A second anime season for Akane Shimizu's Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work!) manga on Saturday was announced at the Aniplex booth at AnimeJapan 2019.

Shimizu began the comedy manga in Shounen Sirius magazine in January 2015. Kodansha published the fifth volume in August 2017. Hataraku Saibou has a cumulative 2.5 million copies of its compiled volumes in print.

Shigemitsu Harada launched a "darker side" spin-off manga Hataraku Saibou Black with illustrations by Issei Hatsuyoshiya in Morning magazine in June 2018. The third volume went on sale on February 22.

David Production adapted the manga into a 13-episode TV anime in Summer 2018. The anime series was followed by a special episode that aired on December 27 last year.

Kodansha Comics licensed the manga in English in March 2016 and shipped the fifth volume in November 2017.

I’m happy this great anime got a second season, it deserved it.

I’m hoping it’s a 2-cour but I’m not expecting it to be.

My doctor had told me that I had low platelets, with this it's easy to fix.

Hope its better the the first one and focuses more on white blood cell and platelates rather then that annoying dumb Rbc

This is very unnecessary of this industry. We already have good doujinshi.

Lots of excellent announcements this Anime Japan event, but this one has to be my favorite one, loved this adorable and charming anime.

God damn, 2019 is only getting better with the announcements. I am looking forward to this one a lot as well. Now if we could get a S3 announcement of Konosuba after the movie... Then 2019 is the best.

God bless Anime Japan 2019 for the recent announcements so far. =)

Of course, this show was a great gem back in the Summer season last year, so I'm really happy that there's a second season in production! =D

Well, I didn't saw that coming, let alone so relatively soon after the end of the first season. Not that I'm complaining, heck, I'm very happy about it (was one of my favourite series of last Summer), but I didn't expected it at all.

After seeing the Re:Zero announcement a while ago, i get this! Absolutely loved this anime, i'm really glad we can also see more of it!

PS: Damn, this year they're keeping it high with the sequels!
