New Film Announced for 'Yuri!!! on Ice'

During the "Yuri!!! on Stage" event that took place on Saturday, it was announced that the original sports anime series Yuri!!! on Ice will receive a new film.

Yuri!!! on Ice is an anime created by mangaka Mitsurou Kubo and director Sayo Yamamoto that was produced by studio MAPPA. It centers around figure skating and was broadcast during Fall 2016 for 12 episodes. The series won categories for Animation of the Year (Television) and Fan Award at the 2017 Tokyo Anime Awards.

OMG!~! I'm so excited, I can't wait!!

Honestly, I must say that my hype is very loud with this movie. (One more reason to re-watch YOI and be happy). ^_^

BTW, i really wanted news of a possible second season... ;_; Am i dreaming too loud? idk~ I'm so glad :D

I just want more interactions between skaters and those awesome social media posts! Honestly, the use of instagram is one of my favorite things about Yuuri on Ice

Good, since it's a movie there won't be any QUALITY and they get more time to prepare the eventual season 2. I hope they get it done soon while the franchise is still as popular as it is, and not postpone for years like *certain* series.

i know they are gonna make good amount of money by doing this, but if they were to make a good movie about a decent anime or manga they could make way more

Honestly not surprised that there's a lot of hate for this series since most anime fans (who are mostly guys) are a bunch of hypocritical homophobics but are completely ok with two girls fondling each other's breast and be like "Well, they're both girls". You really think homophobia is the issue? How about, it's an completely mediocre show that's only popular because Tumblr happened to hype up its "gayness". A small portion of people really love its portrayal of ice skating, but the majority of people only love the gay couples. Its popularity has nothing to do with quality, and everything to do with flamboyance and faggotry.

XD you can tell imma crazy YOI fan (///w///) but talking serious, I do hope the movie concentrates on Worlds (so glad it's not just a recap >w^) and then the second season introduces new promos! Besides the obvious BL, I really enjoy all the choreography! >w<

Nice. I assume it's gonna be about Europeans/4CC and Worlds. Trying to make a new season out of Europeans and Worlds wouldn't work well since there's little build up to that compared to the GPF with the GP series, so making a movie instead is the right call if they really wanna make a second season eventually.

Will be disappointed if this just ends up being a prequel or a side story.
