Synopsis

Mafia is rife in America where assassinations are a regular occurrence on the streets. Inferno, a mysterious company, is behind most of these dealings through the use of their near-invincible human weapon, "Phantom."

One day, a Japanese tourist accidentally witnesses Phantom’s latest murder. Desperate to escape, the tourist hides in a secluded building. However, Phantom, revealed to be a young woman named Ein, and the leader of Inferno ‘Scythe Master’ captures the tourist and brainwashes him.

Given the name ’Zwei’, this once peaceful tourist is now a puppet of Inferno with no memories. Drawn into a world of lies, deceit, and violence, Zwei must fight to survive, hopefully to one day regain his memories and escape from this world where he is constantly on the brink of death.

Personally the idea of a secret organization hidden in the underground has always sent a small chill down the spine. One of thrill and a small yearn of wanting to join in on the fun. Grunge, guns, passion, hate, emptiness, lust, power, suits, death, and fancy cars; these are some of things that is offered in this forbidden and hidden world. At first glance it looks like a life worth trying out, but the void that can be created within one’s mind can become the very undoing of their life. Zwei is one of the most detailed read more

Recommendations

zwei and hei are "actors" in their own way...
they have emotionless companions: ein (who gradually changes) and yin (who, slowly changes... as i see her)
they are both under a powerful organization from which they cannot easily escape: inferno and syndicate
Innocent Japanese guy betrayed by superiors and becomes mercenary outlaw. Gun toting asian hottie works with him. Different from Phantom because you get more of the sense the Black Lagoon crew have some moral standards. Still, fun, violent romp through the darkness.
