Synopsis

Lee Hoon (a.k.a. Hooni) is a wimpy 17-year-old high school student experiencing rock bottom. Due to the high medical costs of his mother's hospital stay before her death, as well as the gambling debt accrued by his abusive father, Hooni is left with crippling debt that leaves him impoverished. This combined with the constant, severe bullying he faces at school has given him extremely low self-esteem. Due to the seemingly endless difficulties he faces, Hooni's only goal in life is to kill himself. This, however, proves more difficult than he thought as he cannot find a satisfactory, pain-free method of doing so. Perhaps he'll finally find a good way to end himself, or maybe life isn't as bad as it seems?

I honestly hate how disgusting this manwha is. the characters have such nice designs and the art style is really good. it makes me sad to see all the romanticization of suicide, shotacon undertones and other problematic garbage that is rampant in it. the author is genuinely terrible and draws nsfw of their underage characters. there were so many opportunities to make this an actual meaningful story but the author just gave up and used it for their own sick shotacon fetish. there is also a chapter where a character is queerbaited and the reader believes she is a lesbian, until the end where it read more

Suicide Boy - As the title implies, the story is about a boy who wants to commit suicide.

When i first started the series, I expected it to mainly focus on different ways a person can kill themselves - with MC constantly failing to do the deed. And even though that is partly true, "Suicide Boy" has more to offer than "How can i kill myself" tutorial.

The story centers around Hoon Lee - a weak, skinny teenager who resembles a female MC from Watamote series - He even has feminine traits and usually ends up doing something cringy/awkward.

Hoon lives a lonely and depressing life. There read more

Suicide Boy is kind of like WataMote, but less cringey and with more likable characters.
Despite Suicide Boy being a story about a kid who gets bullied and wants to kill himself, it's more funny and heartwarming than it is depressing.

Although the webcomic begins with the main character- Lee Hoon (often called Hooni)- trying to commit suicide multiple times, it does not stay focused on that. He begins to make a couple friends who are concerned for his well-being and starts to find ways to enjoy life, and the suicide attempts become less frequent.

The comic is not too cringey. Although the main character is an oblivious, read more

A little warning: As the title suggests, this story is about suicide and depicts very graphic things such as self-harm which is obviously a very sensitive topic so it might not be for everyone, especially not for people who have been or are suicidal!

Suicide Boy reminds me a lot of Watamote in the way that the stories both revolve around an introverted, socially awkward and withrawn character. The differences however, I feel lay in the way their stories progress.

Whilst Watamote to me felt like it never lead anywhere and it was just the character constantly getting dunked on, I felt that Suicide Boy actually read more
