Both these stories take place on and around Hokkaido, mostly during the pre WWII period. The ideological struggles during that time form a part of the background and of some of the character's agendas.
However, oppression, exploitation and death seem the most important common themes to me.
Oya Naru Mono Dangai is somewhat more depressing, Kanikousen has a more positive outlook (maybe because the original author still had hopes for a brighter future at the time of writing 1929, and did not see what was coming).

Introducing the not so original title names "Rental Kanojo", the story both focuses on a simp protagonist, this is what would most likely happen if Kanojo, Okarishimasu isn't bound by laws and censorship, the story would likely fall into the NTR route, but unlike in Rental Kanojoi, in Kanojo, Okarishimasu, it wouldn't probably have the ugly bastard tag, because Kanojo, Okarishimasu is much more realistic than Rental Kanojo.

Created by the same legendary shoujo manga-ka, Idol Dreams is pretty much a less-fantasy reverse Full Moon wo Sagashite—where the main character is a woman who is aged down to a 15 year old, as opposed to a sickly girl aged up to a 16 year old. Either way, her new form gains popularity as she is roped into showbiz as an aspiring idol. Mieruko-chan

Usotsuki Satsuki wa Shi ga Mieru
|
Both feature a schoolgirl protagonist who can see things others can’t, related to death. Interestingly, each protagonist takes the opposite approach to their power. Mieruko tries to pretend she can’t see ghosts in order to protect herself from them; whereas Satsuki does not hide her power and has a reputation as a liar as a result.
I will note that whilst both have comedic and serious moments, Usotsuki has a more somber and darker tone overall. Both also have GL undertones which is always a plus!
