similar but UNIQUE personality > boy is kind of isolated YOU WILL ENJOY TILL END.
report Recommended by asinime
in both anime > couple Both are sweet romance anime > care about others secrets > romance overlord
report Recommended by asinime
High School romance. Though, marmalade boy has love triangles & misunderstandings, horimiya on the other hand is just a heartwarming romance anime with no misunderstandings or love triangles.
report Recommended by sajia_afrin_
These are two of my favorite romance anime, deeper than a lot of other ones, explore different types of relationships and love. Unlike others the end of the show isn't when the characters confess and get together but instead this happens early on so the rest of the show focuses on how the relationship grows and changes.
