'Tokyo Mew Mew New' Announces Additional Cast, First Promo
The official website of the new anime adaptation of Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi's Tokyo Mew Mew manga revealed four additional cast members, and the first promotional video on Monday. The series is scheduled to premiere in July 2022 on TV Tokyo.
Cast
Masaya Aoyama: Yuuma Uchida (Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun)
Keiichiro Akasaka: Yuusuke Shirai (IDOLiSH7)
Masha: Kaori Ishihara (Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen)
Ryou Shirogane: Yuuichi Nakamura (World Trigger)
Takahiro Natori (Cannon Busters) is helming the series at Yumeta Company and Graphinica. Yuka Yamada (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon) is handling the series composition and Satoshi Ishino (Date A Live) is designing the characters. Yasuhara Takanashi (Zombieland Saga) is composing the music.
Yoshida and Ikumi serialized the shoujo fantasy manga in Nakayoshi magazine between August 2000 and December 2002. The duo followed up with a two-volume sequel that ran from March to December 2003.
Tokyopop previously published the manga and its sequel in English between 2003 and 2006. Kodansha Comics relicensed the series and released all nine volumes in four omnibuses in 2011.
Studio Pierrot produced a 52-episode television anime that aired from Spring 2002 to Winter 2003.

Not a fan of some of the redesigns but I'll try to overlook them for the sake of nostalgia. Hopefully, it'll be a fun series.

Same, I prefered the voices of the original cast but this might just be a case of being blinded by nostalgia, everything has the right to be given a try so I'll look the other way for now, just hope the quality is good as I remember some of the OG episodes were pretty out there in terms of that..:/

Animation and visual’s seem kinda mediocre imo looking at the PV, like Yumeta Company’s past works under Graphinica. The staff seems promising though, with Takahiro Natori as the director and Yuka Yamada handling the series composition. Though then again, it’s not like the original series had great art or animation IIRC. Hopefully the writing and direction shine through.

The animation looks good so far. Hopefully this will be better than Sailor Moon Crystal.

I can't believe my first anime crush (Ryou Shirogane) have the voice of my all favourite seiyuu, Nakamura Yuuichi!! (this feels like a fever dream aaaaaaaa) and Akasaka-san have Shirai's voice, I think it was a good cast and I like the designs, waiting to see the other three characters...

FINALLY we get more news on this after nearly a year!!
Whoa, looks like it's definitely sticking more to the source material right away! A shame that Megumi Ogata isn't returning, but... hey, guess it was amazing timing that I even found the original manga omnibus recently hahahahaha! Well... let's hope this series is better on a revisit, both in manga and through this reboot... it's been a while.
And as always, I HOPE A LA MODE GETS ADAPTED TOO, SCREW THE BERRY HATERS
BERRY > ICHIGO FIGHT ME
