An official website opened for an anime adaptation of Haruhisa Nakata's sci-fi boxing manga Levius on Friday. The anime series will debut on Netflix in Winter 2019.

Synopsis
As society rises from the ashes of war, cybernetically augmented arena fighters battle for fame and fortune... or die trying.

It's the 19th century, and the world has entered the Era of Rebirth, recovering from the devastating flames of war. The sport of mechanical martial arts has galvanized the nations. Cybernetically augmented fighters turn their blood into steam and their bodies into brutal fighting—and killing—machines.

Young Levius is one of those arena battlers, hell-bent on winning in order to simply survive. (Source: VIZ Media)

Levius began its serialization in Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki in January 2013 and ended in September 2014 when the magazine was discontinued. The manga resumed in Shueisha's Ultra Jump in April 2015 under the title Levius/est. Shogakukan published the first three volumes and Shueisha shipped the fifth volume last April.

VIZ Media licensed the manga last month and plans to release the first volume in September 2019.

They basically shit on the beautiful art with that cgi nonsense.

Well, I'll just better pick the manga up again.

Another 13 FPS CGI one, pass.

Looks pretty ghey. And CGI, of course.

CGI has its detractors but this can't look any worse than Ashita no Megalopoop by definition.

when will they stop making full CGI anime? looks annoying, cant watch that, although seems interesting

I'm already not fond of sports and the synopsis definitely doesn't sound like something i'd enjoy, but the final nail in the coffin is that they made this fully 3D, so it's a very hard PASS from me!

Too bad, the main character looks really pretty...

Have you guys noticed that more and more anime getting announced recently are fully CGI?

This makes me really worried for the future of anime, i don't want them all to become like this, 2D animation is a thousand times better, hopefully it won't go the way of the west where 99% of animation is like that... :(

Winter 2019? So it’s coming out anytime in the next two weeks or is this some kind of a miswriting?
Or December 2019 (Just wild guess, though).

Oh right, thanks!
There’ll be no actual Winter until Nov/Dec for this year anymore, so that’s likely.

This seems fascinating!

Winter 2019...Man Polygon is getting busy! They're really good with action scenes when they make a good effort on it, so I hope this does not disappoint.

Damn. Synopsis sounded amazing, but then I saw the PV.

Anyway, i know that the manga is way older than Megalobox but it definitly feels like Netflix and whoever's behind this just wants their own Megalobox after seeing its success.

Synopsis sounds very alike to Megalo Box and I have to completely agree with the user above. Polygon Pictures and CGI go hand-in-hand so this might be a turnoff for many, including me, but I don’t know, I might just give it a go.

Inb4 everyone shit on it because of Polygon and CGI.
