Music Unit EGOIST Ends Activities

Music unit EGOIST, known for their performances in Guilty Crown and Psycho-Pass, announced on Saturday that it will end its activities. Vocalist chelly will continue as a solo artist under the name "reche."

The group will hold its final live concert at the Grand Cube Osaka (Osaka International Convention Center) on September 23 and Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall in Kanagawa on October 9. The official fan club is accepting advance ticket reservations through September 3. The tickets for the concerts' Niconico live stream are also on sale now.

EGOIST was originally formed as a fictional artist featured in Guilty Crown in 2011. ryo from the music group supercell produced the unit, and chelly was selected from an audition of over 2,000 candidates to perform as the vocalist Inori Yuzuriha, the heroine of the anime.

The unit has since performed theme songs for Psycho-Pass, Koutetsujou no Kabaneri (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress), Fate/Apocrypha, Build Divide: Code Black, and Build Divide: Code White.

Was watching Guilty Crown and only now did I even find out that EGOIST was formed for this express purpose. And at the same time, I'm finding out that they're disbanding. Well that's unfortunate. Anyway I never really cared about any of their songs except for the OP to Apocrypha which I always liked very much. It's the only song they made that stuck with me.

Man it's just so sad to hear EGOIST got disbanded. I am a huge fan of their songs and I absolutely adore Chelly's voice. I just hoped they kept producing more music :(

Terrible news.. terrible day now.

I guess its surprising enough that EGOIST managed to hold out for over a decade after originally beeing an original anime gimmick.

They made amazing songs though, always loved to see them in the credits.

I hope chelly/reche will still be in the industry, I love her voice.
Ryo will probably be fine, supercell is still a thing after all.
Both of them together have created magic.

Wonder what the reason is though, were sales bad? creative differences?

Its really hard to understate just how sad this news is for me, EGOIST always held a special place in my heart beeing born from an original anime and evolving beyond it.
Seriously say what you want about guilty crown, I always loved it for bringing us EGOIST alone..
The origin of the project just makes them so unique, especially since they were also just really good.

I want to rewatch guilty crown now..

When Mayu left Myth&Roid the band was not the same anymore either. Now EGOIST is gone... when Aimer retires I might as well become deaf.

So i searched for 'reche' in spotify. As it turns out, she has been releasing songs since 2022. She seems to have lost EGOIST and Chelly brand, thus her new work is less viewed right now.

I also heard the music for the theatrical version of Psycho-Pass in the theater, and it was terrific! I thought it was a great idea, but it's a shame that they are no longer active.

Ahh That's a shame... I really enjoy their songs, especially Psycho Pass ending theme. Well, cycles will end sooner or later. Glad Egoist existed for a good time.

Psycho Pass' ED is one of my most favourite, even a decade later. The project barely has any songs to its name, so I never really saw as a project that warrants the complete focus of everyone involved, but maybe it's not realistic to keep it up as a side gig.

Also no EGOIST for the next Psycho-Pass (it's possible that we'll get another sequel) instalment actually hits the worst for me.

Thats nostalgic, since Guilty Crown is one of my favs.
Her voice is amazing, I'm still charmed by her, but it is what it is, I hope all of the members can do well in their next projects.
