TROYCA, DMM pictures Announce 'Shinobi no Ittoki' Original TV Anime for 2022

DMM pictures and animation studio TROYCA (Aldnoah.Zero, Re:Creators) opened an official website for a new original television anime titled Shinobi no Ittoki on Tuesday. The website also revealed a teaser visual (pictured above) and TROYCA will produce the anime. The anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2022.

That rather just sounds like Ninja Slayer, but this time not a parody. I suppose it could work, but as of yet it's just a title and a studio listing. An empty announcement, I'll see what the next has to offer.

I'm starting to believe that Japanese history, and mythology are both making a huge comeback, possibly even to replace isekai.

Not a good sales pitch. Wonder if it'll be Ei Aoki directing once again? I'd hoped for someone else to get their chance.

Yeah, it‘ll probably be him again or one of his pupils with him as chief director. Troyca is in that way kinda similar to Trigger, Science Saru or Shaft, where the studio‘s identity and center of attention is one or two directors and their approach towards anime. Even when they are not that much involved in a project, the other directors try to emulate what the key person is known for. Just look at the other Studio Troyca shows. They still look and feel like something Ei Aoki would direct. Well, if I am being honest, Troyca is not that good of a studio and neither is Ei Aoki a particularly good director. Atmospheric scenes he can do pretty well, but god forbid let him direct action scenes. Aldnoah and Fate/Zero were absolutely awful in that regard.
