'Yuri!!! on Ice Movie: Ice Adolescence' Delays Premiere

The official website for the Yuri!!! on Ice The Movie: Ice Adolescence theatrical anime announced on Friday that the premiere date will be delayed "in order to substantially scale up the content more than originally planned." The film was initially scheduled to open this year.

The award-winning Yuri!!! on Ice is an original anime series created by Mitsurou Kubo and Sayo Yamamoto at MAPPA, which broadcast in Fall 2016. Crunchyroll and Funimation simulcast the show on their respective platforms while the series aired.

Funimation released the complete collection as a standard and limited edition Blu-ray & DVD combo in February 2018. The set included the short animation featuring an exhibition routine performed by Yuri Plisetsky, which was also included in the sixth Japanese DVD and Blu-ray volume.

Rebroadcast of TV series will begin on October 5. The info. to the movie might come out at final ep. rebroadcast, which is at the end of December.

Polishing up things will imrprove the quality of the movie so it's cool. But I think generally speaking, delaying this even more will just kill the hype and some people will lose interest, as it has happened dozens of times with other popular series. I mean, the first season aired in 2016 and we're just waiting for a movie.

Honestly, the movie being delayed for them to improve it is not a problem in my opinion. Just means it going to be EVEN BETTER haha

Does anyone know what this is going to be about? Like, judging from the title is a prequel to the main series?

As a YOI fan, I'm thankful to MAPPA for not turning this movie into a quick cashgrab and taking time to polish it to its maximum (which is the case here, hopefully). Good luck to them, I'm sure fans will be waiting patiently.

I was wondering why we aren’t any getting new info on this and so this pretty much clarifies it.

Hopefully, it won’t be too long of a delay and the series will come back all guns blazing!

If an anime has a fan base. And I believe this one does (a fairlt big one at that). I don't think it matters how much time passes. People will still spend their money to go see this.
